I have been in Japan for a couple of years and I have joined a club. It is great and all, but I would seriously like to play more than once a week...My schedule, though, prevents me from playing in the evenings.

Does anyone know of any clubs that meet mornings, in Tokyo?

badminton deprived:(

Hi,Ethan

Some people play in Tokyo between 9-12 in the morning.
I never heard a place to play before 9am.

They use a public gym. Contact the gym near your place.
If you don't get it, let me know. I will help you .

Thank you miyuki

I have tried 5 local gyms, and there are some open gym times when I can play, but only on the weekend. I'd really like to play on Tues or Thurs mornings. I live in Suginami-ku, but I am willing to travel. I'm an advanced begginer:D.
can you help me miyuki?

Hi,Ethan

How about Shibuya or Takadanobaba?
There is a public gyms.

Shibuya opens on Tuesday, Takadanobaba opens on Tuesday and Thursday.

You bring some shuttles there for joining.

My friend gave me infomation for gym in Shinjuku.

http://www.shinjuku-spocen.com/map.html (http://www.shinjuku-spocen.com/map.html)

The gym actually opens from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
It's 400yen, you buy the ticket at the first floor and the gym
is in the third floor.

Try to join it if possible.

About Shibuya, I don't know if there are some players in the morning.
My non-Japanese friends want to play on Tuesday, too. So if they can join it, It is good for you all. I will make some time to go to Shibuya if you can come.

I send my PC mail address to your PM.

Talk to you later
Miyuki

previously I said I couldn't find a place to play...well, I have had some success. I have found a place and a time to play badminton! most/all the people who play there though are clubs or groups of friends, and they aren't interested in letting an outsider play...
come to Takadanobaba! (near shinjuku) To Shinjuku Sports center! I play from 9am-11:30am on Thursday.
leave a message here and I will respond to you ASAP. :D

Hi,sboy

Our club open this Sunday afternoon. It takes about 15minutes from Shibuya by train. If you want to join, I will tell you the detail.
Some non-Japanese are going to join there. Almost of them are members of this site.

Enjoy staying in Tokyo

Miyuki

hello Sboy,
before I say anything, I have to say that Miyuki is the queen of helping people find places to play badminton. She is fantastic. Actually, she is the one who told me where to find the place I go to now. I do sometimes play at the weekend as well. But it is usually with a club...and the club is kinda full...
However, if you are looking for a place to play on the 1st and 3rd sundays of each month I know of two places in Suginami-ku. one is from 9:00-1:00 and the other is from 1:15-5:00pm.
I a
often go there, when I'm not working, so I can show you the way there if you'd like.....but I would be very happy if you wanted to play on Thursdays!

hi ethan, i have to agree with you, Miyuki is so helpful and i think she should get an award for it.
Our time in tokyo is tight as we are only there for less than a week and my friend is hoping to get to Hakone for the hotspring. We are both very keen badminton players and play regularly to a reasonable level and are trying to meet friends in japan while doing something we enjoy. It's my first time to Japan and am therefore extremely excited. Hope we can play one day.

right on! Hakone is very nice. Be sure to take the Romance car on the Odakyu sen! but make sure it is the 50,000 model...There are many romance cars, but the special express50000 only leaves a couple of times a day. It is GREAT! You can take the Romance Car from Shinjuku

hello jurong twister,
Sorry, actually I've been really busy. I haven't played on thursday for a long time...work.
however, I'm willing to bet there are still people meeting at that time. The closest station to the gym is Takadanobaba on the Yamanote line. I could give you better directions if you want.
Where do you live? If you live close I could suggest some other places.
