BEIJING: China badminton coach Li Yongbo has held out an olive branch to world number two Chen Hong, saying the resurgent free agent could still make the Olympic team, local media reported yesterday.

Chen, 27, quit the national team after being omitted from last December's Asian Games, but came out of retirement in April.

Yongbo later denounced Chen's comeback on his own terms as being bad for the national team, but on the eve of the China Masters was more conciliatory, the Beijing Morning Post said.
“If he can maintain this level, and earn enough Olympic qualifying points, then he still has a chance to represent the national team at next year's Olympics,” Yongbo said of Chen, who last week won the Thailand Open and has climbed to second in the world rankings. – Reuters

How many players/pairs from a country can qualify for a single category at the Olympics? I know there's a limit.

LYB has a reason to soften his stance towards Chen Hong.

LYB has a reason to soften his stance towards Chen Hong.

that was because Li Yongbo boss already mentioned in the press about allowing the better players to compete in Olympic even though she/he is not in the national squad.

Yes... but LYB has a reason "behind" it. ;)
