me and my first time partner lost last night
at 10 pm...ahh!! mens doubles..
20-22 25-23 10-11(first to 11 wins)
:crying::(:crying:
anyways.. it was an up and down battle,
we were NEVER +3 up or -3 down, it was really very close...
first set, i was just smashing the cock to the other side,
not much defence..and we went up 20-18 holding 2 setpoints
ONLY to lose 4 points in a row..20-22..grr!!..
2nd set, i lost hope when we went down 15-18
only to get it back at 18 all..
then 18-19, 19-19, 19-20 mp down,
20-20, 21-20 set point, woohoo..
21-21, 21-22, 22-22-, 22-23...
then me receiving..high serve.. and i was
amazed at myself for jumping high and smashing it CC..
23-23...then 2 fast serve for my opponents to make a mistake..
25-23.. the thing i remembered most about this set
is when i was kneeling on the floor
returning 2 shots;) and saving 3 MATCHPOINTS:eek:
3rd set
we started ok. 2-0 then was down 2-4
then 5-4, then 5-7..
then 7-7, 7-8, 8-8, 8-9,9-9
i felt the tension amongst the
other players, cuz, the shots are more of a
safe shot rather than risky shots...
then 9-10..grrr. another mp..
10-10.. another MP SAVED and it was my turn to serve..
damn.. i was really pumped up, saying 'COME-ON"
and it was our first MP...
i didnt take my time, hit a high serve
and IT WENT OUT ON THE OTHER COURT by 5 inches...
i was shock... i would have been a bit
happier had it gone LONG, but to the other court.!!
ahh..!!
then the umpire said to me..
"It was a Great Match with a useless ending"...
and the others said, that i should have just kept the
ball in...
at first, i didnt let it affect me, cuz i have learned how to accept losses..
but, the way they commented about the end of the match
just hurts, or just say.."nice match" would have been nice...
in the end.. i ended up having a teary eye..:(
me, my first time 2 cry over a match...
how about you guys??
wanna share some??

it doesn't sound like a horrible lost. the way you put it, it sounded like a great game that i would have liked to watched myself.

if you mean close games, then the closest loss i had was 28-26, 19-21, 19-21
but the worse would've been a snapped racquet, and 19-21-19-21 loss.

Well worst I think was when I was playing for my cities team at U18s tournament and one more loss would mean we lose the tie, and we had like my game (a mixed doubles) and one other left. And we lost 22-20, 26-24 :( :( :(. I felt so bad!!!

i played 1 guy just for kinda fun, just 1 game and he whipped me 21 - 7. I couldn't believe it. I just didn't think he would have beat me by so much. The good news is, i have greatly improved and the next time i play him which hopefully will be in the year sum time prob round xmas, i will win, i'm sure hahahahahaha

I once played a short coach, not my coach...i dont have a coach..
and he beat me something like
21-12 21-9( only single digit in the 2nd set)
and he told me to improve my
footwork and grips on ym forehand and backhand
cause i use to play tennis..
and its really weird hitting action..
and a few months later i beat him in 3 sets...
21-17 i was already tired...i was shock:eek:
that i took a set from him..
14-21..too tired, i was about to quit..
and he quickly said 'decision'
and i sed..'no,no.. water break first'
haha...
i took my time, actually 5 mins...
and i felt refresh after that, like brand new..
and i beat him 21-18...
..i noticed how my reflexes got faster..
wouldnt have noticed it if we hadnt played..
and good luck on your next meeting..
hahaha.!! ehehe:D

All losses are bad. It's pretty tough to pick a worst one (there's so many), but for me, it would have to be about 12 years ago when I lost in an Interprovicial Division 1 match match to someone that I had played many, many times against in practice. I had beaten him every time we played that year (more than 10 times), and yet in the only game that mattered, I lost. In fact, our team lost by 1 match that day, and as a result, we were relegated to a lower division for the following year. I was feeling fairly sorry for myself.
The fact that I even remember this after all these years shows how the pain of losing is much stronger than the joy of winning. While I was trawling through some of my old stuff, I found a certificate where myself and the aforementioned player had won an Open tournament playing doubles together at about the same time. I can't even remember having played in that tournament, let alone winning. Winning tournaments isn't something I've done a lot of (except for lower graded ones when I was first learning), and I still have no recollection of the event.

Ouch being put down a division... that's worse than mine :(. I always try to remind myself that I wasn't the only one that lost and it takes a team to lose a tie... But it's still hard not to feel bad and responsible (at least partially) for it. Especially (like you said) when it's a person you probably should have beaten any other day.

Being relegated is definitely no fun.
We have a player in our Interprovincial Division team that mentioned that they had never been to a relegation play off before. So of course, I said "stick with us and you will soon enough". I'm not sure if she realised I was only half joking....

ofsaa this year, me and my doubles partner were seeded 3rd and our first round match was against this good team from...i dont even know...but we lost the first, won the second and lost 15-13 in the third (they eventually came second)...but the thing that was most annoying was that the team we beat at ofsaa came third!
thats my worst lose...

14-15. It was too close for me to learn anything from it. They just barely scored the last point.

15-0 Men's Singles using old system - opponent is a veteran in the A Team and to add salt to wound, he commented at the end of the game that it was a footwork game for him, targetting my poorer and slower footwork making me run for shots.

If talking about close games, my partner and I had a really really good men's doubles game, where the score ended up 22-20, 30-29. It was absolutely crazy close but we won both. :D

Worst game? I got bageled was about 8 years ago at the Kelowna Open playing Phil Allard.
Sitting for seven hours on the drive out was my first problem, then I played like a chump.

Worst game was during the team event against Singapore Sports School.
It was held in Tampines Sports Hall.
Our first singles took the first point, first doubles lost by a close margin, second singles also lost by a close margin.
I played second doubles and due to my habit of warming up to training state (i usually perform at my best when i am at that state), i lost because Tampines Sports Hall was unbearably hot/warm, and because we knew our third singles would win, the load is on me and my mind was thinking about "WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN AND GO NATIONALS TOP 2, OR EVEN CHAMPION", instead of focusing on the game.
And we lost 2-3 eventually although me and my partner knew we could have won. It was super disappointing.
