Dear Blessing,

I hope that Proton Malaysian Open 2008 will be held in Johore Bahru. It is nearer to S'pore and much easier for me to catch all the matches from the 1st to the final.I hope that I can continue my strong support for my beloved team, Malaysia. Hope for the best and eventually be champion again for men single and retain men doubles title.

It does not matter to me where is the location. But not Putra Stadium, as Putra Stadium always be jinxed to our team. I hope that it will be held in KLBA instead of Putra. As I do not want incident in WC to occur again.

KLBA Stadium is too small.. This year's MO, the seats were so full, spectators had to sit on the stairs. And others can't walk around cuz every space was full with sitting & standing spectators. Faint.

I think Mint Hotel has closed several years ago. The hotel around Times Square is too far from Putra Stadium and the traffic is always too heavy. If astro u have enough budget, Golden Horse Palace Hotel is the best choice coz it is 5 starts hotel and it is reli luxurious. If not, you can consider about Sri Petaling Hotel which is located quite near from Putra Stadium.

Got this from BWF website...the event is now most probably gonna be held in KL

PRESS RELEASE

Super Series Masters Finals

20 November 2007

THIS week's China Masters and next week's Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open will bring to an end a successful inaugural year of the Badminton World Federation's (BWF) Super Series circuit.

Anne Smillie, BWF executive board member and new chair of the Federation's Events Committee, said today: "In December 2006, BWF contracted SMP to finance, organise and stage these finals and provide US$500,000 in prizemoney. The contractual responsibility lies with the company.
"BWF had been advised that the Finals were planned for December 18-23 in Qatar but SMP have now advised a switch of date and venue is now necessary.
"SMP have advised that the anticipated sponsorship from Qatar, which would have underpinned the Masters, has not been achieved and ALOR STAR, KEDAH, MALAYSIA has been put forward as an alternative venue. But the proposed new dates of December 18-22 will not be possible because Malaysia's religious ceremony of Hari Raya Haji falls on December 20.
"In fairness to players, officials, and most of all the thousands of spectators who support our great game worldwide, BWF are in close and urgent discussions with SMP to resolve this situation but the contract places the responsibility for the event with SMP," said Anne Smillie.
Datuk Punch Gunalan, Executive Deputy President of BWF, reinforced Smillie's comments when he said: "We are delighted with the success of the first 10 tournaments in this new 12-event circuit.
"Naturally BWF is aware of the frustration of our Member Associations regarding the Super Series Masters Final. We would like to stress that we are working hard to ensure the tournament proceeds and that all the players who qualify for the Masters have adequate time to prepare.
"We want it to be the big success it deserves, with big crowds, worldwide TV coverage and great badminton."
Over the next few days BWF will be working hard to resolve the situation and will make an annoucement as soon as possible. BWF has been in constant contact with SMP to resolve the situation.
BWF Super Series II begins on January 15 with the Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur followed by the Korean Open on January 22.

I can't be 100% if they're going to re-date it..but they most probably won't coz it's unusual to start the tournament on the 1st week of January (clashes wth new year holiday as well)..the 2nd week also would be a bit too soon for MO bearing in mind that at the moment that the year end SS FInals is still a mess, less than a month to go but the venue & date still undecided & that's y i think they have enough headaches and won't even think of starting the MO earlier than the 3rd week of Jan (the last week of Jan = Korea Open).....Postponding it will be a NO as well for me coz the 1st week of Feb = Chinese New Year holidays and the 2nd week most of the chinese ppl will still be in a CNY mood (unless they don't care if the Chinese are gonna take part or not + no proper training just after CNY)....the 3rd week is the only possibility if the wanna postpond it but i still think it's too early to start coz no proper training and organizing due to CNY...hope this reply will calm u down...cheerrzzzz:cool:

I have looked at the threads on hotels.. But it is always hard to know if price/performance is any good, and if good internet connection is complementary in the hotel rooms..

Does anyone know if the Nova hotel have in-room internet access?

My travel agency only had 2,5 stars on the palace of golden horses ???!?

Think about this, a game LCW vs LD vs TH vs BCL vs CJ vs PG vs either of them is going on and you are assigned on the other court which DJ/YY vs GL/ZZ and only to find out one of the team retire halfway of the game.

And if I dont mind of this, I can only attend on weekend.

I am going to MO this year, is the Swiss garden hotel good?

I have looked at the threads on hotels.. But it is always hard to know if price/performance is any good, and if good internet connection is complementary in the hotel rooms..

Does anyone know if the Nova hotel have in-room internet access?

My travel agency only had 2,5 stars on the palace of golden horses ???!?

Cheers,
Twobeer
It stated in their website they provide internet service but Im not sure if it will charge you extra. But you can always walk 3-5 minutes to a starbuck, coffee bean, McD, shopping centre, and a lot of places with free wifi services given the location of your hotel. Or there are abundance of cyber game station which only cost you 4-5 krone if you dont want to bring your laptop around.

Yeah, true.. But it is always so much more convenient to check mail (log onto BF :-) , and surf at night or in the morning in the room :-) .

And usually the speed at gamestations etc usually is panifuly slooooow (especially if the charge by hour/minute)..

Has anyone tried the www.tunehotels.com, it seems extremely inexpensive..

I figured I could book a week there, and if it is to bad. I could just switch to the golden palace or something...

The Swiss Garden hotel is ok but stay away from the Nova hotel. Your best bet is Tunehotels, which is cheap, clean, and very convenient to all the eateries, and within easy walking distance from the two rail system stations. Getting to and from the airport is also very convenient. On top of that you have free use of 5 pcs for internet. The Tunehotels is a no frills hotel but with a good bed and shower. It has no chairs, no towels, no soap, just toilet roll and a bathroom foot towel. Air conditioning is charged separately, Ringgit 5 for 5 hours or Ringgit 10 for 12 hours and its used is within your control. A fan is provided.
But one thing you want to bear in mind is to book a double room as there are more double rooms with an airwell view, which insulates you from those deafening traffic noises. Most single rooms have very good views of the Petronas tower and other grand buildings but you won't be able to sleep well because of the traffic noise. When you check in, insist on a room with an airwell view and stay away from streetside views. There is a convenience store at the lobby, open 24 hours. You can either buy a towel and other bathroom toiletries there or you can bring your own. There are no wardrobes, no hangers. There are two coffee shops, a licensed money changer and an ATM machine for cash advances or withdrawals.
Personally I find this hotel very suitable, having stayed there at least 4 to 5 times. I used to stay at a suite at Times Square, with compliments from my brother. Although the suite at Times Square is out of this world, I prefer the Tunehotels for its convenience.
Let me know if you need more info.

Believe me the traffic noise at the first to fifth floor level is deafening, especially from motor cycles late at night and in the early hours. The windows have no double glazing. Sometimes the sound from motor cycles sound like machine gun shots. Many western guests have complained about this.
BTW the room is small, just slightly larger than a queen-size bed. It is a place to sleep only, not to entertain friends. There is however a folding table.
You will find all sorts of guests there, mainly from East Malaysia, Singapore, India, and the U.S. and Europe. Unlike the Swiss hotel, breakfast is not included. Another thing, there is only one electrical outlet beneath the folding table. It is similar to the British 3 rectangular pin type. Voltage is 220 volt. You may want to bring a multiple adapter with British 3-prongs on one side and European two-prong outlets on the other side. This will come in useful for your shaver, mobile phone, digital camera, electric toothbrush, etc.
There is also a locker behind the counter where you can put your valuables. It is free except for two 50 cents coins the first time you use the locker, and two 50 cents coins everytime you open the locker and have to lock it again. There is also a longer period storage room for your baggages, at Ringgit 1 for each luggage per day. This is useful if you need some temporary storage when you have check out temporarily and will return later.
The security is very good. The service is also very good. English is spoken there.

Wow, Palace of Golden Horses is 6 star hotel, very expensive by Msian standard. Swiss Garden if I'm not mistaken is 5 star.

Cybercafe in Msia charge only MYR2.50- MYR3.00 per hour. Cheap after exchange rates.

I hope there will be no "umpiring and line judging" disease in Malaysian Open. The last World Championships in the same venue had one of the most impartial judging I've ever seen in 30 years, never mind that home players didn't perform to expectation (except CTF/LWW and WMC).
