BADMINTON fans in Malaysia can start purchasing their World Badminton Championships tickets through www.ticketpro.com.my which was launched yesterday by Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) deputy president Datuk M. Jegathesan at a leading hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
The World Championships will be held at the Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil on Aug 13-19.

"I am honoured to be here for this launch. I am sure that Malaysians will take this opportunity to purchase the tickets early and support their stars, especially our very own players" said Jega, who also launched TicketPro Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

The 16th World Badminton Championships will showcase the World’s best including China’s World No 1, Indonesia’s Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat and top Malaysian doubles pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.

Tickets for the qualifying matches are priced between RM18 and RM 38.
For school children it’s RM8. For the quater-finals tickets ranged from RM28 to RM68 (For school children RM 11).

For semi-finals and finals tickets are priced between RM 41 and RM103 (school children RM11).

"We have already sold about 15 per cent of the tickets. We hope that the special prices for children will encourage parents to bring along theirs," said Joanne Ong, managing director of TicketPro.

"Special promotions will be held to attract the fans to the stadium."

I bought the tickets already (school students' price)... and the person who was selling the tickets said that secondary school students who bought the tickets for students' price need to go there in their school uniforms...and for primary school students, they need to go there in their P.E. clothes as long as their P.E. shirts have their school name written on them.

I know that they are merely making sure that the ones buying students' tickets are really students but, wouldn't the school ID card be enough?

I have my season ticket and it will be sent out soon to a friend's house. It is in the lower tier North/south zone and I hope to get a ticket just behind the players. We shall see if the seat I get is good. I do not want one in the nose bleed zone (relatively speaking as it is in the lower tier). Season tickets supposedly get priority over individual tickets, which is why I got the season tickets.

I believe I have a first row (Q) seat in L6 (one of the middle rows), but my seat is not right in the center of that row but a bit toward the side. Anyway, it is a decent seat so I shall not be unhappy. I am ready for the games. Let the games begin.

My friend who ordered the ticket for me received an email with the ticket number a few weeks back. Also, the ticket was sent by courier and my friend received the ticket yesterday. It is in the first row of L6 just a bit off center. The ticket was ordered during the preorder period when ticketpro was setting things up and ordered through fax. So I am set :cool: . I get to see every match and every game if I choose. I will definitely be there for the quarters, semis, and finals.

I figured out the row by creating a dummy account, logging into the site, and playing around. For L6, N is 3 rows from the front and number 14 is in the least center seat in the center block of L6.

I am not sure about L7 not having checked out L7. No idea whether 20-27 is the centermost seat, but L7 is in the center 2 blocks so you should be set.

I was so happy that mananged 2 collect the tickets few days ago at Ticket Pro's office.Quite efficient,it only took less than a week to get the ticket done. I personally went to the office last Wednesday.Their system had yet been completely set up.I was told that the tickets for finals,front seats row 1-10 in L6 & L7 was fully booked. I still booked the ticket of row 11 despite a bit of dissappointment. When i was at the office for ticket collection,surprisingly i got a better seating.Its row 3 with middle seat!Wow,it was unexpected and i was more than happy to accept it.

For the final, middle row like L6 and L7 all gone, a few tickets left on L8, better book asap.
Yes, I agreed the tickets a bit expensive but its once every 2 years and it does not held in KL often, maybe once every 8 years or more.
For the 1st timers watching live at the WBC, the fun and roar of the crowds make a lot of difference rather than watch live on Astro. If can, go and watch live at Bt Jalil, you will never regret it !!

If I wanted purchase the ticket using E-Ticket delivery method, how will the process be? I choose the seat i wanted then enter my credit card data, then I'm confronted by a page of the transaction summary. Do I present a print copy of the transaction summary when at the venue entrance or do I download it and print the ticket for myself? Because at the transaction summary page the payment status was 'Waiting' for like, 1 hour.

Collected my tickets yesterday, their ticketing system a bit slow, Surprising, when I went to pay and collect my tickets, there was a few good seats available from L6 & L7, managed to swap my seats for a better view, all depending on cancelled tickets and your luck. Go early to get your tickets.

I booked my tickets thru the Net via ticketpro, they only allowed 3 days reservation, you must come over t pay and collect within 3 days or your tickets gone lah. I don't trust paying thru the Net using credit card.
Went to SS6, Dataran Glomac and within an hour, collected all my tickets, staffs were quite helpful.

I am afraid there is one and only ticketpro office and it is not in KL or Klang, it is somewhere at SS6 at Dataran Glomac.
Okay, from Klang to PJ, somewhere near Sunway, you will see a bridge that looks like Penang Bridge, turn left and go 12 'o clock for 2 km till you see Giant Supermarket on the right, immediately keep left to make a U turn, pass Giant you must turn left and g straight till you a T junction, turn left again and Dataran Glomac is on your left.
Ticketpro is on the 3rd floor, just behind SC Restaurent, hope it helps.

There are TWO sessions in Quarter Finals (August 17) on official website schedule, ie 12pm and 6pm. I got only one at 3pm thru my cousin in Malaysia. Can anyone verify? I have yet to contact the organizer. Thanks.

I'm not sure whether L5 to L8 are good seats but just nearest to the player seats. I thought opposite seats like L16 & L17 are supposed to be better in getting a good shot at the players. I'm still undecided where to sit at this moment.

I am afraid so. Have to wear school uniforms if you want to get student rates at the WBC. Bring extra clothings, once you get inside, go to the nearest washroom and change back to your own clothings you are comfortable, simple as ABC.

..those seatings, in the L5-L8 sections are still available(as i'm typing this)..So, if you want them, go to the website which abedeng provides..However, the seats are running out and the ones available are near the top rows...;)

L6 & L7 will be the best seats if u still can front seat, if not L5 or L8 are not too bad either..

Did you order thru the website? There is a choice, whether you want tickets to be sent via courier, pickup at their office, or download and print it out yourself (e-ticket). If you selected download and print e-ticket, then they won't be sending tickets to you.

..the best way to check & confirm abt your tickets is to call their office/Ticketpro, which i believe is located in Petaling Jaya and the ph. no. should be on the printout..If it's not there, i can give you their ph. no. ;)

I'm planning to have the gathering somewhere near the Stadium. Logistically its hard to have a gathering further away. Will see.

OK, ok, nothing to do with traffic jams (which hardly ever affects me :D), or Malaysian players not making it to final (if they don't, it's because they don't deserve it). And no, nobody would be willing to pick me up, I live 55 kms north of the Stadium. Probably would be the other way round.

When u get old, certain things are not so critical anymore. Plus the current TV coverage is much better than 20 years ago. Plus, there are replays if I need to judge questionable line calls ...... no replay means the call is bad. :p

Of course, things could change, that is if by the semifinal stage, I could regain the euphoria of the Great Thomas Cup Atmosphere of 1988 and 1992 ...... but I doubt that. Besides, it's mostly true, most of the climax happens up to the semis stage, even in the Thomas Cup.

I need excitement to justify paying "exorbitant" finals ticket prices, not MAS players qualifying for finals. Mebbe if there is a final between two of either LD, LCW and TH, or great MD and XD matchups, I would change my mind. Else it depends on the antics of my old "cheerleader" friend, let's see how he can draw the crowds ...... :D

Take the last great battle I went to in the same Putra Stadium 7 years ago, the Thomas Cup. Our MAS team was in transition (coach and player-wise) and out of depth. But I stuck around for the semifinal, 'cos I was sure Indonesia needed "extra" support to hold on to their title, against the strongest team of the tournament, Denmark.

I need excitement to justify paying "exorbitant" finals ticket prices, not MAS players qualifying for finals. Mebbe if there is a final between two of either LD, LCW and TH, or great MD and XD matchups, I would change my mind. Else it depends on the antics of my old "cheerleader" friend, let's see how he can draw the crowds ...... :D

:p..wow, sorry to hear the ending of that Final, i understand..But remember an old saying "That was then, this is now.."..hehe:D;).
Well, hope the Finals this time around will be more enticing that the Thomas Cup event 7 yrs ago..Besides, perhaps at that time after the Semis had ended, people already knew which team was going to win heading into the Final..:confused::p

hehehhee :D :D. it got nothing to do with seniority. it has everything to do with financial constraint. ha ha ha ha. i had to choose since i can only afford to see either the semis or the finals. so i choose the semis. plus i get pretty excited just watching it on tv all this time. i can hear the supporters and sometimes i feels like chanting along with them. and i like the close up shots that i would probably not see when i am sitting waaaaay up high in the stadium. kah kah kah :p

..or one should still be able to purchase tickets at the venue directly..However, keep in mind that the Lower tier seatings, especially those in the middle, could be sold out soon; as the last time i saw the seating availability, most of them are taken:p...You might get some on the sides though...;)

KUALA LUMPUR: Tickets for the World Championships were made available to the public at the Putra Stadium from yesterday and counters will be open between 10am and 6pm.
Tickets for the early rounds from Aug 13-16 are priced at RM18 (free seating), RM23 and RM38.
It will be RM28, RM33 and RM68 for the quarter-finals on Friday and RM41, RM53, RM103 for both the semi-finals and finals. Season tickets priced at RM165, RM208 and RM376 are also available.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have made available special packages for school children costing RM8 (early rounds), RM11 (quarter-finals) and RM13 (semi-finals and finals). The tournament's ticket hotline is 03-78804428.
