Thats the heading in today's New Sunday Times.
When are we gonna learn? We keep on betting on the dead horse hoping it will turn into a prize winning stallion one day. By doing so (keeping and nurturing the dead wood), we are denying the juniors the opportunity to get the much needed experience. Thus, our talent pool will always be nothing but a "dried up pond".
Thats the Msian disease. The favourtism is just too plain obvious for all to see. If Hafiz Hashim is from China, LYB and the China BA would have shown him the door some 4 years ago.
Whats comical is that just because of Hafiz's improved discipline during training, Misbun suddenly thinks that the lad can suddenly bounce back. What kind of assessment is that!
If we are serious about winning the future WC and Olympic Gold (beyond Beijing), then we need to drop those dead beats and blood the juniors. Or else we are only going to kid ourselves.

Are BAM really denying the juniors the opportunity to get the much needed experience ? ... hmmm

yes, the question remains, can these juniors beat hafiz on a daily basis? if they could, then by all means send them to all the tournaments but if they still struggle to beat our own hafiz who are not really performing up to his potential, will that be beneficial? i think the coaches knows the players well. i think the juniors have been in a lot of tournaments gaining experience and skills along the way. i would like to see the juniors step up and take the place among the top players too. all in good time i think.

Before we go ahead and say whether this juniors can beat Hafiz on a regular basis, we need to ask ourselves whether they have been given the exposure to gain the experience?
And how are the juniors going to gain the experience when BAM keep on hogging the dead beats like Hafiz?

Hahaha Pemuda, so you've now discovered a new word 'dead beats' to have a go at the players. Sure Hafiz is not up to par but you'll find there aren't any chomping at the bits to replace him. Aside from LCW and to a certain level WCH the gap widens. The juniors will be getting exposure soon, the powers that be have mentioned so. But you can't hurry stuff like that.
Hey chill out and be more positive and start looking at that glass as half full for a change.

Chill out? Congrats, on your new discovery too. "Chill", dude.
How can there be juniors coming thru, when the juniors themselves are deprived of the exposure they need when we keep on betting on lame horses like Hafiz? The juniors be getting the exposure soon?? Well, dude this should have happened long long long time ago. It is called future planning/development.

From what I can gather the juniors have been sent to quite a few tournaments recently. Just because there aren't any for the India Open doesn't mean it's back to the dark ages.
And what's this 'dude' stuff?? That went with the ark sometime ago.

Hafiz is a failure.Thats the truth and his fans(including me) have to accept that.we have given so many chances for him for 4 years(its gonna be 5 years now).and we got nothing.
But can we give him a very last chance again? He has proved himself in 2003.thats the real him.AE2003 maybe changed the true hafiz.
he may found himself soon.if we dismiss him now,we may lost him forever.

We've seen some improvements on HH game.. He not feeling well in the second round. Till he even wanna vomit. But he keeps going & give Anup a good fight before bowing down. Wonder how many player get sick but still can play with an on-form opponents for 3 grueling sets.
Misbun certainly see his improvement too.. That's the reason a good coach like him never give up on HH harshly .

Dude, which is which now?? One minute you say "The juniors will be getting exposure soon, the powers that be have mentioned so." and then you went "From what I can gather the juniors have been sent to quite a few tournaments recently".
You are all over the place, trying to piece together a decent argument. Do yourself a favour, be consistent at the very least.

Okay, Juniors have been sent to various tournaments including the All England 07. The powers that be have acknowledged that it is the way forward and are going to continue. Hope this is clear and if for some reason it is not than I give up.
Meantime the current crop of seniors have to fly the flag best they can.
BTW is it really miserable where you reside or is it just your general nature to be pessimistic?

I can see you are now at least trying to be consistent. Thats good.
For Msian badminton, the way forward is to have a clear direction and not some wishy washy thingy like "The juniors will be getting exposure soon, the powers that be have mentioned so." and then back pedaling to a "From what I can gather the juniors have been sent to quite a few tournaments recently".
You need to understand that going forward means giving em' juniors the exposure and not keep on going back to someone like Hafiz Hashim. This back pedaling is denying playing time and exposure to the juniors, thus hampering their development, thus the lack of new players from the current talent pool.
BTW, try to act your age rather than your shoe size.

Are you saying that the juniors can't gain any experience by playing against Hafiz ?. I do not care much about Hafiz now, yet still I believe the coaches know better.

I am saying that our juniors are denied the nescessary exposure when BAM continue to put up with the likes of Hafiz.

Well if they can beat hafiz, I'm sure they will get any kind of exposure they like.
Anyway I see them around quite frequently these days despite your claim of no exposure. Lim Kenn, TCS, Bernyo and many of them.

our juniors have been featured in other tournaments and they have been doing well. however none of them have won these tournaments regularly. and these are the tournaments where none of the top players are playing. so i think in terms of exposure they are getting them. when they start to win these smaller tournaments regularly then we can talk about giving them hafiz's place. i know pemuda is gonna argue that even hafiz are not winning any tournaments so what's the difference between him and the juniors. that would be experience. and the juniors just need to build up their self confidence slowly. my two cents. :)
