View Full Version : Body Smash (Point of Impact : The crotch or Chest ;) *humor thread*
giant_q_tip 07-07-2007, 01:06 AM Ok so lets share your stories about hitting people in the crotch or the chest
(keep this as truthful as possible, and humorous (dont share if the victim ends up in the hospital, lets keep the atmosphere funny and enjoyable)
so a few weeks ago i was playing in the front, my partner smashed and my oppoent returned with a net shot, but it was fairly high and slow. I smashed the birdie and it ended up hitting my opponent in the nipple. He ended up rubbing it for the whole day (probably).
My opponent smashed and hit my crotch, i was about to block that area but was too late and ended up hitting my thumb. Im 16 so my defensive skills arent that good =( i want to do a trick shot between the legs
yehh i guess its not that funny
but anyway share away guys =) and gals =)
XKazeCloudX 07-07-2007, 01:16 AM haha you smashed it that hard on HIS nipples? i don't think he had to rub it all day. if it was a girl i think that would hurt a bit.
iv'e smashed girls in the butt cuz they turn around when they know im about to do it. and i don't usualy smash against girls anyways, just don't like to XD
ionoo 07-07-2007, 01:24 AM Well you see we were practicing clears right, and my partner didn't clear far enough so I took the opportunity to smash the bird down and what do you know it ends up hitting the guy in the crotch to the left of my partner. Funny thing is that is the same guy I always end up hitting. Once I kicked the ball and it hit him in the face. Another with my racket because he and I miscommunicated during a doubles game.
Qu3sT10nMaRk 07-07-2007, 10:06 PM ... smash to the ballz isnt really anything unless from A Ranks ... yesterday i got hit in the ballz with a baseball bat(plastic and accident, not hard) after i kept saying stuff about his "girlfriend" (not really i just like teasing us)
DivingBirdie 07-08-2007, 02:57 AM i once (unintentionally) drove a shuttle into a beginner's forehead. i really felt guilty cos i think it hurts
NanoBatien 07-08-2007, 03:51 AM I saw someone get hit by the shuttle in the bridge of his glasses, and the glasses broke. :(
Dummey 07-08-2007, 03:54 AM Well, I think the most painful thing is... back during the school year and I was getting ready to return a smash, but it came way faster then i expected. Ended up hitting my racket which in turn hit me in the balls. Quite painful to say the last.
jas1121 07-08-2007, 05:49 AM Once during a competition, me and my partner smash this guy's crotch like 3 times. 2 came from me. But it didnt hurt i think, that guy was like laughing as it was a small tournament and we are all friends.
Athelete1234 07-08-2007, 01:00 PM It doesn't usually happen when I'm looking, but yesterday, during lessons, one of the coaches served the shuttle to the other coach, and ended up hitting him in the head.
martin8768 07-08-2007, 01:09 PM lmao once i wasent paying attention and the shuttle hit me in the head, it was either a clear or a serve, dont remember, also i hit a guy in the eye i felt bad cuz he went home it hurt so much and i hit girls in XD all the time :P anywere, chest, butt, head, crotch, i like to scare them. also i hit a guy square in the forehead on a net kill, oh my i laughed so hard i couldnt play, lots of silly stuff happens at my practices.
wing-omega5-0 07-08-2007, 05:15 PM LoL heres one that has happened repeatedly. The guy that does drop-in where I go to(at a community centre) plays baddy with us occasionally just for fun. And so when we're goofing around not playing games, sometimes he does a scissor jump, smashes and nails himself in the crotch. XD I think it's happened about 3 or 4 times now. Everyone in the gym just stops to laugh at him for a while whenever it happens haha.
ViningWolff 07-09-2007, 11:40 AM Couple years ago I was playing mixed at our club. I drilled a big smash at my friend Karen who playing front on the other side. She made a damned good cut off and dumped the shuttle at my partner. So we keep playing the rally until she starts shaking her head and waving her racquet, mumbling " no, no no. i didn't hit it"
My smash had hit her in the head so hard, the shuttle had bounced back across the net. She had this welt/bruise in the middle of her forhead and was dazed for a couple minutes.
The good news is that she was back on court playing against me later that night.
tone3891 07-09-2007, 08:03 PM I have been on both ends of this situation.
I had been shot on the forehead and neck once by my opponent (a neighbour of mine) when i didn't clear the birdie far enough. Then there was the time the same guy hit me on the back right between the shoulder when we played as partners.
I got my payback though, last weekend i managed to hit one directly on his nose. We laughed alot abt it.:D

Hm....Just out of curiosity, what do the rules say about the bird nailing someone in the head and then popping back over? The situation's never happened so I didn't look into it.
Mark A 07-11-2007, 05:34 PM A few weeks ago we were having a knock up before a doubles match when my partner played a routine smash... then screamed. I was in front of him, so when I turned around he was already doubled up on the floor holding his nuts - he had followed through onto them.
When you HEAR an impact to somebody's nuts, that's NEVER good news. Luckily, he's good natured, so he didn't mind us ripping him about it for the rest of the session (or about the time he sat on a pint glass that had been left on a bench at the side of the sports hall - yes, it broke!).
the_oro 07-12-2007, 07:25 PM when i was fooling around with my group of friends, we had 4 on the court on each side, anyways there was a high net/drop shot so i punished that shot by hitting my friend right smack on the head, and it was a hard net kill too! the shuttle bounced up 2 feet after impact. i bet the guy had a big lump there after that
DinkAlot 07-12-2007, 08:37 PM Ok so lets share your stories about hitting people in the crotch or the chest
Oh boy, too many. :p I "earn" chest shots just about other time I play.
First off: the purpose of a chest shot is to jam your opponents, not hit them.
I learned real quickly, if you can smash chest high and very hard, most people can't return it. They either get hit by the shuttle in confusion (not expecting such a high shot), block it short of the net or float it for your partner in front to put it away.
But you have to know when and how to use it. When playing against advanced players with good defense I usually don't go for chest shots that often because if they guess right, they can tee-off.
Caveats:
I don't do chest shots to try and purposefully hit my opponents. I do them to try and win the point because usually the opponents don't expect it and it's harder to defend.
If you are going to smash chest high, smash into the body, preferably the opponent's forehand arm pit area. Do not smash chest high away from the opponent as he will have a better chance of returning it. The purpose of a chest shot is to jam the opponent.
I do not recommend smashing chest high if you do not have a strong enough smash because your opponents will be able to counter quite easily.
OK, *humor* time: my best chest shot was against Coach Alex...
...he lifted deep to me and was taunting me to smash at him. I smashed about four times and each time he returned my smash joking, "Is that all you got?! Come on, harder!" :p Well, on the fifth smash, I lined up, jump and smashed as hard as I could. I got lucky, collapsed the feathers and it was a bullet which hit Coach Alex in the chest, it richocheted off his chest and he caught the bird and screamed, "Cheater!" I replied, "Of course, I can't smash through you so I have to cheat." The audience was laughing. :p:D:D
allan's shuttle 07-13-2007, 09:57 AM can someone advice me how to produce a powerful smash....basically i'm a controlled player & i could not break my opponent's defence using my smash..........KINDLY ADVICE

but my smashes are innacurate so it basically goes everywhere and im like not an expert so i play with like intermediate players so lots of funny things happen :D
ViningWolff 07-13-2007, 12:16 PM See this is where Panda and Wolff Philosophy diverge.
Wolff way stresses hitting the person. The smash is so fast they cannot react to hit it and to a smaller degree ensure that the bird doesn't go sailing out the back line.
Then again, that's why it's Gentle Panda and Big Bad Wolff. :D
DinkAlot 07-13-2007, 12:32 PM See this is where Panda and Wolff Philosophy diverge.
I guess I should clarify. I do hit it at the person. But the intent is not for them to get hit by the bird; rather for them to react poorly and make a weak return.
OK, I guess I do "aim" at the opponent but saying I aim in their general direction in hopes that they have a weak return is so much "gentler". :p

just a question, why do pros or always like serve directly towards their opponent
im not sure how to clarify it heh
and also how do you improve your smash returns?
i always end up returning smashes with a netshot, and i use my thumb too, but can barely return smashes like all the way back
P.S bleh im turning this into like a question thread sorry =)
Russki Bear 07-15-2007, 11:33 PM I think because it gives them less room to generate angles on the return.
MikeBee 07-23-2007, 06:14 AM Well I didn't get hit but last night the shuttle was coming at my face so I leaned backwards to avoid it and fell over landing on my rear. Luckily the shuttle then went out but still very embarassing.

Yep. I learned this the hard way. :p
Russki Bear 07-23-2007, 06:29 PM :D That isn't embarrassing - all you have to do is turn it into a fantastic dodge instead of a trip!

Ouch..i could only imagine what a 100% Wolff boomer would be after only experiencing a 60 - 75% power smash that you had while you were injured! Eeks!
