View Full Version : CCC Section 1 League, Every Sunday in July
DoublesPlease
06-24-2007, 11:24 PM
Hi,
Continuing on from the games last month we have another month of Sundays to play.
Each week the teams will be put together from a list that accumulates in this forum Monday through Friday. Teams will be randomly selected each Friday night. Play will be on Sunday night at the usual CCC venue starting around 7:30pm.
The game structure on each Sunday night will be determined by the number of players that have volunteered their names during the week.
So, if you are a CCC section 1 player or are around B / C grade and would like something a little more competitive than social play please add your name to the list.
As always, if anyone has suggestions then please add.

Greetings,
Last night, 29-June-2007, we welcome Tony-P back to our Friday Night Session, CCC@Waverley.
He apologised for missing out our last Sunday 24-June-2007 CCC League Games... because he had to make a trip to Thailand on that Sunday.
And to Hagane,
Just wondering...... if we can get a player from the Sunday Morning Group@MSAC to join in as the 'Mystery Player' for our Sunday Night CCC League@Waverley, this Sunday 1-July-2007.

This Return Match is for our Section 1 Players.
As for me, I have started the coaching for our Sunday CATS (Coaching And Training Session)... so I would not be able to take up the position. :o:o:o
Could we find a volunteer for this position?:confused::confused:

Thanks to everyone who welcomed (and initiated :D) RubyL into the Sunday League.
I invited her in this week, as she just recently arrived back in Melbourne. She was keen on playing badminton again, having stopped playing badminton for 3 months.
I did not realise that DP had managed to invite TonyP, thereby sending everyone into a mad rush in creating games and inviting people.
Many thanks to DP and BK168 who worked hard in finding people and fitting in a 28 game schedule. :)

Can you check with our CCC's Official Yonex supplier how much he can get a Yonex CAB30MS racket for. I think they are selling around $140.
Hi BadFever,
Sorry... the Yonex CAB30MS is not available for us@CCC. :o:o:o

Hey NT,
Good to see you're in for the 22nd July, Abots vs Dcons.
We have the friendly match against JTUltra coming up next month. It would be worth treating it a little more seriously than a standard Sunday night so have a think about partners and practice.
Couple of thoughts come to mind, we can tinker with the play order of the Sunday League to favour designated pairings, not my preferred solution but it is doable. Other one is Wednesday night, there are few people there for social so we can grab a court and run a good long practice session. I'll be there tomorrow night.

Hi DP.
Thank for your invitation for friendly match against JTUltra. I don't mind playing if you think you have a spot for me.
I can't come on wednesday night. As i mention that to Chris before, i don't think i come to wednesday night anymore until this semester 2 finish.

How does that sound?

Chris, if possible, with current 2 courts for this League, I would suggest we keep to max of 14 participants. Initially, we agreed to max of 12 participants, which is a good compromise (games and a bit of social) using 2 courts.
With 14 participants, last week, I felt like this, "...get in and start game...finish game...thank you very much and good bye". In other words, it a bit too rush. There is just no room to even rest if we are to finish all allocated games. I don't think I am interested to join this League if the number get more than 14. Sorry. :(

Agreed,
The target is 8 games each so 14 players is the maximum we're going to squeeze on to two courts in the time available. We'll cap the numbers at the first 14 who put their name down.
If there is sufficient demand down the track to justify a third court then we can revisit this.

Agreed. First come first serve.
You can still can put your name in even if exceeded 14 but i think DP can slot you in if somebody did not turn up. If otherwise , you will have to play social. I think with this understanding the league will continue to be good and we will continue to look forward to it every Sun.

I would suggest that in this instance, that perhaps applying the limit is the better option rather than grabbing the 3rd court.
As it is, for what it's worth, the intention for this league is in its competitive games and not a social. Unless there are specific reasons for which there are significantly more than 14 players qualifying for it, it should be first come first serve, to those who have qualified for it (skill-wise, through invitation, or come what may).
The rest should participate in the social games. This should cut down organisational complexities in planning and scheduling games (also a difficult issue in general).
Given that we've had troubles developing game schedules for high number of attendees, I would comment that it would get progressively more difficult as the number of combinations shoots through the roof in a rather exponential manner.
Granted, it only needs to be done once, however, given the level of complexities and limitations in number of games we can get through (28 seems to be a limit for 2 courts, and I would think 42 would be for 3 courts), the combinations would severely outweigh the increase in # of games.
It's just my opinion on this matters :)

We'll cap the numbers at the first 14 who put their name down.
Preference will be given to members over non-members. If the player count at the time of the draw (usually Friday evening) is greater than 14 then numbers will be reduced by counting back first through non-members then members. Once the draw has been made the teams are fixed.

Greetings,
Big discussion here, while I was away for our CCC Wednesday CATS@Waverley.
So...... I will make short comments. :):):)
With 14 participants, last week, I felt like this, "...get in and start game...finish game...thank you very much and good bye". In other words, it a bit too rush. There is just no room to even rest if we are to finish all allocated games. I don't think I am interested to join this League if the number get more than 14. Sorry. :(
At Suppertime@CCC, after our Sunday League Games on 15-July-2007, I mentioned that I was astonished that you guys could manage to fit in 8 games per player.
Based on memory, Kilsyth League allows each player only 3 games, Springers League allows only 4 and CBA League allows only 5.
Regarding the usage of courts, CCC has been stated that 1 court is for 8 players or for 4 trainees.
If there is sufficient demand down the track to justify a third court then we can revisit this.
Again, at Suppertime@CCC, after our Sunday League Games on 15-July-2007, I mentioned that perhaps one day, our members@ccc could drive CCC to be having...
Wednesday... All 4 courts for our CATS (Coaching And Training Session)
Friday........... All 4 courts for our Social Games
Sunday......... All 4 courts for our League Games
You can still can put your name in even if exceeded 14 but i think DP can slot you in if somebody did not turn up. If otherwise , you will have to play social. I think with this understanding the league will continue to be good and we will continue to look forward to it every Sun.
Agree.
If you want to participate, you must put your hand up. :):):)
Given that we've had troubles developing game schedules for high number of attendees, I would comment that it would get progressively more difficult as the number of combinations shoots through the roof in a rather exponential manner.
Perhaps when we get more players for our Sunday CCC League Games, we could do like what Kilsyth, Springers and CBA do...... that is to form more teams instead of just sticking to 2 teams. :):):)
Preference will be given to members over non-members.
Agree.
Members@ccc should have preference over Visitors@ccc when we come to a Crunch. :):):)
BTW, we need feedback from our other League Players.

Greetings,
It is widely known that, in the year 2007, the Decepticons attacked Autobot City and stole the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber.
And when Scourge opened the legendary forge with the key, the released energy overloaded his system and blasted the group of Autobots.
This story is to be unfolded tonight, Sunday 22-July-2007, at our CCC Sunday League Games@Waverley. :):):)
