View Full Version : 2007 Sudirman Cup - Day 6 - Saturday - Semifinal
let's kick off the discussion early now we have the results from the group match.
the schedule will be:
12pm - China vs. Korea
5pm - England vs. Indonesia
congratulation for England to qualify the final for the first time.
here are my predictions:
CHN 5-0 KOR
i am afraid to say i cannot see KOR winning in any of the 5 events. CHN is just too strong
ENG 2-3 INA
i see ENG taking MX and WS/WD are 50% each, so they may take one. INA will take MS/MD for sure.

Loopy 06-14-2007, 11:50 AM KOREA Fighting!
edwin 06-14-2007, 11:51 AM Have the rules been changed? Many are prediciting that China will win 5-0 or 4-1, but don't they stop the semi finals once a team have 3 victoires?
2cents 06-14-2007, 11:52 AM Chn : Kor = 3 : 0
Ina : Eng = 3 : 1
V3i HoN6 06-14-2007, 11:55 AM Right, so it will be 7pm in Mas time for the China vs Korea games.
Just the right time for me. Finish work and watching it while having dinner.
And I think i would stay with Ina for the late night game since it is weekend.
2cents 06-14-2007, 11:57 AM and Final:
Chn : Ina = 3 : 0
edwin 06-14-2007, 11:57 AM I guess I should put in my prediction as well
Chn: Korea: 3:0
Eng: Ind: 3:2 <- I'm prediciting a upset. England seems to be stronger in XD, WS, and WD.
Speed & Power 06-14-2007, 12:24 PM CHN bt KOR: 3-1 *Park Tae-Sang bts Lin Dan ;)
*CHN should rest LD & put CJ or BCL instead, LD is in a sorry state currently!
ENG bt INA: 3-2
*Taufik sweeps MS
*Tracey Hallam sweeps WS
*XD in favor of ENG
*MD can go either way
*Brits have slight advantage in WD
**plus Brits have home crowd support!!!

COME ON ENGLAND!! I'll be there screaming them on!!

I think England has a fair chance of beating Indonesia 3-2 as well. Although Markis Kidho & Hendra Setiawan lost the two previous meetings against the English pairing of Anthony Clark & Robert Blair, I somehow feels that the English pair sometimes chokes when playing a strong MD pair. Someone (I think madbad) had suggested that Candra Wijaya & Alvent Yulianto might be better against the English pair and I strongly agree with that opinion. So Indonesia must win the MS & MD to have a fighting chance.
For England, they must win WS & WD which is do-able since Indonesia's weakness is in the women's camp.
It will ultimately boil down to the mixed game and I think England will field in Nathan Robertson & Gail Emms for that category. I wonder which mixed pair Indonesia will go with, Nova Widianto & Lilyana Natsir or Flandy (is it Flandy or Flandi?) Limpele & Vita Marissa.
What do you guys think would be the best pair against Robertson & Emms?
2cents 06-14-2007, 01:09 PM **plus Brits have home crowd support!!!
It is home, but there is no "crowd"
Dreamzz 06-14-2007, 03:41 PM will they play all 5 matches if the tie is already dead?
the matches won't matter anymore, not like in the early rounds.
in either case, i think it'd be hard to see KOR taking any of the matches.
for the INA-ENG game, i think INA will take it 3-1.
Viper2005 06-14-2007, 03:49 PM Anyone know if USA will make it to the semi-final?
Very interesting 3 way tie for 2nd place.

..they did...they have more wins and less losses in comparison to Canada;...they've got their work cut out for them in Semis, though, as they'll be facing India, the winner of group 3B..:p;)

madbad 06-14-2007, 04:49 PM Hi, my name is INDRA and I predict the following:
INA 5 ENG 0 (Taufik to win 21-0, 21-0 guaranteed)
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
madbad 06-14-2007, 05:02 PM I have a feeling that LYB will save LD for the final. Expect CJ or BCL to get a start. Possibly XXF too.
ENG-INA
MS goes to INA. the rest are quite close.
Blair/Clark is very good when playing in Europe.
WD, I think INA WD beat ENG WD a few times before
WS, England has slight edge but possible upset.
MX, the unpredictable one.
So it could be 3-1 or 3-2 to ENG, posibly 3-0,3-1 or 3-2 to INA
ENG would be riding on a good spirit having beaten the odds against Malaysia so ENG could win it. INA is always stronger in a team than individuals competition.
johnps 06-14-2007, 05:30 PM ENG-INA
So it could be 3-1 or 3-2 to ENG, posibly 3-0,3-1 or 3-2 to INA
Sen, your above prediction will highly likely come true.
You are so cute. You cover all possiblilities except 3-0 to ENG... lol ...:):):)
abedeng 06-14-2007, 05:31 PM Agree with SEN, it could be 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 for INA (most probably 3-1) or 3-1 or 3-2 for ENG. The only undisputable pt is MS, 'cos every other MS should be able to beat Andrew Smith.
To make the INA journey smooth, I would suggest Alvent/Candra come into play. As good as Markis/Hendra is, they are up against experienced WC runnerup pair with an outstanding coach (who beat them in WC2006)
2cents 06-14-2007, 05:32 PM ENG would be riding on a good spirit having beaten the odds against Malaysia so ENG could win it. INA is always stronger in a team than individuals competition.
I just checked the Sudirman history. Team Indonsia has NEVER beat team China before in Sudirman, but lost SIX times to team China in Sudirman . What a head to head record.
abedeng 06-14-2007, 05:33 PM CHN - KOR? What can I say, except a 3-0 scoreline. Could be 3-1, but only if KOR XD can wipe the smile of the smiling assassin and make her scold her chubby partner.
ctjcad 06-14-2007, 05:59 PM :p..looking ahead to the Semifinals day, though a bit early:p:)..
For this post, I'll be focusing on the 2nd Semifinals match, the main event of the night, between ENG and INA, which should be a very interesting and barn-burning showdown..:p:D;)
*Not to undermine the KOR squad, but the CHN vs. KOR match is pretty much a foregone conclusion, but i'll chime in as well for that matchup..:p..
So, here's my 2 cents:
IMO, this will be where strategies and player selections come into play. Not only do the INA's & ENG's squads need to think about their players and lineup formation for the Semifinals, but also, for their upcoming match(Final), should either advance to the Final. But first things, first, that is to take care of business in the Semis.
For INA & ENG to win, IMO, they will have to put their best players out there. Because their main objective is to reach the Final. No way and no buts about what they need to do.
This is my proposed lineup for the INA squad, as i mentioned, earlier, in the Day 3 thread(eventhough that was against CHN):
MS - Taufik H....or if the coaches are gutsy enough, they could field Sony D.K., to give Taufik another extra day of rest:p
WS - Maria Kristin..The chances might not be on her side, but if she needs to shake off some nerves before the possible Final appearance, this could be a good match for her..
WD - Gresyia Polii & Lilyana Natsir..This is a bit tricky, as forcing Vita to play this event, might effect the lineup for XD. However, if this pair is able to force a rubber set, even if they lose, it can affect Gail Emms if she plays in the XD.
MD - Candra & Alvent. This is also tricky, as ENG might field the double-duty specialist Anthony Clark, so i've gotta go with the "veterans". But if the MD is to be played in middle 3 events, then i'd probably go with the younger Kido & Setiawan and hope for the best:p
XD - Flandy & Vita...Sorry, after seeing numerous shortcomings, i just have to go with Flandy this time again, as this is, arguably, the key match. This match as this could go first or last. Getting a point in this match is crucial.:p
INA's best scenario is to have the MD match as the last event, as that could very well save a bit more energy for their MD players, esp. Candra & Alvent, should they advance to the Final.
For the ENG squad:
MS - ???...whoever it is, he'll probably take it as a good sparring match..:p
WS - Tracey Hallam. The veteran steps up to take her shot.
WD - Donna Kellogg & Gail Emms. ENG's top WD pair.
MD - Anthony Clark & Robert Blair. Consistent & ENG's top MD pair.
XD - Nathan Robertson & Gail Emms. If Gail Emms is not too tired from playing the WD event, she can do some damage. However, she'll be playing double duty, if ENG is forced to go the whole 5 events.
ENG's best scenario is to have either the WD or XD as the last match. Separating those 2 events, as far as possible, might save Gail Emms' energy, should they advance to the Final.
The outcome of INA vs. ENG match will somewhat depend on the order of play. That's why the players chosen for the XD event is somewhat crucial, as it could go as the 1st or last and if it's the 1st event, it could set the "rhythm" for the subsequent events.
As for CHN vs. KOR, i would assume CHN will send its top players to guarantee a Final appearance. For KOR, personally, i would put the same lineup as they fielded against the INA on the 1st day of competition, and hope to give a bit of a run to the CHN squad. I think they should be very happy if they can give an all out effort against the strong CHN squad.;)
All in all, it looks to be one heck of a day, as the homecrowd support will definitely be there....:D;):cool:http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
I have a feeling that LYB will save LD for the final. Expect CJ or BCL to get a start. Possibly XXF too.
That I am not sure as coach Li usually like to show off his arsenal by fielding his best players. Korea is not a bad team and there are still lots to play for.
I just checked the Sudirman history. Team Indonsia has NEVER beat team China before in Sudirman, but lost SIX times to team China in Sudirman . What a head to head record.
in 1989 who is the winner of this cup?
see the last Sudirman Cup, how the Indonesia team was? GREAT reaching Final after sent-off Denmark 3-0, with players that difficult to get victory in Tour

reaching No. 1 position in div. 1-B its already an UPSET of INDONESIA as unseeded TEAM,
its not easy for indonesia to beat ENG (consider ENG performance beating MAS) but I still say Indonesia can get point from MS, MXD, and WS (its true, I think noe 1 point is came from WS) for MD 50-50, WD 40-60 for ENG
ctjcad 06-14-2007, 06:26 PM reaching No. 1 position in div. 1-B its already an UPSET of INDONESIA as unseeded TEAM,

...but not as the top 4, i believe...Hmm, forgot to add(as editing time ran out), if INA can avoid playing the MD and ENG can avoid playing the WD or XD, that'll be beneficial, if either should advance to the Final..;)
abedeng 06-14-2007, 08:07 PM I think ENG will field Emms/Robertson in XD, they are more stable than Clark/Kellogg.
Clark will concentrate on MD with Blair, but Emms will have to do double duty with Kellogg in WD.
Dunno about INA WD, is Greysia/Lilyana stronger than Greysia/Vita? At least we know Greysia/Vita can match and even beat MAS, JPN top pairs, so they could be good bets against ENG WD. But I suppose in so doing, Vita has to do double duty with Flandy Limpele in XD since Nova/Lilyana are not clicking well.
huangkwokhau 06-14-2007, 09:35 PM This is my prediction of INA Line up:
MS: Simon santoso ...he needs to play at least once and rest TH.
WS: Maria Kristin
MD: Alvent/Chandra
XD: Flandy/Vita
WD: Polii/Lilyana
They can beat ENG with 4-1
nugroho 06-15-2007, 01:28 AM I think ENG will field Emms/Robertson in XD, they are more stable than Clark/Kellogg.
Clark will concentrate on MD with Blair, but Emms will have to do double duty with Kellogg in WD.

Greysia/vita beat Gail/emms a fews time at SS so... i dont think ENG WD is supperior...
they are indeed have beat gail/emms 2 time in all england and swiss open
indra 06-15-2007, 02:00 AM Hi, my name is INDRA and I predict the following:
INA 5 ENG 0 (Taufik to win 21-0, 21-0 guaranteed)
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Yes...Taufik : LD 12 - 5, Taufik leading...
CLELY 06-15-2007, 02:17 AM in 1989 who is the winner of this cup?
see the last Sudirman Cup, how the Indonesia team was? GREAT reaching Final after sent-off Denmark 3-0, with players that difficult to get victory in Tour
Of course, INA is the top of 1989 inaugural SC. INA beat DEN 5-0 in SF and KOR 3-2 at last round. Meanwhile CHN itself defeated by KOR 2-3 in semifinal duel.
INA had dumped CHN twice until 10th Sudirman Cup contest. 1991, CHN lost 2-3 at group-stage and 1993, same score 2-3 in last four.
INA's superb performance when tamed DEN with score 3-0 got an anticlimax in finale lost to CHN 0-3. Hopefully,it's not happen again this time.
*CHN vs KOR -- very clear result for the hot-fave. CHN will claim 3-0 directly through first three matches. But doubtly if LYB still play LD after his dissapointing lost to LCW. Maybe CJ will replace LD to challenge Park Sung Hwan.
*INA vs ENG -- 3-2. Three points for INA will coming from MS,WD,XD.
Upcoming dreamfinal CHN vs INA will set in Glasgow. If ENG create another new history to secure final berth for the 1st time, CHN will be very glad of this and final episode will lose of excitement.
badMania 06-15-2007, 03:00 AM I think ENG will field Emms/Robertson in XD, they are more stable than Clark/Kellogg.
Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa HAVE BEATEN Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg in several tourneys this year:
R16 Yonex All-England Open 2007 21-18, 21-18
R16 Wilson Badminton Swiss Open 2007 21-15, 21-15.
I think INA has an advantage in WD
Jimmy_Goh 06-15-2007, 03:04 AM CHN - KOR? What can I say, except a 3-0 scoreline. Could be 3-1, but only if KOR XD can wipe the smile of the smiling assassin and make her scold her chubby partner.
Right on . . . smiling assassin is good name for GL. But as we saw in the last tournament when GL scoded & quarrelled with ZB, they still won the match. GL is too experience. Olympic champion with another chubby ZJ.
I predict 3-0 to Chn.
abedeng 06-15-2007, 03:14 AM Greysia/vita beat Gail/emms a fews time at SS so... i dont think ENG WD is supperior...
they are indeed have beat gail/emms 2 time in all england and swiss open
Agree, but what if Greysia pairs with Lilyana, are they still superior?
jasonmarc 06-15-2007, 03:19 AM my prediction. CHN 3 KOR 0 ( i can see CHN is very well prepared )
INA 3 ENG 1 ( MAybe ENG can get i point from WS)
robin7 06-15-2007, 03:23 AM Assumption:
(1) Order of play will be XD-MS-WS-MD-WD.
(2) In SF & F, the match will be over when one of the teams has won 3 ties.
My predictions:
A) CHN-KOR 3-0
XD: CHN
MS: CHN
WS: CHN
I believe that CHN can seal the victory in the first 3 ties.
B) INA-ENG 3-2
XD: 50-50
MS: INA
WS: ENG
MD: INA
WD: ENG
INA can claim victory in MS & MD whereas ENG can grab WS & WD. XD is a 50-50 battle which I believe is the crucial point for the match. Anyway, I predict a close match but INA has the slight edge over ENG. However, I hope for an upset.
wirre 06-15-2007, 03:24 AM Hi, my name is INDRA and I predict the following:
INA 5 ENG 0 (Taufik to win 21-0, 21-0 guaranteed)
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Indra ,stop thinking logical and rational.
We all know in your heart you hope for a Eng 3 - 2 Ina result.
Taufik to lose 21-0, 29-30, 29-30.
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
badMania 06-15-2007, 03:32 AM I don't think INA is going to field Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa and Greysia Polii/Lilyana Natsir. It's just too risky. Flandy/Vita have an inferior record against Robertson/Emms.
They are going to stick to fielding Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir and Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa.
badMania 06-15-2007, 03:39 AM INA vs ENG
XD: Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms -- it has been a long time since these 2 pairs met (the thrilling Final game at Aviva Open last year). The ENG pair has a slight edge. An absolutely crucial match and no team can afford to lose this one (more so for ENG). If INA manages to take this one, then, half of the job is done!
MS: Taufik Hidayat vs Andrew Smith -- it's unlikely for the Team Manager, Pak Lufti to field Sony or Simon. It's just too important....and this is a point that INA HAS TO WIN!
WS: Adriyanti Firdasari vs Tracey Hallam -- I think Firda will be fielded...but...ENG HAS TO WIN this one to keep its Final hope alive.
MD: Candra Wijaya/Alvent Yulianto vs Anthony Clark/Robert Blair -- Kido/Hendra have a bad record against Clark/Blair, so, I think fielding Candra/Alvent will be a wise decision. The ENG pair has improved a lot the past 1 year. It will be a tough tie, but, Candra/Alvent should win.
WD: Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg -- I don't know why almost everyone is thinking that Emms/Kellogg is the more superior pair  The head-to-head record is 2-0 for the INA pair. INA will have an advantage should Emms feel the effect of the earlier XD match.
Overall prediction: INA to win 3-2.
robin7 06-15-2007, 03:47 AM I just checked the Sudirman history. Team Indonsia has NEVER beat team China before in Sudirman, but lost SIX times to team China in Sudirman . What a head to head record.

Welcome :)
Anyway, i hope it will be a China vs Indonesia showdown. I believe it will be more exciting!
chandler_k04 06-15-2007, 08:53 AM INA vs ENG
This year, Greysia/Vita beat Emms/Kellogg twice....all in just 2 sets..and all matches was in Europe...i really don't understand why most of you guys think that the english has better chance to win?:cool::cool: can somebody explain to me?

Zhao Jianhua? So he is good at XD also.
xavier felipe 06-15-2007, 11:30 AM well, if that's the case, than china won 3-2, isn't it?:p
INA won the WD tie if i'm not wrong and last game should be 1-15.
I remember at that time, Lin Yanfen got cramp or injured at the last minute in the second set.
That is why Finarsih/Lili Tampi could win.
I think Finarsih/Lili Tampi is always strong for team event. But for individual, they are not so strong. If they meet Korean pair is always tough but they will lose in very tight 3 sets. :)
Smichz 06-15-2007, 12:50 PM what i sure know is that indo desperately gonna fight to take their trophy back to their country.U know what man in desperate would do rite?I hope that all the countries n players will play their game till their last drop of blood.

IIRC, Ricky-Gunawan then became World Champions after that ........, and Rexy was absent due to injury or something like that because we saw Ricky-Rexy played at Thomas Cup 1992 vs Malaysia ...... (Malaysia then won Thomas Cup in 1992).
i just read taht it was fransisca ratnasari who have played for INA... she was not bad that time.. y is she no voice right now?
Yes Its EXactly Faransisca Ratnasari (nana), at that time she also won over Tine rasmussen in SF againts Danish Team
but recently she is the worst in INA Line-UP, in Last SS Djarum Indonesia Open2007, she cannot get 1 place in Main Draw(she play from Qual) , whereas some young girls of Indonesia can, (Pia Zebaidah, maria Febe, Andriyanti Firdasari)

CLELY 06-15-2007, 09:13 PM According tournament software website, here's the semifinal line-up of CHN vs KOR :
order-to-play : XD-WS-MS-WD-MD
XD -- Gao Ling/Zheng Bo vs Han Sang Hoon/Lee Hyo Jung
WS -- Zhang Ning vs Hwang Hye Youn
MS -- Lin Dan vs Shon Seung Mo
WD -- Yang Wei/Zhao Tingting vs Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung
MD -- Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng vs Lee Jae Jin/Jung Jae Sung
Hmm, LYB still believe LD capable to capture MS point for CHN. Why KOR play Shon SM not Park SH?!

2cents 06-15-2007, 09:28 PM i have a hunch Korea will replace Shon with Park at the last minute...
China team is also unreasonable, Lin Dan used up all the opportunities, why they send Bao CL and Chen Jin and other 17 players? For ranking points, only 2 matches count

Actually, 1993 Final was so painful for INA because KOR WD save championship-point three times before they won second set with deuce. Unbelievable, INA must lost at that time when all players, coach and manager plus officials had been ready for victory ceremony,...really bad luck.
abedeng 06-15-2007, 10:23 PM My vote:-
CHN 3 KOR 0, no ifs and buts.
INA 3 ENG 0, if INA take XD
INA 3 ENG 1, if ENG win XD
INA 3 ENG 2, if ENG win XD and WS
INA 2 ENG 3, if ENG win XD and WS, and steal WD
INA 1 ENG 3, if ENG win XD and WS, and steal MD
ENG's best chance of scoring is XD and WS, they have to steal in order to win the tie. They can do that, having done so against MAS.
But I still want a Lin Dan vs Taufik matchup.
Sandy 06-15-2007, 10:29 PM Yes Its EXactly Faransisca Ratnasari (nana), at that time she also won over Tine rasmussen in SF againts Danish Team

She won over Caroline Sorensen, Tine injury in previous match. Tine watched this match by sit on wheelchair.
Actully Nana's performance wasn't impressive won in 3 sets, Caroline was too far compare to Tine.
PBSI & WS coach was overrated and too much hope after this winning.

Maria Kristin beat Julia Mann 11-9 11-4 in Sudirman 2003 (she was 17 y.o). Maria & Jo Novita/Lita Nurlita saved the team from the bottom of group after MD & XD (who prdicted won) lost to England.
Tracey was unbeatable to WS INA players since 2002.
Last time she lost to INA player in Europe tournament (maybe German Open) to Dian Novita Sari.
Then she beat all INA WS players in some tournament, Fransiska Ratnasari, Maria Kristin and this year she beat Sylvinna Kurniawan (2X), Rosaria Pungkasariy (2X) and Maria Elfira.
Krisna 06-15-2007, 11:10 PM Then she beat all INA WS players in some tournament, Fransiska Ratnasari, Maria Kristin and this year she beat Sylvinna Kurniawan (2X), Rosaria Pungkasariy (2X) and Maria Elfira.
That's true... I would like to just note the last game against Rosaria Pungkasari in Vietnam Challenge went to 3 sets and the point-by-point was played toughly... ;)
Tracey is a strong woman. Quite powerful down the line smashes. I think Maria Kristin can win by putting Tracey to sleep with her un-energetic-yet-troublesome-towards-rivals style of play... :D
huangkwokhau 06-15-2007, 11:12 PM I cant wait to see INA vs Eng...any live streaming?...pls let me know
Krisna 06-15-2007, 11:16 PM According to the BWF website, the head to head result for Maria Kristin vs. Tracey Hallam is 0:1 in favor of Tracey. That win happened November 20th 2005 in Chinese Taipei Open.

ctjcad 06-16-2007, 05:42 AM Greysia/vita beat Gail/emms a fews time at SS so... i dont think ENG WD is supperior...
they are indeed have beat gail/emms 2 time in all england and swiss open
WD: Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg -- I don't know why almost everyone is thinking that Emms/Kellogg is the more superior pair  The head-to-head record is 2-0 for the INA pair. INA will have an advantage should Emms feel the effect of the earlier XD match.
..hmm, which is the reason that perhaps Gresya & Lilyana have a pretty good chance also of winning over the veteran ENG WD pair...;)
I don't think INA is going to field Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa and Greysia Polii/Lilyana Natsir. It's just too risky. Flandy/Vita have an inferior record against Robertson/Emms.
They are going to stick to fielding Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir and Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa.
..wow, you still want to see Nova playing in the XD match, heh?!?!..:confused::):p...With the chance of playing the opening match, i sure hope Nova has some ice in his vein and not get rattled and pressured, like he did 2 yrs ago.:p I think he can play, but probably as the last match of night>>>less pressure..:p:(
here are Flandy's and Nova's record:
http://www.internationalbadminton.org/playerinfo.asp?category=m&playerid=7934
http://www.internationalbadminton.org/playerinfo.asp?category=m&playerid=5612
And here is Nova's & Lilyana's head to head records vs. Robertson & Emms and Clark & Kellogg:
http://www.internationalbadminton.org/headtoheadpairdetails.asp?txtPrid2=14297&txtPrid1=57408
http://www.internationalbadminton.org/headtoheadpairdetails.asp?txtPrid2=18842&txtPrid1=57408
While i don't have Flandy's & Vita's head to head records against either of ENG's XD pairs, i personally don't think it's risky playing them both, as they've shown that they're also a very capable pair.....Anyone has their head to head records??..
INA vs ENG
XD: Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms -- it has been a long time since these 2 pairs met (the thrilling Final game at Aviva Open last year). The ENG pair has a slight edge. :)..badMania, i have to tip my hat to you for putting up a confident-front in suggesting Nova & Lilyana to play in the crucial XD event(i'm sure you are aware of the former WC's current struggles).:p Yes, they have a better record so far this yr, in comparison to Flandy & Vita, pretty consistent. Although in a way, it could turn out to be beneficial, as in case INA should advance to the Final, the INA squad has an option of using them again or a rested Flandy & Vita...:p;)
For WS, i'd rather see Maria Kristin out there..just so she can experience high stake situation..;)
The MD match should be interesting..i don't mind if Markis & Hendra are selected to play..;)
Anyways, that match will start in about less than 6 hrs, so all this speculations, predictions will be for nought, if things turn out to be different than what we predicted/speculated:):p...We'll see what transpires from that tie;)...In the meantime, the CHN vs. KOR tie is about to start shortly..;)

Lee is not the youngster. She is 7 months younger than Hwang. The youngster is 18-year-old Jang Soo-young, who lost to Yip Pui Yin.

badMania 06-16-2007, 07:43 AM The team-sheet for INA vs ENG is out....quite expected...except for one:
XD: Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms -- very very crucial tie!! As I said, if INA were to take this one, its all over for England. I think the INA coaches also agree that INA could lose this point and hope that the match goes to 3 sets to make Gail Emms exhausted. 1-0 to ENG.
WS: Maria Kristin vs Tracey Hallam -- another give-away and ENG can take a 2-0 lead.
MS: Taufik Hidayat vs Andrew Smith -- Taufik simply must win! 2-1 to ENG
WD: Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg -- looks like INA forces Gail Emms to come out earlier by playing this as the 4th match. INA has to take this point as well to level it at 2-2.
MD: Candra Wijaya/Markis Kido vs Anthony Clark/Robert Blair -- as expected, INA doesn't dare to field Kido/Hendra because of their inferior record against Clark/Blair. But I thought Alvent Yulianto will be a wiser choise  Perhaps, they need Kido's smashes? So, if this is the decider, Candra Wijaya will definitely have to play a very very important role here
Overall, INA to win 3-2.....
Baderz_Jas 06-16-2007, 07:46 AM CHN will definitely thrash KOR 3-0 now. Jia You Lin Dan, finish it off :P
liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 07:48 AM how come they've decided to use Shon Seungmo? Lindan is going to beat him in 2 sets. I think.

liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 08:06 AM lols LYB is still telling lindan to use sharper and sneakier sudden smash strokes on SSM. i think he's just paranoid. haha.
Jessica 06-16-2007, 08:07 AM I think the Korea made a wrong decision...They should place PSH indeed of Shon.At least he hed a better record towards LD.Shon has no resistance at all against LD powerful smashes.
liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 08:10 AM totally agree jessica. SSM has no chance today.

huangkwokhau 06-16-2007, 08:12 AM I feel sorry that CJ or BCL has no chance to play at all..I did not expect CHN placed LD against Kor...

liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 08:15 AM maybe LYB wants LD to feel more confident. that way china will take the cup home. btw SSM is actually making LD dive now. still dont think SSM can take the set though.

liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 08:22 AM omg LD is going to lose 2nd set if this keeps up. he's too relaxed.

huangkwokhau 06-16-2007, 08:51 AM 63 minutes for LD to finish SSM off....LYB will have something to say to LD later....Congrats to China to final.....hopefully INA will follow to provide better excitement!!
Jessica 06-16-2007, 08:52 AM LD is still not in his very top form.If tomorrow the MS against Taufik,do no LYB will place who..
phaarix 06-16-2007, 08:53 AM Good showing from SSM, but really LD should have won it in two...
samuel882 06-16-2007, 08:53 AM i dun fink LYB will field BCL for the final. Coz he is not a very good team player.. and also lack of confidence sometimes......
Lx2_Oddkinsonz 06-16-2007, 08:53 AM haix..feel so worried for lin dan..there's clearly a dip in his form this SC..
huangkwokhau 06-16-2007, 08:53 AM INA has not played...pls dont assume INA will be in final....hehe....cant take ENG lightly....hope INA is thru final as well..
madbad 06-16-2007, 08:54 AM Just like that, it's over. Anyone excited at all? Just way too predictable. The crowd mst feel ripped off too. I guess that's what it's like when China is involved–just mow everyone down.

huangkwokhau 06-16-2007, 08:57 AM gonna cook for my breakfast....cant wait for INA vs Eng

2cents 06-16-2007, 08:59 AM true. lindan seemed almost bored against seungmo. tomorrow will show who's the top in MS.
You mean between Lindan and Andrew Smith (is he the agent from the Matrix?)
volcom 06-16-2007, 09:00 AM LHI could've beaten LD, too bad hes gone into oblivion.
LD in horrible form or could this be a hoax? He suddenly surges into insnane form and pwns int he final?
zqloy 06-16-2007, 09:02 AM true. lindan seemed almost bored against seungmo. tomorrow will show who's the top in MS.
Lol.... r we watching the same match? LD is struggling to find his form! He might lose if he continues to play like tat tmr.
phaarix 06-16-2007, 09:04 AM its in this order XD, WS, MS, WD and MD.
Oh right lol. Feel kind of stupid for not noticing the pattern lol...
liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 09:06 AM lol zqloy ive seen lindan play and today he wasn't in top form. but i think he'll call it out when he needs it. he is still after all, world no. 1. anyway, heard he sustained injury in SO, is it true? what sort of injury?
LI De Quan 06-16-2007, 09:06 AM BYE BYE,I will go for sleep now.
pjswift 06-16-2007, 09:08 AM don't know why he seems so relaxed???????????????????
You gotta be kidding! Do you know the meaning of 'relaxed'? When LD shows more teeth during play, it means he's stressed up! KOR's right to field SSM cos he's known to be a fighter. He's not a silver Olympic medallist for nothing. But it took LD 1 hour to take out SSM who has only played one tourney so far in 2007. Maybe he's still recovering from injury, huh? (But he can still thrash SSM in the first game.)
zqloy 06-16-2007, 09:10 AM lol zqloy ive seen lindan play and today he wasn't in top form. but i think he'll call it out when he needs it. he is still after all, world no. 1. anyway, heard he sustained injury in SO, is it true? what sort of injury?
Yup he is not playing well today. He is injured during Swiss Open earlier this year. Anyway he must hv well recovered already.
huangkwokhau 06-16-2007, 09:14 AM lol zqloy ive seen lindan play and today he wasn't in top form. but i think he'll call it out when he needs it. he is still after all, world no. 1. anyway, heard he sustained injury in SO, is it true? what sort of injury?
LD got injured during Swiss open, he recovered but after Singapore open as you can see his blog at badzine..he decided to skip Indo open as he felt too many good players at Indo open...my guess is that LD does not like Indo's hostility and he does not have a good record yet when he plays in South east region....
liangyuanruo 06-16-2007, 09:18 AM yeah i've realised that he somehow always loses SG Open... seen him play here in Singapore twice now and he lost both. First to TH in '05 and to Boonsak Ponsana this year.
He supposedly complains of the killer heat and humidity. At least he performs in other important tourneys!
pjswift 06-16-2007, 09:24 AM Park Sung-hwan. Korea's #1 MS.
ok, now we know why PSH was not selected. He lost his contact lens! But I think he would have been easier for LD. In MO07 , he beat LD partly because the crowd was against LD and LD was mentally exhausted from playing TH the day before besides playing well.Today, the crowd's 99% behind LD and he had a day's rest to recover from the mental exhaustion of playing and losing to LCW. LD won't stand a chance against TH tomorrow. AS will be like a training and warm-up session for TH so he'll be fresh tomorrow.

Lol... Ina has to beat England 1st! Anyone know whats the line up for that? It is same as China vs Korea?
samuel882 06-16-2007, 09:27 AM its in this order XD, WS, MS, WD and MD.
Any idea y the sort of play is not the same as primary rounds?:
XD, MS, WS, MD, WD
bananaboy 06-16-2007, 09:41 AM Even though Lin Dan has not been playing well lately, but I believe he still has enough to beat Andrew Smith tomorrow and gain an important point towards China's victory.:D
The best explaination of Lin Dan's recent drop in form...
After XXF's victory at the All England, Lin Dan gave her a kiss in front of the crowd. Now that one kiss is actually a transfer of power just like in those old fashion martial arts novels. According to the theory, it takes a minimum of a few months to a year to re-gain full power once again. Meanwhile, with the additional power received from Lin Dan, XXF will be the complete unstoppable player until she retires.:p

irian 06-16-2007, 09:43 AM Wao, Chandra will play with Kido....
i totally wasn't able to get up for the CHN-KOR match. but as expected, CHN beat KOR 3-0, with LD dropping yet another game for CHN.
eager waiting for ENG vs. INA, which i think will be much more closely fought.
volcom 06-16-2007, 10:08 AM IF Taufik vs Lin Dan.
Lin Dan will win
hcyong 06-16-2007, 10:11 AM Even though Lin Dan has not been playing well lately, but I believe he still has enough to beat Andrew Smith tomorrow and gain an important point towards China's victory.:D
The solution is right under your nose. Before XXF's match, LD kisses her. Before LD's match, XXF kisses him. If they play simultaneously, toss a coin.

INA vs ENG has not played yet...how come you assume Andrew smith will play CHN tomorrow.....
IF Taufik vs Lin Dan.
Lin Dan will win
I am sure Lin Dan will win against Andrew Smith(if UK advance) but against Taufik, I will have to take Taufik as winner as Lin Dan is not playing his best badminton now. But we can't deny, it will be the most anticipated match of all.
INA vs ENG has not played yet...how come you assume Andrew smith will play Eng tomorrow.....
Is all in the crystal ball and also we don't know the name of the player besides Andrew for UK MS :D

I'm running XP SP2, WMP 9, I played around a little bit with WMP settings, and I also installed klcodec320f, TVANTS works great.
