Can someone tell me is MAS winning because of their speed game or attack game or all-round game?
The normal gamestyle wich bring them glory in the past... Fast.. Furious..
Accurate smashes... solid defenses!

It matters a lot because if they don't have their "A" game together, they'll never beat Fu/Cai. This is a good test for them to try out stuff they have been practicing and do some fine tuning. Also will boost their confidence that their game is back.

Hard to say. Remember KKK/TBH used to "toy" CY/FHF and JE/MLH at the 2nd set during Sweden SS by practicing defence and eventually lost the set, and then they suddenly finished off the 3rd set in no time?

KKK/TBH cannot afford to win like that. Against a better pair, they would have lost the 2nd game a long time ago and who knows how that'd affect them in the 3rd. Still a lot of tightening up to do. Anyway, they did win which puts them back on the saddle.

I posted a speculation earlier and someone else echoed my view but most of you guys might have overlooked it. Like what happened during Sweden SS when they played against CY/FHF and JE/MLH, they took 1st set, played defensive game in 2nd set as a practice (i.e., they turned the set to their practice game and treated their opponents as their spars) and eventually lost the set, and then they sealed up the rubber in no time. It looks like they are doing the same again.

Yes but it's a little risky. Sooner or later it's going to backfire. Best to take a professional approach to winning a match.

you are right, second set could well be their practice to find out how to tacker the opponents offense as well as to train their defense. in this case, the next time they play the same opponents again, they know how to handle the situation.
just my personal point of view

not the sort of thing that we would like to see in WC
We discussed this "strategy" on this forum before. Apparently, they didn't do that during All England because it's the most prestiguous SS which they hope to win. For Sweden SS, they could relax a bit and even if it was backfired, they had been through valuable practise sessions which would benefit them in long term. PO is not even a SS, so once they've confirmed to regain their World No.2 status, they could risk missing the title by "resuming" their "practice" in the tournament (especially a good chance to practice their mentality in crawling back from a huge gap). Of course they won't do that during WC.

I wouldn't say it really tested out their mental strength..it's more to that they were lucky enough to get away with some sloppy team work. A few times in the end they fumble through and barely get the shuttle over. If it was a better pair.. It would've been a decider match.. and well 3rd match.. we won't know :o
Still, credits to them and someone mention earlier they really need to buckle up a bit more in preparation to meet the top pairs at WC.

Another thing i feel happy with KKK/TBH win is this time they win without Rexy guidence. They should exposed moew to this kind of situation because they over depending on their coach in their previous game. They will turn behind and look at rexy whenever they face problems. This is very good to let them learn how to become independent and try to solve the problem themselves.

Just computed the new world rankings of MS and MD on this coming Thursday. Should be,
MS
1(-) LD
2(-) CH
3(-) LCW
4(+1) BCL
5(-1) CJ
6(-) PG
7(-) CY
8(-) KJ
9(+1) Boonsak
10(-1) TH
11(-) Sony
12(-) Shoji
.........
no matter how, LCW will be seeded 2nd for the coming WC for sure since CH is no longer in National team and he is not allowed to participate in the world championship unless LYB gives him the golden key. am i right to say that?

I wouldn't say it really tested out their mental strength..it's more to that they were lucky enough to get away with some sloppy team work. A few times in the end they fumble through and barely get the shuttle over. If it was a better pair.. It would've been a decider match.. and well 3rd match.. we won't know :o
Still, credits to them and someone mention earlier they really need to buckle up a bit more in preparation to meet the top pairs at WC.
I made this speculation because they have apparently done so during Swiss SS in last March (sorry, not Sweden SS as I mentioned before). They did so in 2consecutive matches - beat CY/FHF in qf, then CW/TG in sf (CW/TG's form was better than now). In particular, the sf match's scoreline looks very convincing as an evidence of our speculation - 23-21, 13-21, 21-7. The qf match's scoreline was 21-16, 11-21, 21-13. Those who have watched the 3 matches could still remember that KKK/TBH played 100% defensively in set 2's and then 100% aggressively in set 3's. When they played defensively in those 2nd sets, the way they played looked very similar to what you have described their 2nd set today.

I could see that KKK/TBH communicating and supporting each other during the match.... touching partner's shoulder offering encouragement, etc.....all these were missing in their last few tournaments. Bravo, KKK/TBH :).

Finally, a long-awaited first title of the year for Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir, their last title being the Invitational World Cup last Oct. Hopefully, this improves their confidence. They will be the second seed at the WC next month and will avoid Zheng Bo/Gao Ling at least until the Final. They will meet either Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen or Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms in the Semi-Final.
Meanwhile, Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa will be among the top 8 seeds. Hopefully, they are kept apart from Nova/Butet.

Lee Chong Wei is in supreme form at the moment, winning the Indonesia and Philippines Open. I think only a top form Lin Dan will be able to beat him at the WC this year. But then again, home advantage could work against Lee

No title for CHN this time. Of course, CHN only brought 'minor' team to Manila. I'm really surprise if CHN still won here. Congratz for all winners! Big day for Malaysian fans, 2 titles in one event -- first time in this year! Finally, Nova/Lilyana booked glorius for INA, hopefully they will shine in KL.
But the real battle should be next month...

I don't see CHN dominating now or the future..CHN may win titles but in the run up to the finals in SS , has it been boring all the way? There's been so many upsets no one can be sure who's gonna win.Do an objective trend analysis and you'll understand why LYB has to be the dominant coach in SS and why he cannot relax anymore. Try to live in the present instead of getting cobwebbed in the past.
If we look at this issue at different perspective say Malaysia is the one who dominates the Badminton sports, do you think Malaysia will back off and let other countries to win given that badminton is the only sports Malaysia can win gold in Olympic? Most probably not!
The good news is even China has been dominating but other countries also are catching up except Team Denmark without capable new comers.

It is tough day for CHN, even some players are 2nd team, reaching to finals were good but they could not collect the titles at the end...LYB has always demanded his team to win...I see that WD and MS is the most disappointing one for LYB.

Come to think of it, without Lin Dan, China most probably will not win the MS event in major tournaments. WS also becomes interesting as China still rely on veteran Zhang Ning and oversea Chinese women singles are getting stronger including Zhou Mi playing for Hong Kong.
Overall, I think China still is very dominating but I don't think we will see that many all-Chinese affair either in SF and Final on all events in near future.

Yes...they are here for Gift show in convention to promote Malaysian tourism..so in the party, they danced and played music..I was born in Indonesia side like 8 hrs by bus to Kucing.....I cooked and bartender for my special drinks....:D:D Kamquat martini, etc...

Why should MAS give up? As u said Badminton is the only sports who capable of bringing a solitary gold for them in Olympics .. while CHN even among the top 3 countries in overall gold medals tally for OG... They simply afford to lost all the 5 gold in Badminton compare v other countries !

Let's also give credit to LCW and KKK/TBH's opponents:
We know CH's circumstances and how challenging it must have beein for him to play outside the "system" after being sheltered by the Chinese Team all his life. More importantly is the character and sportsmanship he displayed after losing to a superior opponent.
Let's also remember that the partnership of Guo Zhendong and Xie Zhongbo overcame huge obstacles on their way to the finals by beating higher ranked pairs beginning with Tony and Candra followed by Luluk and Alvent on their way to the finals. I was lucky to have been able to watch most of the MD games last week and although I was rooting for their opponents, I was impressed with the effort and sportsmanship showed by the Chinese pair.

Agree. Both CH and CHN MD are credible and worthy opponents. It also means LCW and MAS MD are in good shape for the upcoming WBC.
Although CH has gone independent, he's still formidable in the first of a string of consecutive tournaments. He remains a good bet.
It's good to know that CHN now has a dangerous second MD capable of creating upsets.
