I know...I am surprised that when I heard that Pia would participate in Milo as PIA withdrew from Asian Junior Championship.....due to her age....:mad:

What's the age limit in this tournament? Are there age brackets? Like under 13? under 15? etc?

Seeded BS:
1. Mohd Arif Abdul Latif [MAS] vs. Paultry Yustiam [INA]
5/8. Ashton Cheng Yongzhao [SIN] vs. qualifier #6
3/4. Lim Fang Yang [MAS] vs. Christian Ryan [INA]
5/8. Bui Bang Duc [VIE] vs. Prasetyo Yogi [INA]
5/8. Huang Chao [SIN] vs. M. Nur Rofi'l [INA]
3/4. Vountus Indra Mawan [MAS] vs. Jeffrey Wong Hao Cong [SIN]
5/8. Kuang Kam Chung [MAS] vs. some INA guy, not clear
2. Wong Wing Ki [HKG] vs. Thng Seong Boon [SIN]
The top INA Juniors were dismissed either by their own club or by PBSI due to age-cheating... The top 2 Under-19 earlier this year were Bandar Sigit Pamungkas and Nugroho Andi Saputro... but they were pressured to tell the truth by their own club, PB. Djarum. Thus they were not allowed to participate in Under-19 tournaments anymore. So no seeded INA boys in this tournament... :p
The most notable 'real' Under-19 [after passing the PBSI forensic tests] are Arif Saputro Nandang that could meet Lim Fang Yang [MAS] in the round of 32. ;) ...and Aditya Febrian Arifin that will face Ho Khek Mong [MAS] in the first round [Round 64] and might meet the 2nd seed from HKG in the Round of 16...

Why those INA players want to cheat??? haiya...
Oh, I can explain this... and I hope some PBSI officials in charge read this too. The reasons so many cheat are because:
Pelatnas PBSI for a number of years [starting in the mid-to-late 1990s] only recruit Under 19 players into the National Team. It is virtually impossible for anyone over 20 to enter the National Team for the first time. This practice gives almost no chance for late-bloomers who have not entered the National Team. The last person I know who got recruited into our National Team when he was over 20 was Joko Suprianto. Thus.... boys and girls have to be seen performing highly when they are below 19 [Taruna] a.k.a. Juniors.
It is quite easy for parents to make false birth certificate in Indonesia. Especially in remote rural areas. You can start to have your birth certificate maybe 3-to-4-to-5 years after you're born... :p
Even though the forensic techniques are there to check age, PBSI never use them until the last 2 years. There are more than one forensic techiques . In general, they are not good at diagnosing someone's age after they are 19. But they are more accurate in determining the age of younger kids. Just like it is hard for us to differentiate who is 24 and who is 26 by looking at them, but easier to guess who is 6 years old and who is 8 years old.
In the past, there are no heavy consequences if you are caught. Those who were caught cheating can go on competing in the lower age category. Even those in the National Team who later on admit they cheated got no clear punishment.
The parents don't feel ashamed doing this because they said everyone else is doing it, if I don't do it for my kid, he/she will never ever go to the INA National Team. They claim they are doing it out of love and fairness ["since the authorities are not leveling the playing field fairly, we shall level the playing field using our own method!"]... :pSo... as you see, [B]the fraud triangle is complete...:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Motivation: reason 1
Opportunity: reason 2, 3, and 4
Self-rationalization: reason 5

Well, you know... if you live in a small remote hut around XYZ mountain surrounded by rain forests all over the horizon in island ABC [one of the 17,000 islands of Indonesia]... you are very far from civilization as we know it. There is no viable mechanism to record your birthdate. :o The INA government allow these citizents to report their children's birth way way way after their actual birth...
Many of the INA villagers when they actually register their child's birth would say something like this: "My child was born 3 days after the Mount Merapi rumble... forgot which year..." or "It was the 2nd day of that heavy rain period which lasted for 4 days... a few years ago"
There are 6 billion humans alive today... maybe 1 billion live in a very civilized setting, the other 5 billion less so... :o Let's not expect everyone on this planet to have a Calendar next to their bedside... :p :p :p

Seeds cruise at badminton event
Yuli Tri Suwarni, The Jakarta Post, Bandung
Seeded players cruised into the next round at the 2007 Milo Junior Indonesia Open badminton championships here on Wednesday. The top seed in the boys' singles, Mohd. Arif Abdul Latif of Malaysia, led the pack with a convincing 21-13, 21-6 victory over Pualtry Yustiam of Indonesia.
Of the eight top seeds in the boys' singles, only eighth seeded Chao Huang of Singapore lost, falling to Indonesian Nur Rofi. In the girls' singles, top seed Maria Febe Kusumastuti of Indonesia, ranked 96th in the world and a member of the Djarum Kudus club, beat compatriot Yuliana Delis 21-10, 21-12.
Indonesia's Ana Rovita, also from Djarum Kudus, put up a tough fight, but it wasn't enough to stop her losing to third seed Vivian Kah Mun Hoo of Malaysia 11-21, 21-17, 21-19. Claudia Wijaya of Indonesia upset fifth seed Yi Xin Foong of Malaysia, while Malaysian eighth seed Currier Tiffany defeated Indonesia's Ayu Wanda Tika Wulandari.
Herman Subarjah, head of competition at the event, said Indonesian players had displayed their toughness. "It's interesting to see all the Indonesian players who have managed to eliminate foreign players who are seeded here. It shows our players have talent but they lack opportunities to compete at the international level.
"Looking at their performance here, they are at the same skill level as their opponents," said Herman, who is also an official at the West Java chapter of the Badminton Association of Indonesia. "Since many of them rarely compete in international competitions, it's no wonder they don't have rankings," he said.
The week-long tournament has in the past served as a stepping-stone for rising young shuttlers. Among past winners are national players like men's singles Sony Dwi Kuncoro and Simon Santoso, and women's singles Adriyanti Firdasari.

Yes Cisita was defeated by Vivi... We all sort of expected this. Vivi was good enough to represent INA in last week's Asian Junior. Cisita was not yet that highly ranked and experienced...
Febby Angguni is from Bandung where this Milo Juniors is being held. She grew up there, probably still has tons of friends... They will all cheer for her... :)

19 RI shuttlers roll on at Milo
Yuli Tri Suwarni, The Jakarta Post
Indonesia's shuttlers played well at the 2007 Milo Junior Indonesia Open badminton championship here, with 19 moving to the next round of the tourney on Thursday. Ten Indonesians will compete in the boys' singles on Friday. The unfancied Arif Saputro and Andre Marteen Tene stunned their seeded opponents in Thursday's clashes.
Arif beat third seed Fang Yang Lim of Malaysia, 21-14, 21-14, while Andre defeated fifth seed Bang Duc Bui of Vietnam, 14-21, 21-12, 21-18. Along with other Indonesians competing in the best 16 in Friday are five seeded players: Mohammad Arief Abdul Latief, Vountus Indra and Kam Chung Kuan of Malaysia, Yongzhao Ashton of Singapore and Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong.
Top seed Mohammad Arif Abdul Latief beat host player Seto Danu Kusuma, 21-10, 21-17. The Malaysian will take on another Indonesian, Ari Trisnanto, in Friday's match.
In the girls singles, nine Indonesians will play in the top 16. Top seed Maria Febe Kusumastuti eased off her compatriot Linda Weni, 21-15, 21-16. National team member Febby Angguni also saw off fellow Noor Alvinasih, 21-14, 21-13. Malaysia booked three slots in the round with seeded players Vivian Kah Mun, Currier Tiffany and Jing Yi Tee.

Which ones? If this practice is not strictly stopped, then INA will keep on producing age-cheaters who look good when they're 17 [but actually he/she is 20] and then the real talented pure 17 year old will never go to our National Team...

He would be played XD in AJBC 2007 but cancelled then.
You wrote PBSI disqualified several INA players due to evidence in the forensic test in post#51 AJBC thread.
I see PBSI didn't send some double players who have high rank. I guess because of age limit instead of "no money" reason.
PBSI shoud hold forensic test again for "new" player next INA's WJBC squad.
The age test is easier in U-16 category. I see a lot of U-16 players looked much older than their age but more difficult to watched in U-19.

Mohd Arif Masih Terlalu Tangguh
Wartawan : LSD
(LSD)

He would be played XD in AJBC 2007 but cancelled then.
You wrote PBSI disqualified several INA players due to evidence in the forensic test in post#51 AJBC thread.
I see PBSI didn't send some double players who have high rank. I guess because of age limit instead of "no money" reason.
PBSI shoud hold forensic test again for "new" player next INA's WJBC squad.
The age test is easier in U-16 category. I see a lot of U-16 players looked much older than their age but more difficult to watched in U-19.
Aha... Andhika Anhar... Lippo-club guy...

I suppose you were referring to Richi or Vicky or Fernando or Subakti? Yes, Edo-Bakti are over 19. Can't play. Richi is under 19... well, I guess no partner for her... Vicky? I think also too old [not sure]...

BS Semifinal lineup [from my unreliable friend who has questionable fragmanted memory, so don't sue me if this data is wrong, ha ha ha] :p
Arif Saputro Nandang [Tangkas] vs. 1 Mohd Arif Abdul Latif [MAS]
Rofi'l [Jaya Raya] vs. Senatria [SGS]
GS Semifinal lineup [from my other friend who is way more reliable] ;)
1 Maria Febe [Djarum] vs. 3/4 Vivian Hoo Kah Mun [MAS]
5/8 Febby Angguni [Djarum-Pelatnas] vs. Alfa Vivianita [Djarum]
So, hau-ge, I guess you're right, Febby did beat Tee Jing Yi [MAS] and Vivi defeated Sannatasah Saniru [MAS]. :) My prediction for the GS finalist is in bold. I won't make any prediction on the BS because I'm not even sure the data is correct. Ha ha ha...
Oh well, we all have many friends who are great nice people, but not necessarily great badminton statistician & record-keepers... :p
Thats correct..Kompas just reelased the article..basically there are 6 INA boys and Girls are in semifinal...Senatria beat Votus Indrawan...and Febby beat Tee in 3 sets ( no scores reported in this match)

I didn't think them and they didn't play in here.
I mean the high rank double player is in XD, PBSI didn't choose them in INA's AJBC squad.

Indonesia, Malaysia in semis
Yuli Tri Suwarni , The Jakarta Post, Bandung, West Java
Shuttlers from host Indonesia and neighboring country Malaysia will compete to secure places in the finals of the 2007 Milo Junior Indonesia Open in Saturday's semifinals matches.
Indonesia booked three semifinal tickets in the boys' singles when its shuttlers Arif Saputro, Nur Rofii and Senatria beat their opponents in the quarterfinals Friday. The remaining ticket went to top seed Mohammad Arif Abdul Latif of Malaysia.
"We predict the final rounds will be dominated by Indonesian and Malaysian shuttlers as both teams have fielded their top players," said Herman, chairman of the event.
Nur Rofii upset third seed Vountus Indra Mawan of Malaysia to ensure his semifinal berth, while Senatria dashed the sole hope of Hong Kong, Wing Ki Wong, ranked 2, in their quarterfinal battle Friday. Arif Abdul Latif beat Singapore's Yongzhao Ashton Chen to cruise to the semifinals.
In the girls' singles, Vivianita Alfa of Indonesia stunned second seed Sannatasah Saniru of Malaysia, 21-7, 14-21, 21-11, to secure her finals place. Seeded teammates Maria Febe Kusumastuti and Febby Angguni will join Vivianita in Saturday's semifinals.
Malaysia still holds hope of winning a title after Vivian Kah Mun Hoo eased off Indonesia's Anneke Fenya 21-11, 21-16. Malaysia has shown its domination in the mixed doubles with three pairs in the semifinals round, leaving only one slot to Indonesian pair Della Rizky and Jessica Dewi in the title quest.

RI wins girls' singles, Malaysia takes rest
Malaysia emerged as the best team at the 2007 Milo Junior Indonesia Open badminton championships after nearly making a clean sweep in Sunday's final matches, leaving just one title to host Indonesia.
The seventh annual tournament, offering US$11,000 in prize money, was participated in by around 400 shuttlers from 10 countries. Malaysia's boys singles top seed Mohd. Arif Abdul Latif was too powerful for SGS Bandung shuttler Senatria, winning 21-14, 21-12.
The neighboring country set up all-Malaysian finals in the doubles sectors, grabbing all the three titles. Top seeds mixed doubles Khim Wah Lim and Hui Lin NG defeated Wei Shem Goh and Sannatasah Saniru 21-16, 21-13. In the boys doubles, Chun Hee Mak and Wah Khim Lim ousted Jian Guo Ong and Weis Shem Goh 21-14, 21-13. Girls doubles Hui Lin NG and Liu Ying Goh won over Vivian Kah Mun Hoo and Jing Yi Tee 21-12, 21-8.
The absence of Asian powerhouses China and South Korea was an advantage for Malaysia. "I could read his playing," Arif commented on his final match, adding that the absence of the Chinese and Koreans shuttlers had reduced the competitiveness of the event.
Malaysian coach Mohd. Saleh agreed. "The presence of the Chinese and Koreans players would bring different results here." "However, our young players have learned a lot of lessons here especially with the good results."
Despite the absence, team manager How Kim Tho praised Arif's victory and expressed his optimism on the bright future of the young player.
Indonesia grabbed the remaining title in the girls singles with the sole national training camp player Febby Angguni upsetting top seed Maria Febe Kusumastuti 21-15, 18-21, 27-25. -- JP

Liem Swie King too... he won the Adult National Championship when he was 17. Got an Asian Games Bronze when he was 18 [in 1974], then he reached the All England Final when he was 20 [in 1976]... Later on, he won All England in 1978, 1979, and 1981.
Ardy Wiranata... reached the 1989 World Championship final when he was 19... Lost to Yang Yang. But a valiant and promising effort! Later on, in 1991 he won the All England MS. Got Olympic silver in 1992, won Indonesia Open 6 times.... [a record that was equaled only by Taufik last year].
Note: it has been around 10 years since Taufik reached the All England MS final at 17 years old. He has not won it yet... unfortunately... He won everything else, though... Lin Dan just need to win the Olympic title to complete his throphy room...

Not really, Lin Dan needs an Olympic title (next year) AND another Asian Games individual gold (in 2010, Guangzhou) to complete his title collection.

I don't think his height is a disadvantage for Arif. His tactical skills are good and have you seen him play against Chen Long? Chen Long is like his name....very tall and long.Arif has beaten him before and lost narrowly in the individual event.
