Hi there i'm buying a new racket (bored of the Carbonex 21 i've had for so many years) and was wondering which one was better. In the U.K. the 3 rackets are all around the same price so that won't be an issue but i don't know which to buy out of the Armortec 900 Power/Technique or the Nanospeed 9000 Type X.
I often do smashes and clears and very rarely will do drop shots. Mainly do Singles if that makes any difference.
If anyone can suggest one for me that would be great. Thanks in advance :D

Probably the armotec 900 power if you rarely do dropshots... but if you play singles how do you not play dropshots!?

I rarely do them basically i'm an all out smash at you player works half the time i try smash placements. I do do dropshots but hate doing them.

Demo/try the racquet before you buy. AT900 and NS9K are very different racquets. If you are used to Cab21, I will suggest you to try NS9000-s also.

Great thanks for the advice, unfortunaetly it seems as though only the Nanspeed 9000 Type X is out here.

For some reason UK is not brining in S. You will probably have to find someone who imported one in and borrow theirs for a test run.

Seems weird that S isnt brought out here but yet again U.K. doesnt focus too much on Badminton. They only ever show badminton if theres a mixed doubles match (With the most bias commentary!)

Mostly, you can blame the GM of Yonex UK because it is up to them what to decide what to bring or sell in the country.

If you're an attacker..Power for sure then. The NS9K has some good power too but the AT900P looks hot! lmao!!

Yeah the Power looks great thats the main reason i'd rather have it.

Having played with both, I'd definitely say the 900P is the better singles racket simply because the head weight. The 9000X is extremely powerful, but it only comes in 3U as far as I know (my 900P is a 4U, but they also come in 3U) and, with its more even balance, felt too heavy for me.

You can string a 900P up quite high and still retain power thanks to the shaft stiffness and head weight, which makes drops more accurate. It's also the second best looking racket Yonex makes:D.

Normally my dad buys me my rackets and this may sound stupid as hell but what does the 3U and 4U mean??
Yeah the AT 900 P looks great.

3U and 4U are weight classes, 4U is lighter and 3U is heavier. I think you should steer away from these expensive racquets until you know your preference, head-light or head-heavy.

what does the 3U and 4U mean??

It refers to weight range.

2U = 90-94 grams
3U = 85-89 grams
4U = 80-84 grams

Hi,

I am also using Cab 21 for a long time now. It has many paint chips but I repainted it.

Switched to NS 9000 X this year. Cab 21 is not that light but considering its age it's still good. I always smash with this racquet like I want to break it since I'm replacing it with NS 9000X. I feel that cab 21 has a smaller sweetspot but if you hit it right, it really hits hard.

NS 9000x is more forgiving, and really fast for drives and drops, but to hit it really hard, u need to get the swing and wrist snap timing right, but for smashing it is really good (I used BG66 24lbs tension). The only problem I have with this racquet, is you don't want to swing/hit all out to get the fastest racquet speed possible in doubles coz I don't want to damaged it, therefore negating its hard hitting virtues. But for singles, boy this racquet pumps serious smash/lob bombs.

For AT 900P or T, haven't tried it. But it seems to be lighter than NS 9000 X after I examined it. Strange thing, I notice that the handle for AT 900 T is slightly longer than AT 900P even though both are G4. When my CAB 21 finally breaks, I might get the AT 900 Power.

Cheers

The Cab 21 is kind of head heavy and box shaped. So I would say de AT900P should be more suitable.

Bravo! I don't want to teach granny to suck eggs, but make sure you get a UK coded one. I was recently torched by a counterfeit SP code, which I've just had to send back for refund. If you pay less than about £110, make sure it's the real deal.

You'll find it's incredibly powerful with the off-the-shelf BG65Ti at god-knows-how-little tension, but your net shots might be a bit too inclined to fly away on you. Use the shop strings for about 6 weeks to get used to the racket, then crank up to BG80/85 at a decent pull.

Mark,

Not necessary a UK coded one. As long as it is purchased from a Yonex authorized dealer, you are fine. Personally I would not recommend a UK coded racket because of the lack of grip size variety and carry uncommon weight versions of rackets.

True, it's tough to find different weights of rackets over here (I can't find a 3U 900P for the life of me). I suggested a UK code merely because forgeries of these appear in the UK more rarely than those of far eastern codes. There's no official opinion from Yonex as to the difference in quality between country codes anyway, so as long as it's from a dealer, you should be fine.
