it looks like chen jin is just using a thin layer of synthetic grip...
taufik has his grip almost all the way up. just short of the cone. he can still raise his hand on the grip a fair way, unlike lin dan, who's grip barely allows him to move his hand from the bottom of the handle.

And Korea as well. Good first game but India's no.1 singles player is still improving. Many small differences is all areas will produce big changes on court. On the adjacent court was a Chinese ladies singles game. You can compare the differences quite easily.

Agree.Players should have a sense of choosing colours that make them look better, esp. if they reach semi finals onwards.Attire is very important in attaching prestige to a sport.It's probably a key reason why badminton does not attract the commercial glitter it rightly deserves.Attire makes a big difference to how good they look on TV.Colour is the first criterion,then design.
Yonex colours and design are generally awful,maybe because they have a monopoly in badminton.When you look at tennis wear, Yonex gear probably look the worst in colours and design.Yonex should really do some research on TV colours and design.

It is one of the first things that you teach juniors in single grip, grip low. If you been coached in your junior day, almost every coach will tell you to grip low. That is why you will notice almost all single players have this low grip not only Lin Dan. May be he is lower than average ?
Reason for that is to give you more power (moment is force X distant) and stipper angle, not because your reach but the way it pivot on your palm. Try it during your practice and you will fine the different.
