Its certainly going to be very competitive tournament, despite only a GP Gold event. Most top 10 ranked players/pairs are there.

INA's participants, seedings in bracket:

MEN'S SINGLES
Pelatnas
Sony Dwi Kuncoro (8)
Taufik Hidayat (9)
Simon Santoso (14)
Andreas Adityawarman

Djarum
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono
Ari Yuli Wahyu Hartanto

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Pelatnas
Maria Kristin Yulianti
Adriyanti Firdasari

Djarum
Slyvinna Kurniawan (Qualifying)
Tangkas
Melicia Kurniawan (Qualifying)

MEN'S DOUBLES
Pelatnas
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan (3)
Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto (8)
Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi
Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan (yes!)

Djarum
Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki (Qualifying)
-- my expectation is now lowered, it will be very good if Rian/Yoke were to advance to the second round; given the competition.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Pelatnas
Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nursugianti (8)
Jo Novita/Greysia Polii
Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir
Yulianti/Richi Puspita Dili (yes!)
Lita Nurlita/Nitya Krishinda (so I suppose no more Nitya/Nadya pairing)

Djarum
Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawaty

MIXED DOUBLES
Pelatnas
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir (1)
Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa (2)
Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii
Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita
Tantowi Ahmad/Yulianti (yes!)
Lingga Lie/Nitya Krishinda (Qualifying)
-- with no Zheng Bo/Gao Ling, Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen, Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms and Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg in the Draw, NOTHING LESS THAN A TITLE is expected here! It's basically a show of depth from Team Pelatnas, with ALL its FULL first and second team pairings being fielded here

Djarum
Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki/Meiliana Jauhari (Qualifying)

The participants in this GP Gold are almost similar with Japan SS. INA send all top plus second string players to compete here. Meanwhile CHN and MAS also will come with powerful squad except their two prominent XD and MD respectively.

On paper, agree with badMania that INA has best prospect to win title through XD.

..at least for the Denmark Open, considering Tony is going to play for the Danish league anyway, after the JO:confused:...But could be a difficult proposition for Candra as he has to travel a long way again..:p

I thought Gao Ling is listed and only playing WD, not XD anymore....do you have sources that she might skip this event? CHN is supposed to participate fully in Taiwan as part of their political agenda...you know what I mean......;)

Its funny that the indonesians players names has to be inserted with their club name. Why cant just leave the club name?

Its fuuny if i put tha names of players like

LCW
KLRC
LTS
SAIROL

Its like battle of clubs..who reign supreme.. anyway all play for one flag.

But TO is right after the JO right? or maybe they should skip the Kedah Open...to let the younger player to compete...they should concentrate more in the international curcuit...:(

Kedah Open is for all the seniors and juniors. I think this KO is the most participated event for local circuit. Thanks to the cancelation of India Open.

This year, China has announced that they will not participate the event and they will not send anyone there in the Taipei open.

I think it's visa related problems...

They already got the visa approval a week ago so visa is not the problem; the politics is. (It's something to do with the ongoing olympics case)

So, at the end, china badminton association just turned down the whole game. No china team members will go.

internationalbadminton.org has put up an announcement that there will be a re-draw on Monday due to the sheer number of withdrawals.

In the MS, I don't think Chen Hong will be withdrawn since he's no longer in the national team. Moreover, this is becoming more like a home event for him considering that his wife is from Chinese-Taipei :D So, he will rise up to be the top seed, followed by Lee Chong Wei. Good news for Sony Dwi Kuncoro as he and Peter Gade will make up the top 4. Taufik Hidayat will also now be among the top 8 seeds.

With Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun, Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo and Shen Ye/He Hanbin missing in the draw, Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan will be the top seed in MD. Good news too for Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki as they just make it to the main draw. I also hope that Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi are given a favorable draw, after very bad draws in recent tourneys. Hopefully Kido/Hendra, AG/Joko, Luluk/Alvent and possibly Rian/Yoke will be in the QF.

The most drastic changes will be in WS. Now, Wang Chen and Pi Hongyan will be the top 2 seeds, followed by Wong Mew Choo and Yao Jie.

The top seed in the WD will be the home pair Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing, followed by Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota. This will be good news for Jo Novita/Greysia Polii and Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir (esp since Vita/Butet are originally drawn to face Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen in the second round)

In XD, He Hanbin/Yu Yang and Xu Chen/Zhao Tingting's withdrawals mean that Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita just make it to be seeded 8th (very good!). They should fulfill their seeding and with some luck, make it to the last 4.
