Hallo.

Just watched a video of sudirman cup and many questions arouse. How many shuttles are used during high level tournament? (Watched Lin Dan match, he changes every 1-2 rallies, and by my humble calculations it would take 2-3 dozen feathers to play a match) Who provides the practicing feathers? How are the practicing court times shared? Who provides the stringing, tournament or players assistants? Is it free of charge? Do the players get any souveniers for participating?
Can players get anything else free? Overgrips etc.

Many questions, I know. Maybe somebody else has more of those questions? :)

Thanks

do players or teams need to pay tournament fee for entering every each tournament?
the tournament's cost is covered by sponsorship, advertisements etc...
check out the advertisement banners around the court or stadium. they need to pay rental for their advertisements......:D

i think there's a big stringing machine at the tourny venue to help all players string their rackets

I'm sure there are one or two warmup courts behind the curtains while the tournament is going on.

from the Dutch Open (2 star tourny, but top badminton none the less, with former winners like Peter Gade, Muhd, Hafiz, Dicky palyama)

shuttle use goes up to 16+ in matches ( less at the start of the tourny, but still quite a lot)
But all the shuttles are kept and used for warming up, or resold to local clubs (our warm-up shuttles and some practise shuttles were mostly from the Dutch Open, Dutch open junior and dutch nationals) because most are all in 80-90% condition...

At the Maaspoort, were the DO is held, there were 3 warm-up courts in a seperate hall, most tournaments have them...on the first days players soemtimes have to share a corut with 4-8 players...

at most tournaments there is a yonex stringing team, providing free stringing for all yonex sponsored players (and charging $10-15 for non-sponsored players) A lot fo sponsored players just drop their entire collection on the first day, even if they get knocked out immediatly...

so shuttles, stringing, a place to stay, transport from the hall to the hotel, something to drink for every match, that covers it I think...
