For those who enquire regarding the Gathering. Since most of the people and BC members will be watching at the VENUE during the QF,SF and F Sessions.

1. We all will meet at the Venue for Photo Op etc, then after the games ( my suggestion is After Semis ) we will go to a Restaurant nearby the venue which i will pre-book depending on numbers of people who will be going to attend the Gathering/Dinner.

Each person may have to contribute estimate around RM30-RM60 per/pax for the food/venue.

It may be less depending on the venue and their package. However the gathering will not be Only Eating and chatting. We will have some fun games( Not badminton ) and some other suprises as well.

I know everyone both from Overseas and Locally will be VERY busy meeting their other friends/relatives during the Tournament Dates. But please make time for the gathering. Its not often we will be able to meet up in a group like this.

The date that i'm looking at will be SEMI FINAL DAY ( 18th August 07 ).

why not big picnic (supper since it might be near midnight) near the stadium? maybe an open field or something. BBQ maybe. hehehehe :D just brainstorming. imagine a mamak stall with 30 to 50 BC members. it will be like a stadium atmosphere. hehehehe.

mobil station beside PLUS h'way - 10 minutes drive (24hrs, not sure)

There is a McDonalds very near to the stadium which is located beside(inside) the Petronas gas station along the KL-Seremban Highway.(Not the opposite one beside the Mobil station).

There are several fast food restaurants at Carrefour Seri Petaling and a food court outside next to it. I'm not sure what time do they close...........

like pizza hut!:D

Fast food is ideal if there are Muslims among us.

The nearest McDonald's is actually at Endah Parade, within walking distance.

Endah Parade also has Shakey's, KFC and several others. The food court outside Endah Parade has been demolished for development.

Re food, especially for foreign visitors, it is not a good idea to go to McDonalds. I suggest satay, nasi lemak, hokkien mee, and don't forget a challenge for our foreign friends-durian.

Yes it was Jaclyn who volunteered her place the last time. Judging from her comments, her house is not far away from our badminton venue, Bt Jalil, hopefully it is big enough to accommodate about 50 of us.

Jaclyn, are you still ok in inviting to your place on Sat, semi finals night. Your parents have no objections?

If you are okay, I suggest you get in touch with Ants and plan the menu and programme. Is it easy to get local food, like satay, mee siam/mee rebus, chicken drumsticks/wings and maybe some special local dishes from near your place to cater to about 50. Of course we should ascertain how many can make it first to know the rough numbers.

We already have an indication of who can make it for the makan get together but we can reconfirm again in case some may change their minds.

1. But first contact ants, if your parents are agreeable.
2. Then if ants feels it is possible to have it at your place, post a site map here for all those who are interested.
3. List your menu, including drinks and some members may be able to suggest more items.
4. List your programme for the evening.
5. Transport: Members who drive and can make it for the get together should indicate that they have room (indicate number of seats availabe) to transport them (esp. foreign visitors like Chris, huangkwokhau, etc) to your place.

Others can take a cab there, hopefully taxis are easily available and your house address will be available on the site map.

Re food, especially for foreign visitors, it is not a good idea to go to McDonalds. I suggest satay, nasi lemak, hokkien mee, and don't forget a challenge for our foreign friends-durian.


Actually, I already had a lot of Satay & very nice yellowish dry & small
seeded durian in KK. I don`t mind to have more. My friends say Satay

If you are up to walking it is about a 30-minute walk away. If you are familiar with the location of Endah Parade, getting there from the stadium is halfway. If not, we can fetch by car a few rounds. I have a car and my sister has one so I don't think we need more than 3 rounds. Plus, others may have vehicles as well.

If this plan goes through, we will meet somewhere at the stadium and I will give out location maps to the drivers/walkers.

Tentatively, I will order nasi beryani with the usual dishes (slightly less than the head count - perhaps even half the head count if there are lots of other things to try), I will also get satay from the Kesas place that someone mentioned before. There are fruit stalls in Seri Petaling and if anyone fancies durian or other local fruits, go ahead. What else can you think of?

1. be make sure that Saturday's matches will be on two courts (and therefore will end around six or seven pm)? ants, are you able to find out?
2. if (1) is ok, can we have another headcount latest by Thursday night (MAS time GMT+8). I may also PM those on the list to confirm their attendance, or maybe they can do so verbally when they meet me at the stadium. I just want to have a ballpark figure of the number.

There are a couple of small hotel or inns at sri petaling eatery area near the fishing pond. About 300m from Carrefour. Shd be about $80rm above. U can try your luck there. Pretty new and convenient.

For foreigners or people from other kampung. You can try the pudu hotel. Check the room first before you rent it. or Grand Olympic hotel near china town or opposite the stadium negara next to the basketball association. Shound have plenty of rooms near PUDU jail (hang tuah station) as well.

..thanks for helping out with the gathering, hcyong...I think for this gathering, IMO, it's better if you or ants decide on 1 or 2 or 3 places of eatery. Keep it flexible. From there, we can announce & decide as early as Thursday how many people are going etc. Once decided, then on Friday you guys can make any last minute reservations/confirmation.

The nearest McDonald's is actually at Endah Parade, within walking distance.

Endah Parade also has Shakey's, KFC and several others. The food court outside Endah Parade has been demolished for development.

Not sure if there is Pizza Hut.

i have to agree. let's meet up prior to the matches. my cousin have plans later that night to watch EPL matches on astro and thus she will only agree to go with me if the gathering is before the matches start at 2. :D

:p..and wasn't able to meet with most of the BCers, but i heard they had a very simple gathering today...I believe they had the 2nd part of the gathering after all the matches ended-heard some of them went out to enjoy some satays...yummy!!hhhhhhmmmmmm..:rolleyes::p :rolleyes::D:p

The Badminton Central members had picture taking with the Indonesian coach before the game started. We had another photo opportunity after the games. Ants treated us to a satay dinner. It was a simple gathering but we had fun. We did not waste the rare change of getting to meet other members whom we only know by their log in "names". There were more than 40 who signed in but only 9 of us who actually went out for the gathering.
Thanks a lot Ants for the satay dinner, Huangkwokhau for my drink and most especially to Robin who drove me back to my hotel.

Apologies for leaving you all so quickly today. It was great meeting many of you (if only briefly). My cousin actually took me to a satay dinner elsewhere (Petaling Jaya) as I had initially thought the gathering had been cancelled :( oh well, next time :)

I'm heading home tomorrow (finals day) to prepare for work the following day, so I hope you all enjoy the games.
