Hey guys,

I just just recently started playing badminton and I think I need a better racket. When I play my friend, he serves really high and long and I try to clear it. The problem is that I can only generate enough power to hit it to the middle of his field. He just drops it next to the net and im dead. I used to play competitive table tennis so my skills are kinda slow because the rackets head heavy. Thinking of getting a racket which is head light with low tension strings. My budget is about up to $80US ($100AUS). I would prefer to buy the racket in australia sydney.

Thnks for all replies:)

Can you tell us what made and model of racquet you are using? It might be technique or string tension problem, not a racquet problem.

Hi Mate go get yourself an average racquet and use Yonex BG66 sting and string it up to 24ibs, the reason of choosing BG66 is because is a thinner string 0.66mm and 22-24ibs is usually for beginner because the shuttle could travel further, with 100AUS you can urself a pretty decent racquet if you would ask me. example : Carobonex 21, MP150, APACs, RSL etc.

No such thing as MP150, and with thinner strings, 24lbs is going to seem very tight. 20-22lbs is better.

MP 150 BG66 24ibs too tight? my fren have the same racquet with BG66 but with 26ibs. I Swing a couple of time it seems ok even with 26ibs but the bird cant fly as far as my AT800 BG66 with 24ibs. Or maybe that's juz me.

Yonex makes a lot of raquets, but they're pretty pricey if you're just starting out. I highly recommend the Carlton Powerblade Superlite if you can get your hands on one. It's durable and can take string tensions up to 28lbs. The best part would be that it fits within your budget~! In the local stores here, it's $50 + Tax canadian
