What goes UP must go DOWN. I think LCW did a great job for the last two SS, and hopefully Msia fans will accept the result. I'm sure he did his best to win back-to-back SS but perhaps it just wasnt his days.

Anyway, I think LHI will beat Taufik and walk away with the title. sorry for being anti-climax to INA fans :p

Dont get too emotional and carried away. it's just a game... yes... our LCW lost but so did LD or Taufik or PG. Take it easy lah....

Did u watch the game? If not, how did u know the 'different' of his game as compare to JO? I think it's just one of his off days, so no big deal. Remember, if Federer or Tiger or LD doesnt always win, it's OK for LCW to lose...

Simon reaching the Japan Open and Taipei Open semis.
Sony reaching the Taipei Open semis and the World Championship finals

It looks likely it's going to be an all-INA Final in Men's Singles.
In the XD, I think Flandy/Vita will lose to Han/Lee.
In the WD, it's a tough battle between Vita/Butet vs Lee/Lee. I hope the INA pair wins.

Taufik's performance graph:
it has all been down this year :p
Until.....Japan Open (Final) and Chinese-Taipei Open (Semi-Final at least).

As for Simon, it's an uptrend for sure:
Round of 16 performance since his Runner-Up placing at the Swiss SS, and then 2 more Semi-Finals (at least) up to this week.

Furthermore even though we are far apart, there are 'referees' around to moderate the intensity before they deprecated into something untoward and unmanageable. :D

Thomas Cup simulation:

Taufik vs Lin Dan -- ok 55% 1 pt to China :p

Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan -- 50-50, with the Chinese holding a slight edge. INA MUST WIN this one!

Sony vs Bao Chunlai -- tough to predict although Bao has a slight edge. 2-1 to China

Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo vs Candra Wijaya/Alvent Yulianto -- I believe the coach will shuffle the formation, as INA die-die also must get this point! 2-2

Simon vs Chen Yu -- I think Simon can win (3-2 to INA)
Simon vs Chen Jin -- tough....Chen has the edge, but, he's on a downhill now  (3-2 to CHN)

MEN'S SINGLES
Taufik Hidayat vs Lee Hyun Il -- Taufik is fired up...no doubt abt that. Chen Hong has become his casualty twice in a row. He should beat the Korean.

Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Simon Santoso -- ditto too for Simon. I hope he can win to reach his second major Final this year. Let's make it an all-INA Final!!

MEN'S DOUBLES
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi -- yawn...another matchup between this 2 pairs...4th time this year already. Kido/Hendra to win!

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir vs Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung -- I hope the INA pair can win...if they can match Gao/Huang, they should be able to handle Lee/Lee.

MIXED DOUBLES
Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir vs Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl -- there's no stopping Nova/Butet to win their 3rd title this year.

Han Sang Hoon/Lee Hyo Jung vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa -- Flandy/Vita ALWAYS have a problem against KOR pair. They lost last week and I expect the same this week, although a win will be very much welcomed.

Hi,

I think maybe LCW very tired after beat Taufik Hidayat. LCW need more energy and more stamina to beat Taufik Hidayat.

That's way his stamina drop and can't beat Simon.

:( , i cannot accept LCW lost !!!!!! LCW what is wrong !!! Over confident AGAIN ?!! With his LCW quality of PLAY, HOW can HE LOST to Simon !!!!!!!!! Pls explain !!!!!

I am very happy INA MS is showing more and more teeth lately... :D
Simon reaching the Japan Open and Taipei Open semis.
Sony reaching the Taipei Open semis and the World Championship finals
Taufik reaching the Japan Open finals and Taipei Open semis... He is returning back to become the top player that he should be...

Waaah before long, we shall see three INA MS in the top 10 ranking! Now that's more like it! :D I have more confidence that we have a better shot at the Thomas Cup in May 2008... :D ...in Jakarta!
I'm happy for INA MS. It'll be great and exciting to have 3 INA in the top 10.But why stop there? Aim for 3 in the top 4 then INA can have 3 reps in OG08. Just work on the gym factor. When you are gifted, hard work will bring out the rewards.

Looks like Simon Santoso is gaining some momentum this year. He tends to be stopped at R16, but, these 2 weeks, he gets into the SF. Let's see if he can maintain this over the LR, given a good draw or not. He needs to show he can beat more higher-ranked players.

Recent scalps:
Boonsak Ponsana (twice)
Lee Chong Wei
Chen Yu
Lin Dan

Recent Defeats:
Taufik Hidayat (SF, Japan Open SS)
Peter Gade (R16, World Championships)
Kenneth Jonassen (R16, China Masters SS)
Boonsak Ponsana (R16, Thailand Open)
Lee Chong Wei (R16, Indonesia Open SS)
Lin Dan (R16, Singapore Open SS)
Chen Hong (R16, ABC)
Chen Jin (FINAL, Swiss Open SS)
Lin Dan (R16, All England SS)
Przemyslaw Wacha (R64, German Open)

I believe that Simon has increased alot and I can see this young guy can be the Indonesian number one player...

The most Interesting match in the final will be TH vs SDK and Nova Lilyana VS Flandy Vita....

Markis Kido hopefully can win the title and Lilyana Vita as well.

Normally, I also prefer a non-INA vs. INA in the finals. For WD, I think hoping just 2 INA can qualify: Lily-Vita and Greysia-Jo. For WS... realistically: only Maria Kristin can go... :p

All Ind finals are not bad. Remember the great AE 2001 MDF?

Both LD and CJ attended last year's CTO (How about others? CY? BCL?), so CJ's rank should drop I think.

Even for China 3 MSs in top 4 now seems a quite difficult task.

From media, LYB said that CH is still eligible to get a spot in OG as long as he deserves it...but honestly CH has not proved to be a threat and I am afraid that China prefers LD, BCL and CJ or CY instead of CH....I am really afraid that CHN will send those two (to many tournaments CJ and CY) to grab the spot from CH....as long as their ranking is above CH,,then tough for CH for OG...

it's hard to predict what's gonna happen in the next 12 months, but currently CY and CJ are 6th and 7th respectively, and neither of them have shone in recent tournaments. Taufik will probably overtake them if he wins the Taipei open (since the Chinese participated last yr and will lose points for not participating this year). So it will be a battle between Simon and Sony for an Olympic spot. exciting!

Both Sony and TH have chance to overtake CJ I think (Sony is about 8000 behind CJ and TH >9000). CJ reached SF (or QF?) last year and lost to LD.

By the way I think only 7 or 8 months are left now. Since tournaments after Apr (or May?) 2008 are not counted.

it's hard to predict what's gonna happen in the next 12 months, but currently CY and CJ are 6th and 7th respectively, and neither of them have shone in recent tournaments. Unfortunately CH is not doing well himself. Lost to major opponents like LCW, BP and TH again and again.

That said, CJ, CY or even BCL are not doing much (if any) better than him.

I agree ..of course in media LY had to say that he gave a chance to CH..lah..but deep in our heart that we know LYB prefers his charge...I will be doing same thing like LYB if I were in his shoes....:D:D of course I want my proteges to be in OG especially OG in Beijing...tough for CH...he has to win a few tournaments to keep his ranking above CY and CJ...;)

It is gona be extremely tough for Sony/Simon or even TH to overtakes the top 4 spots
1. LD - 81915
2. Bao - 64350
3. LCW - 63989
4. BCL - 60180

MeanWhile
9. Sony - 50882
10. TH - 49238
13. Simon - 39760

It seems quite unrealistic to hopes for both 3 of them qualify for OG
INA from now on, should concentrate on sending one or two players to most of the tournament to see who will actually deserved to be qualify for OG on merit..:)

Among all the Chens , CH definately have the advantages on experience over the rest...
CJ & CY are rather inconsistent & tend to be flopped when it really matters. CY has been representing CHN for several years, he even can't get close to the their "NO. 2" man Bao CL all the times..
CJ has beem "YOYO" form throughout this year.. Hard to depends on him

Who on earth would seriously think INA can have 3 in top 4? Even for China it is not easy.

One bad thing for China MSs is that they did very well at the beginning of 2007, so unless they do equally well at the beginning of 2008, their points will drop. On the contrary, major opponents, like LCW and TH, did pretty badly at the beginning of 2007 and have much better chance to increase their points.

BTW, No. 4 is CH.

Nice jobs for INA team, but dunno why, in this tournament when CHN not participating, our 2nd or 3rd players could shine, but again, we only see Taufik, Nova, Lilyana, Markis, etc. Simon & Hendra/Joko actually are not junior anymore, so, through to semis or win are also their jobs.
Still waiting for Macau Open, see how our juniors work there!

IMHO, U can't expect too much on our junior pairs.

Given the draw, its expected that Tantowi Ahmad/Yulianti will lose to Sudket/Saralee.

As for Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan, its 50-50 against fellow MAS pair. Indeed, the match was won by a razor-thin scoreline.

For Yulianti/Richi Puspita Dili, this is probably one of the first few major tourneys they are being exposed too. So, expect some jitters. That's why they lost to Goh Liu Ying/Ng Hui Lin, a fellow junior MAS pair.

As for the rest, there's nothing u can expect from them except to reach QF at most. I am mostly disappointed that Devin/Lita lost yesterday. The same goes for Rani/Endang.

This tourney is Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi's best tournament (thanks to the re-draw). Not to forget, this is also the FIRST YEAR they are being exposed to major tourneys. It happens that they had wretched lucks in the SS draws, exiting either in first or second round. Nevertheless, they had some major scalps: beating Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen and Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae.

Compare to MAS or CHN which have so many MS players, we only have those 3 players in MS elite. Wonder if one of them got injurd at next TC 08, who can replace him? I don't think we don't have omeone with such ability for competing in TC or big events like that.
So, let's not celebrate too much for our results so far.

Well, it takes time. For MAS, I thought we are now debating on who would be a good 3rd MS player? At least we have 3 "reasonable" MS. For MAS, LCW is unreplaceable. "Yoyo" Hafiz's form is worrying. WCH is also probably too "old" now? There's however the exciting Tan Chun Seang.....

Andre Kurniawan is not in Pelatnas...so, depends on whether PBSI takes him during the Thomas Cup selection.

Alamsyah Yunus and Tommy Sugiarto will be the backup players.

Hafiz Hashim second singles?? You're joking. I think the MAS think tank has to take a bolder approach. It's time to put Yoyo Hafiz to pasture and blood in new MS youngsters. Kinda throw them in at the deep end like they did with that young XD pair in the Sudirman Cup.

I would go with LCW, WCH, TCS (or another young 'un). Their doubles should be able to account for at least one point if not both.

Look at this Taipei Open, MAS field almost all the Mens Team except LCW & HH.. and seriously, no one can challenge both of them yet..
In the recent concludes KEDAH OPEN, LCW & HH is still occupying the two slots in the Final, with almost all of the MAS National Seniors & Juniors competing..
