View Full Version : SK-70 not 70 grams!
I just found out that the SK-70 is not 70 grams. It turns out ot be 70 grams without the grip so there is 1/3 of the weight is missing. What a maketing scam!
Going by what u say, if 2/3rds weight is 70 gms then man the racket is just a U in terms of weight!
The fraction was suppose to give you the idea what is missing. Lets say it's about 10 grams missing without the grip, how about that since it was measured in a badminton shop today with a electronic scale.
uhm... mine weighs 70 grams with the grip... actually 75 grams with many overgrips too.
I think efd's discovery varies depending on what grip size is the racket.
I believe it only comes in one size.
dont u guys think efd is just trying to get you worked up? take a look at his name, it doesnt even take careful consideration to type that name out. its almost the same as typing out asd... seems to me like he's just trying to make fun of people. which has been happening quite often lately on this board. but... then again I might be wrong.

Where can I buy one of those racquets if I'm in Toronto, Canada? Also, how stiff is the karakal?

ALso I heard you need a strong arm/wrist to play with light racquets.... so maybe I shouldn't get one so light like the karakal.

No, it doesn't come in ISO
Don't you need a strong arm to play with heavier rackets? I guess it's subjective. Pick 1 up and see how it feels.
Where abouts are you in TO? I can let you try out the SL70, Ti75 (titanium), SL80 & TG90. I play several times a week, so let me know if you're interested.

Hence my name I only started playing around 4 months ago! Currently using a mp-55 and I think it's a bit too heavy for me. I'm not sure if oval will suit me though since I am used to iso. But I guess thats just a matter of time. I live at around Jane/dundas area. Thanks! Oh and where did you buy yours? I don't think any stores sell them here.

What's your email or msn?
It's all a matter of time that you'll get used to it's new design...whether it's ISO or oval head, longer or shorter shaft, after a short period of time, you'll eventually get use to the racquet. I saw it at a store in Edmonton couple years ago and I just love it so my friend and I have some connections to get the racquets ship to us. Why don't you email me where you usually play and perhaps I could meet up w/ you and let you test it out...it's different than the Yonex racquets that you're used to of course...
talk to you later...
You can contact me at the above email address...

WOW i wouldn't get it if i were you.no power at all and once you play with this racket its very hard to switch to a nother racket.
May be you can't deliver the power? The racquet is nice and light and maneuvable. I can generate the equivalent amount of power as with my ti-10 because I have the skill.

How would you rate control for the sk-70 vs the ti-10 don? Like controlling drops and stuff which one is better?
The minor, and I emphasize minor differences is the net play and the time it takes to reset. The SL-70 is shorter and lighter; therefore, making it a little more maneuverable at the net. During long rallies, the amount of time to reset is slightly quicker. All other shots I do not really see any difference in feel.

it's no that i can't deliever the power... Go read my review in the misc section.I take back what i say.this racket has OK power.just cause it's light and head light.
control and everyting else is great.just read my review
I question your "OK power". What does this mean? You contradict yourself on control. Did you use the factory strings? What tension did you use on this racquet?

The power was not great.I restrung it at 23lbs with bg-70pro.The power was not great but control was easy. Its very sharp on net play. but i would say the power was equal to what yo wold get from a Ti-5 light but VERY strong wrist plyer could get ore out of it.I get alot more power from my forza starpower 10000.
It really depends on the person's skill not the racquet (in most cases). If you have the skill and wrist strength, you can certainly generate enough speed in your smash. I've been using the SL70 strung at 25lbs w/ BG65 and switching to Ti75 strung at 26lbs w/BG70 depending on situations...to say these 2 racquets generate no power would be a major understatement...
