hi everyone, anyone can kindly share infomation about Sun Jun??? i heard about him when i started playing badminton but did not have much chance to watch his game and soon he was seldom seen in action...
i knew that he also took part in the OG2000 but knock out in the quater i guess < never get to watch that too :( >

so maybe you guys can tell me more about the way he plays his game? maybe similar to what kinda player now this and that...

It's so cool that someone start out this thread. I thought Sun Jun has been forever forgotten. Sun Jun is my very first badminton idol. Glad that someone still remember him even after so many years that he's been retired. The only thing I know about Sun Jun is his cute and adorable son-Sun Wen Jun. Looks so similar to Sun Jun. (like photostating their faces from a photocopier)

wow, so he married Ge Fei! She was a brilliant WD player right? I've just been watching Sun Jun in his 1997 world championship MSF match against Peter Rasmussen where SJ lost. Incredible game! Really rotten luck that SJ got major cramps in the last set. What happened to him afterwards? What does he do now?

I'm very happy that I was able to witness Ge Fei and Sun Jun in becoming the 1999 World Champion. Grabbing the title together. Saw Ge Fei supporting his hubby and Sun Jun almost cry after winning the title. Ge Fei/Gu Jun were once the unbeatable pair in the world and still hold the longest standing of world no.1 position.

Ge Fei looks like Gao Ling in these pictures... Ge Fei-Gu Jun in their heydays were even more feared than today's Gao Ling-Huang Sui...

so Ge Fei and Sun Jun were a bit like the Xie Xingfang and Lin Dan of the 1990s? Or maybe I should say LD and XXF are the 'new' SJ and GF :D

Yupz, Sun Jun married Ge Fei after OG 2000 i guest.
Sun Jun was World Champion 1999 and Ge Fei also World Champion 1999 on WD with Gu Jun

Aw man I've been looking everywhere for any bit of info on Sun Jun! All I had were like, a couple memories of his games, and a black and white picture :(.

I wanted to know more about my badminton idol with the same last name :D. Both of our family names are Sun 孫 :D.

Ge/Gu was the greatest WD pair of all time. Other pairs find it hard even to stretch them to 3 games and their unbeaten record is just phenomenal.

Agree, they are one of the best WD pair China ever had.
O... so Ge Fei married Sun Jun? Fantastic.
