View Full Version : Equip Upgrade: racquet or shoes+new strings?
krisyay 08-19-2007, 09:14 PM Hi, Im new to the forum and I was hoping I could get some opinions on what I should do.
My current situation: I've been playing badminton for a while now and I believe I'm around mid-intermediate. I mostly play doubles and I've noticed for a while how much power I'm lacking. Currently, I'm playing with and Isometric 62 MF with factory strings, and a pair of nike running shoes...
I feel it's about time I upgraded my equipment, but I'm short on money...so I'm either getting a pair of court shoes (to hopefully help me with my footwork) with new strings on my current racquet or a new racquet (I'm thinkin AT300).
opinions of fellow BCers are greatly apprecieted =]

suicide??
playing with running shoe will create more risk of injury, such as twist ankle or maybe slip and fall down....:o
as for mid-inter player, AT300 is a good choice with bg80 or 85 string at 22-24lbs.
as you develop your skills and techniques, then only consider to upgrade equipments.....:D
krisyay 08-20-2007, 02:07 AM thx guys! in that case, i'm wondering what most all-rounder double players use as strings; im thinking BG-70pro because of its allroundedness...I guess im stuck deciding on either BG70pro or BG80...BG80 strung at say 22lb would give me more power to my shots on my isometric 62 rite?

strings preference is much due to indivudual and for you info, i hate those ti strings....:o
1. get a good shoe. check out dinkalot's shoe review. pick the one with good/excellent grip.
2. restring your current racquet. BG66, BG85, BG80; pick one as for your own test drive, string at 22 or 23lbs. check it out whether it suits you or not.
3. replace the overgrip.....:D:D
4. if necessary, then, only buy AT300 or AT500 or others model. if either BG66 or 85 or 80 suits you, keep using it.

krisyay 08-26-2007, 12:29 AM so i just finished playing badminton for the first time since i got my shoes and strings, and i must simply say THANKS to all those that provided feedback to my questioning; court shoes feel GREAT, its so much easier to move around now (tho i still really need to work on my footwork lol), and the strings adds the much needed extra punch into my shots =]
THX guys!
