Hmmm, ive done a bit of reading/research and many people say the durability of the At700 is quite"fragile". Im just curious to know how fragile is it? Example: Would it break if i hit a bad shot off a bird, or a little clash against a partners racket. Any help regarding the At700's durability is greatly appreciated. Thanks =]

3U and 4U have different durabilities, due to the different weights. The 3U is more durable than the 4U. Not sure how fragile it is though, but hopefully mine won't break for a looong time.

How long have you had it for?

I don't think any racket should break off of a hard frame shot, but I dunno, it's never happened to me? what about you guys?

I have AT700 3UG4, it's been only for 3 months. I miss hit couple of birds on the frame, 2 clashed (one clash no paint chip, the other clash result in paint chip). BTW the racket is still in one piece now, I think it is quite durable enough.
Just want to share, I was shocked looking at my friend AT700, the paint chip is almost everywhere on the frame, but again he still can use the racket.
I think, soft or midd-hard clash will effect only paint chips, strong clash may broke the frame.

I think that's how it is with all rackets: Minor-moderate hard clash= paint chips and maybe very small cracks. Hard clashes= huge cracks and broken racket.

Well i just heard that some people broke their at700's from hitting the bird when they were trying to go for a smash...But id understand clashes =]

3U or 4U...? i think you need to be specific but i am leaning towards 4U though since 3U at700s are pretty durable.

4U's are very very durable :D mine has lasted more than 2 years now with numerous mishits/clashes.

i guess, durablity much depends on the luck....:D
1. string at high tension 26-30lbs?
2. string at recommended tension?
3. clash at which part/point?
4. how hard the clash? angle of clash?
5. mis-hits? hard? angle?
6. hm... type of strings use?

Well i guess thats technically right. But i mean some rackets do break a little easier than others...=/

haha thats pretty sweet. My friend broke his in a cpouple months. Btw, how stiff is the At700? It says its extra stiff but people rate it as stiff...so is it as stiff as the at900T?

My new AT700 is stiffer than an old Mp99... it's actually pretty stiff until the shaft gets softer after use.

Do you happen to know how much softer it would get?(compared to at900t, but im assuming you've tried a friend's at700 before =])

I'm not that sure. I only tried a friends AT700 once, and I didn't really try to bend it with my hands to test the flex because he was standing right behind me...

You my friend, are absolutely right. I forgot to mention that they were moderate clashes, I didn't smash into another racquet, so that may be another consideration. and it is strung at 24lbs with BG80, so moderate tension as well. I'm very very aware of myself and my partners on court, so I avoid the clashes as much as possible, but I was just giving my 2 cents blindly. The AT700 is stiff, not extra stiff in my opinion.
