I was thinking about this yesterday - how many of you whom have adopted the NSS, had managed 21 - 0 victories over your opponents (or vice versa) in one or both sets?

Closest my partner and I did was 21 - 3, and we were on fire that night. We led 12 - 0 (or was it 11?) before the other team got a point from our own mistake.

Yesterday, my partner and I were down 9-20 and we came back to win it 25-23. Everyone was on their feet and cheering for us....:D

I got beat 1 time 21 - 8 and my friend played the same chap and got beat 21 - 6 but i have never seen it done yet. You would need to be on fire and your opponent would need to be having the worst game of his life!

I take it then that the professionals have never done this yet in a competition?

We did a come back just over two hours ago, from 8 - 18, 12 straight points at 20 - 18 before winning it 22 - 20.

Playing aggressive pays! :)

I suppose 21 - 0 victories are going to be really rare.

i had a 21-0.. but that doesn't really count.. i fought with a novice... i was about to play with my shots, but he said it would be great if i could give it my all.. so then, i gave it my all..:)

I think it's very difficult to had 21-0 because it's very problable that you make a mistake once in 21 rallies.

I've never seen a 21-0. Best I've seen was 21-2. It was 20-0 and the server purposely served into the net, a nice gesture. Then the opponents earned another point before losing by serving into the net.

Best I've done was 21-4. Was up 10-4 and got 11 points in a row on my serve. I was quite surprised.

Worst loss in the NSS was 21-9 and it felt like a 15-2 drubbing in the OSS. :p

Worst lost we had was 21 - 11 (or 12), never been beaten sub double digits in score.

Not that I enjoy any sort of defeat, mind you!

Largest margin of victory: 21-3
Largest margin of loss: 9-21
Best comeback: Uh...hahah, don't have one yet. Not w/ NSS, anyways. Had one in OSS where I came back from 4-12 to win 17-14.

It all depends on the level of your opponent, doesn't it?
If you're an intermediate player playing against a beginner, it shouldn't be too tough to make no errors at all.

Assume that you're facing opponents of similar level.

well, I did a 21-1 21-5 in the competition...but it wasn't fun if you ask me... The other guy was getting down and desperate...
I did a 15-20 comeback to 25-23 twice so far :o

i did a 21-2 in singles, against a friend who i said i would give him under 5. My best comeback was from 19-12 to win at 19-21. I basically given up at that point but i was like not thinking about the point at all and just play and do what i can, surprisingly i won, suddenly woke up to play full speed when leveled.

In my very humble opinion, if you can beat someone 21-0, you shouldn't be playing against him/her. After all, there is obviously too much of a huge difference between the level of both players.. unless it's a tournament of course. Plus the game would be rather boring, wouldn't it be?

And another thing.. you've really got to be a perfect player if you manage a 21-0 score. Unless you don't really care about how tight your net plays, and how sharp your drop shots are, and also be careful with your lobs, some may go out. Oh, and you don't risk smashing. Again, these kind of low-quality strokes will only win you points against a much lower-standard player.

Wilfred, you said to assume that both players are the same level. Now.. that's really gonna be impossible to win either side 21-0, isn't it? I think a 30-29 victory would be more possible.

After all, we're all human beings. Who's perfect?

Just my 2 cents. :)

not really...even the world number 1 xie xing fang got owned 21-4 by zhang ning in singapore open. that scoreline's havoc enough lol. Can u imagine? a reigning world champion (at that time)

best i did was 21-6 against someone of similar level...worst i did was a similar score( except that i was on the wrong end of the whitewash:p )
i've managed 21-2 or so against kids or beginners....but it's really hard to get 21-0 especially against trained kids, as they could do some tumblers or lucky 'frame-hit' dropshots once in a while

My worst lost was 21-0, so yeah, there's nothing impossible in this world. :p

Nevermind the level difference, the big lost was precious to me because a lot of things were learned from that defeat. :D

Didn't Xie Xing Fang won a set in 21-2 in WC2007?

Best I've done is 21-7.

ive only won 3 15-0 singles, 1 15-0 in mxd
and 1 21-0 in mxd...

it get really scary if you get around 19-0...
cuz some of my shots tighten up. In the beginning i was attacking...
but then as we get closer to 21-0... i play more
smart...way too high clears with spins...

I beat someone of almost the same skill level 21-4 in singles. And the biggest comebacks in singles I've ever made were:

1. Trailing 3-13, I managed to win 21-17
2. trailing 16-20, managed to win 23-21. Yes, sadly, this is my biggest comeback from a game point :p its not like coming back from 10-21, but it's still a comeback!!

it needs one super good player or the other just a complete beginner. it will be close to impossibe when u play with sm1 merely close to ur level. ive seen few 29/30 but non below 3.
