Who are playing in this tournament? seiji_quang 08-22-2007, 06:47 AM a frottage cupule demob for Viet Nam U16 team. :D:D Krisna 08-22-2007, 09:34 AM a frottage cupule demob for Viet Nam U16 team. :D:D seiji, please translate this... :p We're supposed to post in English... :p Krisna 08-22-2007, 10:59 AM INA is doing its Under-16 selection right now... http://www.pbdjarum.com/upload/pic02cbfc18c587.jpg Rischa Meissiani is one of INA's top shuttlers in the GS Under-16 category. I expect her to be one of INA's representatives... :D She's quite cute... Rischa is from Manado, like the recently crowned XD World Champion, Lily Natsir... Yojimbo 08-22-2007, 04:16 PM Any news regarding the MAS contingent? So he deserves it. I see Rischa, Gebby, and Ayu are in. That's fair enough. They were either in the Winners or the Runner Ups of so many Under 16 Circuits this year. I keep seeing their 3 names again and again. I am not very aware of Elizabeth... maybe you know better, Sandy... Suci, Tiara, Della, and Aulia are also pretty well known... Some well known players weren't in squad are Rena Suwarno (Jaya Raya) and Riyanto Subagja (Djarum) I did't see Elizabeth's play yet, but she won in Bandung Circuit, her club is Mutiara Bandung, looked like a boy, I thaught she came from Maluku but her last name "PURWANINGTYAS" is Javanese name. fook1125 08-23-2007, 04:42 AM Quarter Final Girls Team Indonesia 2-0 Vietnam Korea 2-0 Sri Lanka Thailand 2-0 Malaysia China 2-0 Hong Kong Semi Final Indonesia vs Korea Thailand vs China Krisna 08-23-2007, 08:11 AM Some well known players weren't in squad are Rena Suwarno (Jaya Raya) and Riyanto Subagja (Djarum) I did't see Elizabeth's play yet, but she won in Bandung Circuit, her club is Mutiara Bandung, looked like a boy, I thaught she came from Maluku but her last name "PURWANINGTYAS" is Javanese name. Ah yes, Rena and Riyanto... I don't know what happened. I guess PBSI didn't see them as 'potential' enough. :p What? Elizabeth is the short boyish looking girl from Maluku?!? She is very very very short...!  PBSI picked her? She's 145cm or something? Surely shorter than the net... :o :o :o I admit Elizabeth played 'pretty' badminton. ;) Lots of trick shots that remind us fans of her club seniors -Iie Sumirat and Taufik Hidayat. But once she has to play against a very tall opponent like that Djarum girl [what's her name? The 175cm-something girl...?] who defeated her in the Jakarta Circuit... she was just outmanouvered... Her tall opponent was not as 'tricky' as Elizabeth and just played a plain game, yet Elizabeth could not cover the court anymore. Just outsized... :p Yojimbo 08-23-2007, 09:07 AM Thanks for the info guys.Keep updating. I am predicting like this based on past performance of our Juniors and Seniors... :p Krisna 08-23-2007, 10:12 AM Boy's Team Thailand vs. Indonesia 2-0 :o China vs. Malaysia 2-0 [U]Girl's Team Korea vs. Indonesia 2-0 :p [well... not too surprising] China vs. Thailand 2-0 For the complete results, connect to: http://www.badmintonasia.org/event_details.aspx?eventID=102 The draw for the Individual Matches are also there... Sonia Cheah is the younger sister of Lydia Cheah while the other two should be the sons of Li Yong Bo and Tang Xian Fu respectively. All have lost their matches. http://www.badmintonasia.org/images/spacer.gif kopiocan 08-26-2007, 12:58 AM well. of course Woon Khe Wei And Tan Wei Kiong will be first place in team and individuals!!!:) Krisna 08-26-2007, 01:15 AM well. of course Woon Khe Wei And Tan Wei Kiong will be first place in team and individuals!!!:) Are they Under-16? javaboy 08-26-2007, 02:27 AM Here are some pix from the individual event Krisna 08-26-2007, 08:41 AM Elizabeth got knocked out in the Round of 16 by Ma Xixi. Rischa Meisiani lost to Tang Jinhua 14-21, 21-14, 21-12 in the quarterfinals; as the sole Indonesian in the last 8. Does anybody know if Tang Jinhua related to Tang Xinhu, the former INA coach? The semifinals was an all-Chinese affair: Tang, Chen, Ma, and Bao. Chen Xiaojia eventually won... http://www.pbdjarum.com/upload/pica93568e8.jpg Rischa Meisiani Krisna 08-26-2007, 08:43 AM Can anybody please help me identify who is Ma, Bao, Chen, and Tang in this picture... http://www.badmintonasia.org/gallery/AJ%20U-16%202007/China%20GT.jpg Krisna 08-26-2007, 08:54 AM INA's best result is the finalist of the Girl's Doubles Ayu Pratiwi-Gebby Ristiyani Himawan... who lost to Xia Huan-Bao Yinxin of China. Evert Sukamta lost in the BS quarterfinals to Deng Peng... Prinyawat Thongnuam of Thailand won the BS title. This Thai youngster already has a BWF ID, so he must have competed as an adult before. Impressive... Raj Kumar-Prajakta Sawant of India won the XD... cool! I am rooting for Indian badminton boom...Choi Sung Il-Kang Ji Wook of Korea won the Boy's Doubles... No surprise here. Koreans are good at doubles... I don't know what they eat there that made it so. samuel882 08-26-2007, 08:56 AM Good to see some youngster coming out of ages from different nations.. Hopefully they able to end the Chinese dominant sooner. We'll soon see the badminton powerhouse China is falling just as the mighty US in BAsketball arena :D:D Krisna 08-28-2007, 08:46 AM Well.. We'll soon see the badminton powerhouse China is falling just as the mighty US in BAsketball arena :D:D If this Asian Under-16 is any indicator... then China's dominance will be reduced to... er... WS and WD... uh... which are their traditional powerbase eh? :p After a super-dominant decade in the 1990s, what China probably did not expect was the 1990s rivalry with INA and others in WS... China's first Gold Medal in Olympics WS was not in 1992, not in 1996, but in 2000... In the first 2 Olympics, China could not even get a Silver medal in WS. INA and KOR split the Gold and Silver between them in 1992 and 1996... ;) javaboy 08-28-2007, 10:25 AM How about the Philippines? I believe they will be a force to reckon with in the junior olympics in 2010. Mark my words! Krisna 08-28-2007, 10:39 AM I would love to see that too! Philippino GS and WS must be pretty players! Everybody will look like Diana Zubiri, Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Juliana, etc. :D We love our neighbours! I like the fact that INA is surrounded by badminton loving countries! More fun! Go Thailand, go Vietnam, go Malaysia, go Philippines! javaboy, are you Filipino or Indonesian (from Java?)? javaboy 08-28-2007, 08:08 PM I would love to see that too! Proudly Filipino! Its just too bad that our government doesn't give enough support to badminton (unlike our neighbouring countries). Krisna 08-28-2007, 09:58 PM Proudly Filipino! Its just too bad that our government doesn't give enough support to badminton (unlike our neighbouring countries). Right now, the Indonesian government is not helping our badminton governing body either. :p We're in the same situation then... :p Keep badminton growing as a grass-root sport. The Philippines will get there one day, as you optimistically mentioned. ;) I always support multiple country active participation. It is not as fun if we just play alone. So lonely... Double_Player 08-28-2007, 10:10 PM when I was a swimmer, we never get any funding...not even for national championship when you're representing the province...parents pay almost everything out of pocket. I think u guys in Indo should urged the PBSI to lobby or urge the government to keep the fund flowing. the Indo gov. should keep funding to practically the only sport that the Indonesian is really good at (I think, haven't been back home in 6 years). Krisna 08-29-2007, 12:41 AM I think u guys in Indo should urged the PBSI to lobby or urge the government to keep the fund flowing. the Indo gov. should keep funding to practically the only sport that the Indonesian is really good at (I think, haven't been back home in 6 years). Of course we did that, we are doing it now, and we will continue to urge the government to help in the future. With minimal results today because the INA government is not rich and have a lot of other headaches... :o You know laah [multiple natural disasters, unemployment, bewildering interpretations of vague laws, political chaos, etc.]... But we are not cry-babies! The quest to continue INA badminton glory shall continue despite our multi-faceted problems... :) jbchiong 08-29-2007, 12:56 AM How about the Philippines? I believe they will be a force to reckon with in the junior olympics in 2010. Mark my words! By the way, is there such a thing as "Junior Olympics"? Maybe you meant the 2010 Badminton Junior World Championship? :) At that time, you can expect Evert Sukamta [Tangkas] and Riyanto Subagja [Djarum] to be Boy's Singles contenders from INA. They will both be 18 in 2010... Ayu Pratiwi [Ragunan] and Rischa Meisianni [Djarum] for the Girl's Singles... :) I want to see whom in the Philippines that you have in mind...
