It has been very exciting to watch both match between LinDan vs Bao and LCW vs Taufik

Yet another Epic battle this time between LCW vs LinDan. Can Lindan avenge his lost to LCW in Sudirman Cup? Or can LCW seals it and have a bragging right that he is definaltely BACK? We will just have to see.

Wong CH vs Wacha.
Both have prove themselves after winning against KJ for WCH and Boonsak for the New kid on the block Wacha. Wong CH is going to fight for his first FINAL after injury..and WACHA wants to prove to the China that he is for real.
Who will reign supreme?

I think Lee Chong Wei is the overwhelming favourite for the title now. He has overcome the hardest hurdle by defeating the in-form Taufik, and Lin Dan would find him to hot to handle.

LD - LCW (45% - 55%)
WCH - Wacha (60% - 40%)

LCW will win in 3 sets
WCH will win in 3 sets

FINAL

LCW vs WCH

LD - LCW (45% - 55%)
WCH - Wacha (60% - 40%)

WCH will win in 3 sets

I will temper this down slightly ....

LD vs LCW (49% - 51%) - only reason I'm giving 2% advantage to LCW is because he will be playing without pressure and has the psychological advantage, LD is playing as last CHN hope, in front of his fans. Skills and workrate are about even.

WCH - WACHA (53% - 47%) - All boils down on whether WCH's experience is enough to douse the fire in WACHA's red hot form. At this point, both these unseeded players will not want to throw away a chance to feature in a Super Series final.

Wacha beat two Chinese players( Chen Yu included) + Boonsak... give him some respect, as he earned it!!! Just watch Wacha will definitely make it to the final in this tournament!!!

Lin Dan had to fight all out with Bao in the QF, so preparation wise, he too should be ready. It will be a good fight, and Lin Dan will do everything to get into the final. Lin Dan (+ possible line judges' assists) will beat LCW in tomorrow for sure!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sunday's Mens singles final will feature Lin Dan vs Wacha(which will go into my video collection), and just wait for Wacha's first Super Series victory!!!:p:)

If LD wasn't stretched today, I would have picked him. But he was taken by BAO to 3 sets so that balanced off the 3 sets LCW took to beat Taufik. In other words both were flat out today. That being the case and also that LCW is in form, LCW will win. LD would have to be at his best if he does not want to be beaten too heavily.

The way LCW pulled away from Taufik in the final points of the 3rd set is encouraging and LD must be wandering tonight how he will handle LCW. I think the more he worries about it, the more it will work in LCW's favour.

I am enjoying watching badminton again. :)

Whom told you Lin Dan is my hero???
I am Chinese, but my favorite player really is Peter Gade. Then I like everyone whom proves to be a winner...eg. Lin Dan, Taufik, of course the legends like Yang Yang, ZJW, etc.
I also tend to go against people whom are totally bias toward their fellow countryman though!!!:p

In this tournament, Wacha proved(and is still proving) that he too can be a winner!!! and he earned my respect for beating some tough opponents this far... most of you don't know how hard it is to improve if you are in a country where there is no good player to practice with.:crying: One can only imagine the kind of effort Wacha put forward to make it happen, it must have been very tough training.

Will home ground advantage really count?

Will there be sufficiently large numbers of English, Malaysian and Indonesian supporters to even the score?

Or will playing away from home with a hugely partisan crowd against them merely stir them on to winning ways?

We shall see tomorrow but the statistics below seem to favour the host country as more of its players/teams are featured:

XD : England 2, China 1, Indonesia 1
MD : Indonesia 2, China 1, Malaysia 1
MS : Malaysia 2, China 1, Poland 1
WS : China 2, France 1, Hong Kong 1
WD : China 2, Indonesia 1, England 1

Summary: China 7, Indonesia 4, England 3, Malaysia 3, Poland 1, France 1 and Hong Kong 1.

Those who still think that England is a weak team should really think twice.

What is sure is that an Indonesian pair will appear in the MD Final, most likely Kido and Setiawan.

And it will be a dream come true for all Malaysians if both LCW and WCH won their matches to face each other in the MS Final. So too for England if both their XD teams won their matches, which is less likely.

But could both Pi Hongyan and Yip Pui Yin upset their WR No.1 and 2 China counterparts?

Rexy would be faced with a happy dilemma if TBS and OSH should prevail over topseeds Fu and Cai.

Thanks for your analysis, but there is one crucial point you missed though. Allow me to summarize it for you in one sentence:

It will be a dream come true when China clean sweeps all 5 division in this China masters 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) It is very possible as China is the only nation that has representative in each division in the semi-final, and all China representatives are title-contenders' level:)

So many malaysian and indonesian players supporters here,So China needs me to be on their side.I just try to support minority team lah:D:D

They maybe can be in the final,But I guess once again Zheng/Gao will beat them

China is not a minority team... :D Ha ha ha... The Indonesian Chinese [myself included] are few in numbers compared to the rest of the Indonesian population, but in there are maybe 1.3 billion Chinese on this planet. They won't need additional support lah... :p Not in BC forum, not elsewhere lah...

As for Lili-Nova, well I also think there is a 60% chance that Encim Gao and Encek Zheng will defeat them, but hey, let's hope they play their best best best and show Gao-Zheng that they got the 2005 World Championship not by accident... ;)

Chong Wei already booked his flight ticket back to Malaysia after the semi-final, and the taxi will be waiting for him outside the stadium when the match starts, and Chong Wei told the taxi driver to wait there for about 30 minutes, then take him to the airport.:)

Lin Dan promised Chong Wei that he will be sure to beat Chong Wei so fast that Chong Wei will catch his flight on time for sure!:) + Lin Dan promised to pay for the taxi ride as well... :D:D:D

In the event, that WCH likes a happy meal too, I am sure Wacha wouldn't mind buying him one as well... just no toy included in the combo.

Ooh, it's quite heated already on this thread. Many accusations of lack of patriotism, jumping on bandwagons, wish lists disguised as predictions and of course WACHA-MANIA

My takes:

WS

Ning Zhang vs Hongyan Pi. ZN had to dig deeeeeep to vanquish WYH. Her considerable experience proved to be the difference on the day. Pi also had a tough 3 gamer against Xu, so who is more tired? Does it matter? Actually, yes. Pi demonstrated previously against ZN that by dragging the match on, she could win. And that's about the only chance she has. ZN won't let that happen. By bye Pi (sob, sob :()

Pui Yin Yip vs Xingfang Xie. XXF left it late yesterday to beat a very game Lu Lan. How will 3 long games affect her, not the fittest of players at best. While Yippy had her own 3 game odyssey against CSC, she is fit and tough. Can out tomboy cause enough trouble for XXF? A really tough one to call. I'm closing my eyes and calling for an upset.

MS

Dan Lin vs Chong Wei Lee. Both qualified after tough matches which went the distance. Both are fast and super fit. LCW is a bit more refined but LD has incredible fighting spirit. Oddly enough, LCW has demonstrated lately that he is mentally tough as nails while LD's has wavered from time to time. He doesn't seem to be the "killer" that he was. So I predicted TH to beat LCW yesterday but only reluctantly so, and BCL pushed LD to the limit. Based on the way LCW was able to sustain his level of play when facing game points, I once again reluctantly (closing eyes) pick LCW. The difference is paper thin.

Przemyslaw Wacha vs Choong Hann Wong. This is a fun one. Once in a while we get a fairy tale performance from a relative unknown that captures everyone's imgination. He's carrying so much momentum that he could run through a bank vault. WACHA-MANIA is alive and well. In WCH, Wacha is facing an opponent who is determined in his own quest. This guy is so tough and fights like a tiger. At this stage the adrenaline is pumping so violently age is not a factor. WCH is also uber-experienced and has seen it all against the world's best. And I wonder if being a lefty is factor. Prediction time: we all wrote WACHA off against the smoking hot Boonsak but he prevailed. This time though I think the crafty WCH will outfox the Pole, bringing this popular joyride to an end.

MD

H.F. Fu/Y. Cai vs B.S. Tan/S.H. Ong. The MAS boys have done remarkably well to reach this stage of the tournament and it would be no shame to bow out to the World #1. FHF/CY are so on top of their game that nobody else is even close. Thanks for coming MAS guys and collect your parting gifts at the door.

L. Hadiyanto/A. Yulianto vs M. Kido/H. Setiawan. Have you ever tried to kill a cockroach by whacking it with a rolled up newspaper, only for the insect to keep squirming and trying to escape? I can't help but think that no matter how much Luluk and Alvent have been beaten up, they have managed to survive. I wrote them off the last 2 rounds but, dang it, they're still here. I like Markis and Hendra and they should finally be able to exterminate their INA teammates. And I don't think it'll be close either.

Wacha-mania is un-stoppable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p:D:D: D

Did I mention Wacha will be buying a "happy meal" to both WCH and LD just to cheer them up after Wacha hand them a free badminton lesson?:p

Unless LCW really want a "happy meal" that badly, or else it will be much better for him(since he always need more confidence with no pressure, or he can't play:rolleyes:) to just lose to Lin Dan in the semi-final, then having to proceed and have Wacha open up a can of whoop-a** on him which will again destroys his confidence and put him back to being MR. Quarter-finalist.;)

Is not necessary as we all know Wacha will win over WCH... although out of all Malaysian singles player, I do admire WCH for his toughness though. Still, Wacha will win over WCH, then another win over LD, and to be the first ever European player to defeat 5 asian players(whom are all from Asia) to claim a super series title.:cool::cool:

LCW over LD
I think a few will disagree with me that LCW is in top form and high confidence after beating TH in 3 thrilling sets in the QF yesterday. A win over LD in last month's SC has given LCW a boost in morale. Pressure is definitely on LD simply because of being the last CHN rep left in the draw and playing in front of home crowd.
I would say, LCW has the slight edge.

WCH over Wacha
Both being underdogs and giant-killers, I'm rooting for WCH simply because of his experience.

I find it funny how the thought patterns work for most Malaysians... let me explain:

If LCW could gain an advantage in terms of confidence over LD(according to Malay fans) after a tough win against TH, then why don't they think the same way with Wacha whom also should gain an advantage in terms of confidence over WCH since he beat out 3 (supposingly) better players.

WCH being old, will be replaced by the word "experienced", but when it comes to the Danes(Eriksen + Lungaard), Malaysians will definitely call them "Old" instead of "experienced"...

Way to go, guys!!!:D

How about I send you a super burger called the "Bacon-ator" to you after Wacha wins over WCH tomorrow.

By the way, the baconator is made of 6 slices of bacon on top of 2 x "1/4" pounds beef paddies. It is actually one of the most popular burger available in the U.S and Canada right now.:p Sometimes, I wonder how people can survive after eating 2 of that(850+ calories each) without the fries and the soft-drink to go along.

Both Wacha and WCH beat 3 higher ranked players in their previous rounds. I'm just saying that WCH has the experience advantage over Wacha.:)

WCH is 30 just like Peter Gade (31), I don't call it "old" but "experienced".
But Eriksen & Lungaard are 35 & 37, that's what I really call it "old". A player more than 35 is considered "old", as far as sports is concerned.:D

And I don't think it'll be close either.

thank you madbad for some well thought out analysis.

I will write the biggest, most detailed analysis as to how Wacha managed to win over WCH convincingly, and send him packing home along with LCW, and the MD pair. But that will have to wait until I download the match, and watch it a few times though.:p

Then, after Wacha wins over Lin Dan in the final, it will be a 2-pages essay as to why Wacha will be the hot favor to win in this year's world championship!!!:p:D:D:D

Semifinal Lines Up :

Court 2

XD : Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms vs Zheng Bo/Gao Ling
This will be an interesting match to see, fortunately it will be on TV
court. Hopefully CCTV-5 will show it on time. The favor goes to the
Chinese pair, but I think Nathan/Gail will not give up easily and there is
a possibility that the English pair will beat this fancy Chinese pair.

MD : Cai Yun/FU Haifeng vs Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock
This is most likely the end of the road for this young Malaysian pair. The
Chinese pair really has a home advantage and of course no doubt they
are currently the number one MD. But who knows, can this Malaysian
pair create a big upset? We shall see.

MS : Lin Dan vs Lee Chong Wei
This is the most awaited match for today. Lin Dan has a home
advantage but Lee Chong Wei is really on his top form as he has beaten
one of my favourite player, Taufik Hidayat in the quarter final.
This is hard to predict, I would say 50-50 for both.

WS : Zhang Ning vs Pi Hongyan
Everyone knows who Zhang Ning is, no doubt she has a great chance to
beat Pi Hongyan again. But I really would like to see Pi beat Zhang in
front of Zhang's home crowd. Although, I would say 60-40 for Zhang
Ning...but again..nothing is impossible.

WD : Du Jing/Yu Yang vs Lilyana Natsir/Vita Marissa
Du/Yu has greater chance, but this new talented Indonesian player has
been performing so well in this tournament. They beated Chin/Wong and
the cute Japanese pair. I am really hoping that they could create
another upset in this match. But again, no pressure for the Indonesian
pair.

armortecfans
07-13-2007, 04:57 PM
Court 3

XD : Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg
The English pair has never beaten Nova/Lilyana up to now. So, most
probably the Indonesian pair will advance to the final. I hope they will
play as they are thirsty to have a title after quite some times.
But, this English pair has made a lot of improvement, so Nova/Lilyana,
please be careful. :)

WS : Yip Pui Yin vs Xie Xingfang
A lot of people in this forum must give a favor for Xie Xingfang. Yes, she
has a bigger chance to win...but remember, this Hongkong lady could
create an upset. Remember, when Yip beated Zhang Ning in Asian
Games 2006 last December in Doha?? Nobody would think that Yip could
do that, but in fact She did it...so Yip, we are waiting for your upset.

MS : Przemyslaw Wacha vs Wong Choong Hann
I pick Wong Choong Hann to win, but yeah, this Polish hero has created
a lot of upset, and could he make another one tomorrow? However, I
hope that this match will be an entertaining one. Come on guys, show
your best.

MD : Hendra Setiawan/Markis Kido vs Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto
Hendra/Kido has greater chance to win, and I pick them tomorrow to
win. So far, Luluk/Alven has improved since some previous Super series.
Could they go further to the final? Hendra/Kido will prove that they are
the better one.

WD : Yang Wei/Zhao Tingting vs Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg
The question is : Can the English pair make a big upset?
Yang/Zhao will win, I pick 70-30 for them, but I hope Gail/Donna will
give a tough fight.

These are all my comments for semifinal....hope we will enjoy the matches

Much as I want to give credit to Wacha who has gone so far, my gut feeling is that his fairytale run could be ended by any of his 3 other fellow semi-finalists. Another gut feeling is that in case he does advance to the final, he has a better chance to win the title if his opponent is LD.

Yesterday, the Black Friday 13th turned out to be a GREAT day for Msia team for having 3 candidates playing in the SF. Let's hope today at least one of them make it through...

LCW vs LD (49-51): very very very tough game. I expect another titanic game with a rubber game thriller. Whoever wins it is very likely to run away with the MS title (No disrespect to WACHA and WCH). LCW wanna keep his winning streak going into the WC08, yet LD wanna revenge for his lost during SudirmanCup. Misbun, pls do ur magic :D and LYB, pls dun threaten to break LCW's leg

WoW, China Masters SS is the most interesting Super Series thus far, so many surprising have realized here.

MS -- LCW vs LD, after superb performance defeated the biggest hurdle TH yesterday, no reason to lost for LCW today. For the first time, it will be no CHN MS representative in final of SS tourney, as we know CHN always secured at least one MS finalist in the last round from MAS to INA SS.
*1st MAS : PG vs BCL
*2nd KOR : LD vs CJ
*3rd AE : LD vs CY
*4th SUI : CJ vs Simon
*5th SIN : Boonsak vs CY
*6th INA : LCW vs BCL
WCH vs Wacha -- I guess this brilliant Poland will continue his breakthrough action. What an impressing Wacha!

WS -- ZN vs Pi, can Pi make another shock again? No, I guess.
XXF vs Yip PY, wanna see Yip create upset

MD -- very glad, certainly one final ticket for INA. Cai/Fu against Kido/Setiawan tomorrow

WD -- seems another all-CHN-final in process

XD -- ZB/GL vs Nathan/Gail, tight games but still believe the Chinese will walk into finale
Clark/Kellogg vs Nova/Lilyana, INA pair has a chance to win this.

I am still in the dark as to whether this is for prediction or for wish.

Wish: No doubt it must be my countryman, Lee Chong Wei (of course I am biased towards my own countryman)

Prediction: If this were played outside China and Malaysia, I would say LCW has the slight edge. But this match being in China, it could be bane or boon for LD. I think it's 50-50 on whether it will be bane or boon. So, no prediction there. 50-50.

Wacha (pronounced Vaha, sorry to disappoint those who made "wacha" rhymes :)) defeated Chen Yu and Lu Yi. Rather impressive but not even nearly as impressive as beating Boonsak. Right up to that QF match, I had Boonsak as a sure-lock for a semi-final spot (against Chen Hong).

WCH defeated Chen Hong, Sony and KJ. This is also very impressive.

Before playing Chen Yu, I never even thought about it. Before Lu Yi, I thought the first-round win was a flash in the pan. Before Boonsak, I thought yeah ok, not bad but no way this time.

Well, against WCH, I think WCH will prevail. Stubborn me. I could eat my words (if I knew how to do that), but I'd not be too sad if Wacha wins actually. Something fresh for a change.

Meanwhile I think Kido/Setiawan benefitted much from the absence of the Koreans and Tony/Candra (and also the elimination of CTF/LWW). They must take Alven/Luluk seriously though.

WS: A usual Xie-Zhang final on the cards, but the Chinese have never looked more in trouble in this event for a long time. If Pi and Yip wants to spring an upset, now is the best chance.

WD: Another usual all-Chinese final, but like WS, this is the best chance for the outsiders to upset the odds, especially Marissa/Natsir.

XD: The most open event. Any combination could equally be in the final. But I predict the English to lose in both semis.

LCW finally break his jinx over the player he never bear in SS before (TH) yesterday.
It doesnt really matter whether he will win today or not coz he already beats LD in straight sets at SC 07.
He shld conserved his energy & should not reveal much his game plan to his possible opponents in the next great tournament (WC07) in his home soil.

Now is 22 LCW : 7 LD
where are all those LD supporters?

Some of us are neutral when it comes to LCW and LD, but after LCW's terrific form in defeating Taufik yesterday, we realistically vote for LCW today... :)

Maybe even some LD supporters cannot deny that Lin's unsavory form recently... and as proven in the Sudirman Cup match against LCW was not a good sign...

This SF LD vs LCW will not end out in a 3 match thriller.. Whoever win the 1st set.. Will simply go in to the final..
LD has more willingness to win this game for his home fans than LCW.
However, IF LCW come out on top in 1st set. There could be end of the road for LD here.
I see only a 2-0 wins for either players .

Just that we watch the live scoreboard or webcast. Either way, it matters not... Pal, got ur Redbull ready to stay awake again? :D Here u go, a Redbull, fedex to U...

Malaysia BOLEH...!!!
Actually my thought I was working on a project at 3.30 am in the morning, but when I told her about the live scoring and CCTV5 incident, she said, "that is sad to look at a scoreboard at 3.30 in the morning. I told her how the heck I can work on anything when LCW and TH was smashing each other silly on the other side of the ocean...well, I am a addicted to something, may it be baddy!! I want to share this discussion I had with a buddy at the local fitness center with you all...I was watching the live streaming and CCTV5 switched the darn thing to volleyball...and I as well as fellow BCers then resigned to watching live scoring and commenting point by point on the threads in BC forum...with some fella posted comments like "need to call ambulance", "I can't take this anyway", "LCW get the next point", "indra's humors", "TH pulling even", tension and so on.
And the time on my side was 3.30 am ...my buddy was amazed at our craziness and said, "you guys and gals are not even watching the game live but instead looking at the live scoreboard", that is fanatic at the highest order and nutty to stay awake at 3.30 am looking at scoreboard, should go get a life....it was then I realized we are all true fanatics of this wonderful game that we share a passion with...and oblivion to the fact that we are picturing the game being played out in our mind and chasing our idol and hero to win the game, salivating the tension as the game was so close throughout...At least we are addicted to a sport, and not drugs, etc....life could be worst, as I told my buddy...this morning, I felt lethagic and tired due to lack of sleep. I told my wife about this incident and she too said I should get a life and really, really nutty to watched a scoreboard at 3.30 am!! Ahhh, woman being her, how can you make her understand the fun and thrill we had and GUESS WHAT! we are going for it again in the semi-final coming up with LCW vrs LD...another night of no sleep, what the heck, won't kill us. ...hahaha!!! LOL!!:D:p
That's why you keep coming back.
Because we understand you here.
Tell them proudly that badminton is part of your life everytime when they tell you to get a life.

Yeah. I dont fancy his win over LD today anymore.
I just want to see him play well and get this as an experience in preparation of the coming world championship.
Just like how WCH play and lost to CH in thailand and come back to beat him in more important game.

yes. it is just hard to describe.

good post. +karma for you OneToughBirdie!

My profession is a project manager/technical engineer...unless some idiot directors or clients call project meeting on Tuesday night and I reluctantly have to attend (they are my actual bosses), otherwise if I get to set project meeting dates with contractors or consultants (I am the boss) and I would never set for Tuesday night out of town nor Monday night too, as both nights are my badminton nights, I wouldn't miss those nights for any damn projects, whatever there are worth...my playing buddy Cooler would attest to that...never miss a Tuesday night, unless some darn emergency stuff comes up...nutty and crazy as I am about this baddy game, even though I ain't good. I actually plan 2 years ago to attend WC07 in MAS (my home away from home), after attending WC05 but my daughter's final swimming season (she is retiring) ends the same time as WC07, that sucks, cos' LCW really has a good shot at winning it, so are MAS MD and TH final WC, but what the heck a dad can do, life is never easy. When WC07 starts, that gonna hurts and kills me, and I have to watch live-scoreboard again. ..hahaha!! sigh!!! :D:p

Well said! I think you pretty much characterize us "Live Score Rats" who are so addicted to international badminton that we easily lose track of time. Many of us, like yourself, are immigrants from badminton-rich countries and when it's in your blood, it's hard to ignore it. I personally find it quite fascinating the different types of characters that hang around the Live Score board. The permanent "heart-attackers", the reverse psychologists, the player-bashers, the brash predictors, the "wise-men" (or so they think)... but it takes all sorts to make things interesting. Bottom line is that they are all fanatics, and tonight (on the Canadian west coast) I have the pleasure of interacting them once again. Hey, it's time to start.
