a) let me just clarify this, I am not just promoting dancing, but also social things
b) there were a few people who sang on karaoke at chinese new year, lot more than last year. so i can clearly there are people who are interested in that
maybe people are more interested in sing. Chris, I sincerely hope CCC members could join in this discussion.
.
We have hkhung saying that Dancing is good as a Social activity.

No, i am not competing for "u think u can dance". anybody there is a professional dancer, which i daresay most of swing dancers are not. at least they won't be affected by financial storm cos i doubt they have any super.
in terms of losing weight, it depends on the style. clubbing is reallly about upper body and i would say you would not be able to lose any weight clubbing 24/7. on the other hand, many dance style is about whole body movement, in latin u use hips and sometimes u twist your lower body in ways that other sports does not. then u can expect to tone up more than playing bamdinton. Also, dancing is about continous movement, badminton (in my understanding) doubles especially is a lot stop and start. so what do u think lose more weight?
mind u, i was having this conversation with Chris, there are some big singles players out there. what's the name of that female player again? i don't think she can prove to anybody that u would lose weight playing badminton.
here's a few things that i found lately that make dancing that much more attractive than badminton
- women are more likely to do dancing rather than badminton. No wonder it's so hard to get women to do badminton in melbourne
- you sit around a lot waiting for your game in badminton, but u don't do that in dancing
- there's a lot more opportunity to social with someone through dancing. do you know anybody who have a conversation with someone during the middle of the game?
in swing (my dance), we don't have half as much as politics as badminton world where
- some ppl only wanna play with some ppl
- some ppl only want strong games
- some ppl actually think they could teach you how to play badminton by telling u what to do and some of those advice are wrong e.g left always stay on the left
hence, it's actually a lot more nicer to be as a beginner in dance world rather than badminton world.
Why do u think it's so hard to get female to play badminton? All my female friends are game enough to try dancing, but not badminton (unless they play quite well), do u have any other reasons?
