Greetings members@ccc,
In the past, many ideas have been churned out. But not many were implemented.
And because I am the organiser, I usually get the blame. :):):)
Many members have said... "We have these new ideas, but why aren't they implemented?".
Answer = We have no worker bee to organise/work on your new ideas.
And, at the same time, many members have heard us saying again and again... "If we have a new idea, we will give it a go".
Why do we keep saying it, when nothing can come out of it?.
Answer = No worker bee has come forward to organise/work on your idea.
But please note:
We must not forget to mention those ideas that have been carried out, that is, when some of our members were able to carry out those tasks, namely;
(1) Social Games... DoublesPlease, helmut, chris@ccc
(2) League Games... BadFever, DoublesPlease, hkhung
(3) Handicapped Games... DoublesPlease, helmut, chris@ccc
(4) Friendly Inter-Club Games... hkhung, smashed_1, chris@ccc
(5) Coaching And Training Sessions (CATS)... chris@ccc
(6) Annual CCC Closed Tournaments... chris@ccc
(7) Social Functions/Dinners/Parties... chris@ccc
(8) Bringing in more members... andrewghw, Hagane, hkhung, monic@, Siva-S, Tony-P
If we have missed any member in the above list, we apologise... please add in your names. :)
Currently, we are still waiting to implement these ideas;
(1) New way to pick players for our Handicapped Games (HandsFull suggested it)
(2) New Wednesday & Friday League Games (thiru@cc & hkhung are making plans)
(3) CCC T-shirt (NaNo-TiMe is hoping to continue with it)
(4) CCC Library (so far only yschin has contributed a magazine)
(5) Singles Games (so far only hkhung & Mikester have commented on it)
(6) Social Functions (chris@ccc organised our Xmas & Chinese New Year gatherings)
(7) Advertising CCC (chris@ccc did some advertising)
(8) Scholarships for our Juniors@CCC (chris@ccc is working at it)
There is so much to do, but we all have so little time.
Let us hope that we can get our members to be more active... to be involved as 'Worker Bees@CCC'.
Cheers... chris@ccc

I think I can do marketing and advertising for the club. Of course I can help out to coordinate events.

yours words are marked.
seriously, i would help you to organise social event. In anything, for the upcoming day that friday CCC would be cancelled, we could start asking people now.

it's good that so many people have opinion. i was thinking instead of all diverting our effort everywhere, i suggest we all start talking together to have a decision first, then start organizing together.

i don't know whether this is the right place to put this, but i will have a go.
Joseph (who come on friday regularly) had discussed with us the possibility of organsing things.
At the moment, CCC social functions are organised in the sense of
- asking people for opinion whether they are interested or not
- set the date + place
- once we get enough people then go ahead!
joseph had thought of having a committee to organise things (correct me if i am wrong, joseph). this committee would meet periodically (monthly i imagine) to organise social things. And he propose having different committee for different things.
my thoughts are as followed
- i mean friday supper is the time to know each other, rite? so this serious business of committee would mean people are robbed of the chance to catch up. Who else would join the committee if they have to discuss serious business instead of socialising? in that case, i might not even come to supper anymore.
- secondly, i do not agree with this notion of organising as this is more like "doing things, then see who comes" rather than "ask everybody, do what they want". Cos at the end of day, CCC club is about what people want, rite? i mean if we were going to have another episode of glen waverley hotel where there's only me, chris, karen and jason who came along, what's the point of organsing things? It's no point to be a "worker bee" to organise things if there's no one interested. What's the point of having CCC shirt if there were only 2 person who are interested?
But joseph, don't despair. once CCC is disbanded into separate things (which chris has been mentioning lately on the thread and due to the past 2 friday attendacne) and CCC becoming "place to play" rather than "membership club", all your ideas would not happen cos there's no members in "places to play".
seriously, any suggestions are welcomed. And smashed_1, if you are reading this thread, please post a message saying "i read it". So we all know you .... ur read it.

The next time (only the 3rd time) that our CCC is cancelled, will be on Friday 9 November 2007.
Since friday is not having many people, this is what i propose.
A. 3 weeks from the destined date, we ask everybody on friday what they like to do
B. once there is a reasonable amount of people (say 5) wanna do the same thing, it would go ahead
C. then go back (2 weeks left hopefully) and ask everybody they are interested or not.
D. then the rest of the people would either have to read the board to find out cos i certainly am not going to email 70 odd members. And since there's no section 1 league on Sunday, those people would just have to read the board to find out more
Hence we are ONLY going to organize if there's enough people interested. The function can be canceled at stage B. or C before everybody else find out.
smashed_1, tell me what you think.

Greetings,
We now have Worker Bee #3, villenueve, and Worker Bee #4, helmut. :):):)
Letterbox drops around Waverley area was suggested by villenueve, and he will be doing it.
Then it was suggested by helmut and jwksam that we could introduce Badminton to new comers by allowing them to try it free of charge.
So from this week, all first time comers to CCC will be entitled to a free session. :):):)

Hi,
Fyi, I have emailed our promotions to the following media:
English: Whitehorse Leader, Manningham Leader, Melbourne Weekly Eastern
Chinese: Asian Multimedia, Melbourne Chinese Post
As this is a free service offered by the media, they have their decisions to publicise it or not. I talked to the Chinese media and the chance is higher than English papers.
It will be in the community news section.
Don't expect there is an immediate result. Melbourne Weekly Eastern said we need to email the details 3 weeks prior to the event.

Hi jwksam,
Thank you for sending our promotions to the media.
Last night, our members@ccc were hoping that you would turn up to update your details.
BTW, since we've made the announcement "First time comers to CCC will be entitled to a free session", 4 new comers have already taken up the offer. And Wendy, our favourite waiter from our supper venue, was one of them. :):):)

Hi Chris,
I'm so sorry that I was unable to join. It is because I was requested on Thur to organise two Cocktail Receptions on Sat and Sun.:(
Anyone has read this week's Melbourne Chinese Post? Our promotion has been publicised on the community section. Who has Asian Multimedia? I believe our promotion is there too. I will keep doing this as long as those media would not ask me for lunch! :p
Good to hear that 4 new comers have already taken up the offer. Hope they will be our new members after first session. You guys must be nice to them too, or they might just come to say "hi" and then "bye".:rolleyes:
See you on the coming Fri!

Greetings,
Remember that we are doing a Membership Drive because we want to have our fees for playing at CCC to be cheaper. The more members we have, the lesser the fee per member is required to cover our cost of running our club.
Some of our players@ccc might not know that venues to play Badminton can be categorised as follows;
(1) Public Group.... without membership, and all players are welcome
(2) Private Group... without membership, but lower skilled players not welcome
(3) Public Club...... with membership, and visitors are welcome
(4) Private Club..... with membership, but visitors are not welcome
As you can see, our CCC Badminton Club belongs to category (3), where our sessions are devoted to members, and visitors are most welcome.
I have been a player in many groups and a member of many clubs. And I know that players or members attending those venues, as listed above, pay more attention to how the groups or the clubs are organised and how friendly they are, rather than to how much each player or member has to pay.
So... what jwksam have posted is true...
We must be nice to them too, or they might just come to say "hi" and then "bye".:rolleyes:
Cheers... chris@ccc

in this sense, we should be more than appreciative of all 1st timers if we think of them as potential CCC representative if we want good "word of mouth" from them to tell people of how good our CCC is.
Joseph, knowing you are the leading think tank of marketing from CCC at the moment, i believe you know how important good "word of mouth" is.

Greetings,
Just received mail from Waverley Christian College...
====== ====== start mail ====== ======
Please note that the gymnasium floor must be swept after every session. It has been found very messy with rubbish left on the floor. Scissor brooms are available in the storeroom, and your key opens the cleaning cupboard in the gym foyer.
It is part of the Conditions of Hire that you clean after every session – regardless! If mess continues, you will be charged a $30 cleaning fee after each booking.
====== ====== end mail ====== ======
Don't worry... CCC Badminton always sweep up after our sessions@Waverley. :)
However, this mail reminded us to thank those Worker Bees@CCC who have swept the floor after our sessions;
1. villenueve
2. monic@
3. andrewghw
4. David-N
5. helmut
6. DoublesPlease
7. shonty
8. BK186
Cheers... chris@ccc

In order to avoid setting up the net, i have never come on 7:30 on friday for many many weeks. Hence i think the people who set up the net at the beginning/end of the session should deserve some mention for their good work.
So it's thank you for kelvin k who did that at the end for this past friday. And Chris, if you remember who set up the net at 7:30pm, please put their name down.

Hi hkhung,
For those who have swept the floor, only 8, so we listed them here.
For those who have set up the posts & nets, there are some 80 members/players to list. Just too many names to type. :):):)
But we all know who these helpful members/players are.
And as you know, we always remember our members/players who have contributed to our CCC Badminton Family.
Cheers... chris@ccc
