Well, I think this is the best result for Indonesia in one tournaments, despite no China players. 3 titles are good to boost Indonesian players morale. Almost 4 actually, however get into final for Lilyana/Vita also good achievement, since Vita must played in 2 sectors today, and Lilyana in my humble opinion was not in her best performance since yesterday. She almost could not cover back court at all in match against Taiwanese girls.
Congratulation for Indonesia. Next week will face tough matches since the main opponents, China (or LYB's kingdom?) will try to sweep all titles.

I am back...not gone yet for my SPA trip :p
Hmm...they will be World No 1 for sure....let's see how they will react.
But, it was such an awesome performance from Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan! They totally dominated the proceedings from the moment it was 14-16 in the first set. Hendra was superb with his coverage of the net and even some smashes from the back. There was noticably less smashes from Kido this time, except during the beginning of the first set  Kido ended the game with one though.
But, they have really IMPROVED on the other aspects of the game....lots of trick shots, better defense and overall a real deserved winner today!

The first match was the XD between Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa and Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl. It's almost like a dejavu as the INA pair totally controlled the game until late in the first set when suddenly the Danish pair woke up. Kamilla was again impressive in front of the net, which created lots of problems for the INA pair. Flandy/Vita closed the first set 21-18. The second-set was a turn-around, like yesterday's match with the Danish pair gaining confidence and lead 11-6 at the interval. Luckily, the INA pair didn't give up and slowly narrowed the gap. The final moments were tense as the Danish pair had chances to close out the game and force a rubber, if not for Thomas Laybourn's crucial mistakes. Eventually, the INA pair was the more stable pair and they took it home 25-23. Phew...very very close indeed. So, Flandy/Vita won their second titles of the year!
I didn't really followed the second match between Wang Chen and Pi Hongyan, but, the match became interesting at the end of the third set. Even though Pi was trailing 8-14 at one stage, she didn't give up and forced deuce at 20-20. She even had match point, but, eventually she lost it 24-26.
As for the men's singles match between Taufik Hidayat and Sony Dwi Kuncoro, it was clear that Taufik gave up in the second set, after taking the first set 21-18. He was a little bit affected by an injury perhaps? There was no turning back too in the rubber-set as Sony was the more consistent man and he won it rather comfortably at 21-13. Congrats to Sony for winning his first GP title (he only won the ABC previously) and he has been pretty good lately, with a Silver at the World Championships and now his first title since 2005.

The WD match between the home favorite Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing and Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir also went to rubber-set. Both pairs were evenly matched until it was 14-14 in the first set. At this point, the home pair nicked some crucial points to establish a crucial advantage. The INA pair only managed one more point as they lost it 15-21. The second set was a strange one. The INA pair was dominant until it was 18-9. Suddenly, the home pair got a second wind as they won 8 consecutive pts to narrow it to 18-17. Luckily for the INA pair, they got back their momentum and took the final 3 pts to win the second set 21-17. As for the rubber-set, the INA pair also held the advantage at 11-8 in the interval and then 13-9. However, the home pair refused to give up as they levelled the score at 13-13. From then on, it was nervy as the scores went to 17-17. The home pair got 2 more points to lead 19-17 before the INA pair got a pt back to make it 19-18. It was not to be as the home pair won the rubber set 21-18 with the last 2 pts of the match.
It was certainly good that the home team at least won a title. However, it was clear for the viewers that Lilyana Natsir was out of sort today (and yesterday too during the XD match). She really looked lost at the back of the court and made lots of mistakes. One strategy perhaps would be to put her in front and Vita at the back? Stamina could also a concern as Lilyana probably is not used to playing both events? Ko Richard and Ko Aryono will have lots of homework to do if they are really to prepare Vita/Butet for the Olympics.

I hope Sony will following Joko Supriyanto or Hendrawan (or Eddy Kurniawan in the long long time ago). Both players were little bit late to get the titles, but with the maturity they were more stable and get more and more titles and become world No.1. We will see and follow Sony path, since so many good players at the moment, and not only come from big 'badminton country' such as China, Korea and Denmark, but also from Poland, Vietnam, etc.....
That will be interesting and tough competition.

The last match turned out to be an anti-climax. I expected a close match between the current World Champion and my favorite pair Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan with the former World Champion Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen. We only saw close battle until the score was 16-14 to the Danish pair's advantage. From the onwards, it was one way street for the INA pair. The INA pair took 6 consecutive points to make it 20-16 and then close the first set 21-17.
The second set was almost unbearable to watch as the INA pair really controlled the game from the start. They were able to vary their playing style, such as: switching Hendra to the back as he made some jumping smashes and Kido in front . There were a number of trick shots and really awesome play by both players such that the Danish pair was rendered helpless and not allowed to regroup. The INA pair won it with Kido's smash (what a way to end it) at 21-12 and this victory means that Kido/Hendra's ranking SHOULD BE NO 1 next week (unless I made some calculation error).
As I have commented before, it's clear that the INA pair DO NOT RELY too much on Kido's attacks lately, esp when facing a top pair. They now have other potent weapons in their arsenal, esp with Hendra's impressive net coverage and trick shots.
I am really eager to watch a match between Kido/Hendra with KKK/TBH as well as Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun!

INA sent their top guns, china sent their childrens:rolleyes:
Even if CHN were to send their top guns, INA would still win 3 titles. In JO, CHN's top guns got muzzled, their confidence so shaken to the core that they won't be in any shape to compete. That's why they use politics as an excuse to prevent any further embarrassment and ego erosion in CTO.They need an extra week to get their heads together and prepare for MCO.But there's no LCW, so their MS's chances should improve dramatically.Well, we'll see if INA MS can swing the title again, this time in the presence of CHN's top guns.

Great jOB!!!
After WC, MK/HS only lost to Luluk/Alvent...
They are always good in the second half of the year. In fact, since the China Masters in July, they lost only to Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun (Final) and that match to Luluk/Alvent. I suspected that defeat was pre-arranged so that Luluk/Alvent can get into the Final and eventually won a title (which they failed to do so)

Great to see INA has grabbed 3 titles here although this is not a big tourney plus without CHN participation. But, probably INA is maintaining its momentum after world-meet back on the right track toward Olympic Games.
Unfortunately, tomboy girls lost to home pair in close games. It's hard to win a title for TH now, 2 times in 2 weeks he entered finale but failed at the end. Bad fortune?
Looking forward for next Thomas Cup, seems INA is the most potential threat to disrupt CHN dominance in this sport...

Hi Everyone!
I didnt read all the remarks on the final, only the last few.
First, I would like to congratulate Kido and Setiawan for playing outstanding today. As some of you said, they dominated from 14-16 in favour of us and through out the match. I agree they have improved a lot.
Everything seemed to go their way and it was a bit frustrating to be on the other side of the net. I think they hit the net 7-8 times (correct me if I´m wrong). Even the rallies where we did everything right they won.
You know some might consider it lucky for them to hit the net so many times in one match. I tend to look at it differently. The ones that seek the luck will also get the most luck, but it takes a lot of confidence in your game to do that. That´s why it was brilliance and not luck that won them the match. I tried to make a joke about it in the game by placing the shuttle on the net and just letting it drop. I hope that was not too arrogant, but as I said before it was very frustrating to be at the other side, lol.
Thank you for your support and I´m looking forward to the upcoming tournaments with renewed confidence after these two tournaments.

We all enjoyed your performances over the fortnight....u and Lars have indeed shown yet again that you are still one of the most feared men's doubles pair in the World!
Good luck for your defense of the Denmark Open SS in your home tourney. I think DEN pairs always have good fortunes for their home events. You and Lars have won the Denmark Open several times (2004 beating the then still novice Kido/Hendra and last year too).

Actually, even at the INA club levels today, INA players particularly pay attention to the net-play aspect... Many INA coaches at the club level have the opinion that this aspect should be our 'competitive advantage' over the Koreans, Chinese, and Denmark.... Many INA clubs insist that their players spend extra hours on the net game... ;)
Another aspect is the deceptive shots... INA's forte for a loonnngg time in the 1970s and 1980s, that is another aspect that many INA coaches are paying attention to... ;) Iie Sumirat and Eddy Hartono are classic examples of INA's "beautiful badminton"...

Agree......these two aspects strike me the most when I watched the match just now. How many of those pts actually come from Kido's smashes today? I think less than 10-15  Whereas, JR himself has already commented that the INA pair's net play was really dominant!

Other things that led to INA getting back on the right track again are due to:
'somewhat' better management [Richard Mainaky leading both XD and WD, better funding as arranged by Pak Sutiyoso, moved Pak Ferial to different a assignment, etc.].
Definitely better and more commited coaches [fired Joko Suprianto, let Hendrawan concentrate on the top MS, moved the troublesome Herry IP to lesser assignments, hired Sigit Pamungkas for the top MD, etc.]...

Herry IP was successful as the coach of many top INA MD pairs in the past, but later, his negative side [verbally abusive] became an issue with many pairs. In particular, Markis Kido had a huge distaste for Herry... :o I forgot about the details of their rift...

Kido and Hendra really improved a lot I think. They have becoming a joy to watch. If they can keep this form, they will humiliate both CY/FHF and KKK/TBH in the near future, if they met.

I don't think INA has to do a 'CHN' to decide match. Playing compatriots is different. l/a would be familiar with m/h's game and there's no way hendra can play deceptive shots cos l/a would be aware of it. Pls give l/a some credit. Luluk is 28 this year, so, its understable that he runs out of gas easily :D
Well, I am pleased that Luluk/Alvent have begun to show their class again. Beating KKK/TBH and Kido/Hendra in a single week are some feat  I hope they can rediscover their form of 2004 and perhaps win a title (no matter what tournament that is).

i didn't say you asked a dumb question or you're idiot.. it's my mistake to choose wrong pic.. it should be "search before you post" and if you can't still find the result ,please use another keyword :D :)
don't hesitate to ask another question :D :D
