Hi,

I am new to Melbourne. I need my racket restrung. I have no car, work in the CBD and play at Albert Park/MSAC. Can anyone recommend anywhere/anyone?

I live in the CBD as well. I am not sure of any stringers in CBD which does not charge an arm or leg. I string mine at a home stringer in Vermont South, quality not so good but the price is ok. Too far for you without a car. If you find any which charge a reasonable price let me know :).

The most convenient place for you probably will be Xin Sports in Box Hill Central and then grab some food and shopping while you wait. You can catch a train there but their string job is ok ok only. They have their off days most of the time but once in a while they may do it properly. I stopped going to Xin because I can save a few more dollars at Vermont for the same quality job :) It is all about price and quality :P.

I know a home stringer from Glen Waverley who works in the city, quite a few of my friends string with him but he is not the cheapest but I heard that his machine is a good one. He charges the same as Xin Sports. PM me and I will get his details for you.

Ermmm... moral of the story ...good luck. Don't string in MSAC or Rebel etc. A scary thought for you, I was walking in Rebel for my lunch break and I saw a kid (when i say kid, I mean about 10 years old) teaching two adults how to string a tennis racquet. All of them were wearing the Rebel sports staff uniform :eek::eek: A kid teaching 2 adults and then they charge people so much money to re-string their racquets. I've got nothing against the kid but it is the thought of the two adults stringing your racquet that is scary ahhaha.
