Rexy is in Malaysia to train the other four pairs for Macau Open. Two pairs are playing in Taiwan Open and four in Macau Open. He was with them for Japan Open though.

Zakry & Fairuz reached semis for this tournament, though it's only GP Gold. Japan Open they crashed either 1st or 2nd round. Thailand Open, China Masters they didn't do well. If that can be called improvement, then it did work.

TBin Shen/Ong SH reached semis of China Masters after crashing early round of Thailand Open - to redeem themselves of sorts.
GanTC/LimWH - after so many early round exits, finally made semis of Thailand Open. China Master they were down again, I think.

I notice the ones that have more potential (I think) Rexy blasts more i.e. CTF/LWW, KKK/TBH, Zakry/Fairuz. Only recently he start to critic Ong SH.
Mostly he doesn't comment much on GanTC/LimWH

Personally I don't like Rexy's strategy either but oh well, I'm not the coach

I dont think BAM will fire Rexy. The inconsistency is mostly due to players' mind set. Coaches can only give advice and coach players. Its all up to the players' intelligent and adjustment on the court. Most of the time this make a lot of difference in matches.

Just came back from watching the SF live on HK Cable TV.

First match: Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl -- the match was one-sided in the first set as Nova/Butet piled the pressure on the Danes and took it quite easily 21-16. We started to see more and more errors from both Nova and surprisingly Butet in the second set, when they trailed by many points. The strategy in the first set somehow didn't materialize as the Danes could counter everything the INA pair threw at them. The Danes were so dominant in front of the net and with their relentless attacks. They also had the height advantage over Nova/Butet. This was a repeat of their match at the All-England 2005 SF when Nova/Butet also lost to this Danes pair, despite the Danes looking clumsy at the beginning of the match :cool: This match is probably the worst match for Nova/Butet this year, equalling the early round defeat at the WC 2006 at the hand of Koo Kien Keat/Wong Pei Tty.

Third match: Taufik Hidayat vs Lee Hyun Il -- Taufik was in control of the first set from the beginning as he raced ahead from 6-4 to 15-4. Only then the Korean player started to wake up and played better. The gap was eventually only 8 points when Taufik closed the first set 21-13. The second set was much closer with Taufik still in control at 11-8. After the interval, Lee started to turn the match around. Taufik also made more mistakes and could not stop Lee from winning the second set 21-17. The third set was a reminiscent of the first set initially as Taufik raced to a 6-1 lead. However, Lee again found his composure and restricted Taufik to only a 3-pts lead at 11-8. Just when I though things will get tougher, the INA star decided to up the tempo and found his momentum again with a string of consecutive points to lead 14-8 and then 19-13. Lee got another 2 points back before Taufik sealed the match at 21-15 to reach his second consecutive Final. This is perhaps the first all-INA Final in Men's Singles for quite sometime?

I didn't watch the second match between Wang Chen and Yao Jie. The HKG player won in the only straight set match.

The WD match was a thrilling encounter as expected with both pairs exchanging lead in all the three-sets. The score was 15-15 in the rubber-set, when the MAS pair made several crucial errors, enabling the Chinese-Taipei pair to lead at 19-15. Still, the MAS pair didn't give up and they closed up again at 18-19. However, it was not enough as the home pair Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing won the rubber set 21-18.

The first two sets of the MD match were also nail-biting. The MAS pair had 3 game points at 20-18, and 22-21 but they were all saved. Likewise, the Danish pair had a game point at 21-20, which were in turn saved by the MAS pair. The MAS pair eventually took the first set 24-22. The second set was dominated by the Danish pair, mostly due to Fairuz's costly mistakes which had affected his confidence. The MAS pair only gave a fight when they trailed 14-20. They closed the gap to 19-20, only to lose it 19-21. The third set was an anti-climax and Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen won it easily 21-8.

PAW performance from the MAS pair.

WD MAS vs TPE: Both pairs at the same level skill wise. The difference is that the TPE pair played the big points slightly better. The MAS should have taken the 1st game when having game points at 20-18 and 21-20.

MD MAS vs DEN: The moment the match went into the rubber, I knew it was over for the MAS pair. After winning the 1st game 24-22, the MAS MD saved 5 game points at 14-20 in the 2nd game but failed the 6th and went down 19-21. The fired up DEN pair eventually wrapped up the rubber 21-9.
