Dear Narnia,
Rexy is a very strict coach as he wants his charge to have the positive attitude on the game and not too happy when succeed as every opponent waited to defeat them. In one of the incident, he did not instruct the players during training but instead become their sparring partner and pass the job to his assistant. I think that this make the players realized that they need to overcome their own downfall.

like everybody said before, players will have peak and low form. Certainly Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan, Jae Sung Jung/Yong Dae Lee and Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng are not at their peak after WC.
- Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan peak at the right time to win WC.
- Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng peak during Singapore Open and start fall down during WC, so I think it will be a while for them to win another tournament.
- Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong unfortunately peak during AE but low during WC.but look like they are on the way to come back, at Macau, I don't think they are at their peak like in AE, be play better and less mistake, speed a bit catch up.
- Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah, up and down all the time, they usually perform well if people think they cannot win.
too bad MAS players always can do this kind of good result duing not important tournaments, always got mentality problem duing important tournaments.

Give some credit to Mr Pang. He was the one who guided CTF/LWW and KKK/TBH to the final tomorrow. Why only give credit to Mr Rexy? This is really unfair. BTW for your info, CTF/LWW is holding a 6:3 head to head record against CY/FHF.

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/koo-tan-01-mas-ks-malaysiaopen2007.jpgAfter months of disappointing their fans and making the news with various stories of dissent within the ranks, Malaysia's top two pairs, Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong and Choong Tan Fook / Lee Wan Wah are back! And they have proven it in the most convincing fashion: by beating the 2006 and 2005 World Champions respectively, and in straight games, no less!
By Don Hearn; Photos: Badmintonphoto (Archives)
All England Champions Koo/Tan controlled their match against Kido/Setiawan from start to finish. They played suberb defense, seeming to have no fear of the World Champions' normally devastating attacks. The Indonesians made an unsuccessful, late rally in the first game but the second was over before it began and Koo/Tan took it home 21-18, 21-11.
Choong/Lee had a little more trouble with last year's world champions but the veterans showed mental toughness befitting their age and refused to crack under the pressure, finishing the match 22-20, 21-18. The Asian Champions are entering their first final in five months and are hungry for their second tournament win of the year.
In the remaining four events, Chinese players are the clear favourites. Chen Jin squeaked out a 21-13, 16-21, 24-22 win over Wong Choong Hann of Malaysia. He will face Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia, who won in straight games but by a narrower margin over Park Sung-hwan of Korea, 25-23, 21-19. Taufik is in his third final in a row but neither man has won a tournament in the last 6 months.
Lee Hyo-jung of Korea and Cheng Wen Hsing of Chinese Taipei both failed in their bids to enter the finals in two events. Lee and Han Sang-hoon fell apart late in the deciding game, giving away an embarassing 8 straight points to bestow the victory upon Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen. The Chinese will play Cheng and partner Fang Chieh Min, who beat their compatriots Chen/Chou.
Lee's and Cheng's fortunes were opposite in the women's doubles, however. Lee and partner Lee Kyung-won took care of Jiang/Li of Singapore without much trouble while Cheng/Chien's losing streak against the top Chinese pairs continued unabated as Gao Ling and Huang Sui scored a 14th straight victory to book their spot in the finals against the Koreans. Lee/Lee, for their part, have only beaten Gao/Huang once in their career, at last year's Chinese Taipei Open while the Chinese pair have had the upper hand 5 times
There weren't many fireworks in the women's singles event. Adriyanti Firdasari gave Jun Jae-youn a run for her money in their first game but fell apart in the second to give Jun the win 23-21, 21-10. Lu Lan couldn't cope with her compatriot Xie Xingfang and Xie won 21-16, 21-12. Jun, who had a relatively easy road to the final, hasn't won this big a tournament in well over two years. She may take heart in the fact that Xie is the only one of the top Chinese women whom she has ever beaten; however, those two wins happened many years ago, before Jun injured her knee and Xie became virtually unbeatable by all but Zhang Ning. Xie has beaten Jun 4 times since, most recently a thorough trouncing in the Japan Open semi-finals.

Finally reached home after the Macau trip.
As expected, Kido/Hendra indeed lost to KKK/TBH in an anti-climax match  It was clear that the INA pair could not overcome the mental barrier of having not won against the MAS pair and this affected their style from the start of the first set. As with previous matches against KKK/TBH, Kido/Hendra again let them establish a healthy lead which was difficult to overturn and too many times they were let down by their own unforced errors
The second set was even more difficult to watch and it reminded me of the second set of the Chinese-Taipei Open Final, only this time, Kido/Hendra's role was reversed...they were at the receiving ends. Lots of uncharacteristic errors and very poor performance from Markis Kido. He looked tense from the start and that affected the INA pair's rhtym. The MAS pair wrapped up the second set without even breaking a sweat
Indeed, this is probably Kido/Hendra's WORST performance against a non-INA pair for quite a while. Sigit Pamungkas immediately gave a prep talk after the match and he gave a very detailed analysis of the match. The INA pair simply did not appear confident of winning the match and could not execute their plan. The key thing is the next time these 2 pairs meet again, come to the court with a NOTHING TO LOSE attitude. Anyway, they are already the WORLD CHAMPION!
So, congrats to the MAS camp for a brilliant performance in the Men's Doubles today!

Of course! Better that our neighbours win rather than CHN... ;) Hey, after all, we are all ASEAN people... Last time in the Indonesian Open, all the Indonesians were cheering for Lee Chong Wei too. LCW said he felt at home in Jakarta... :p [Well that is until next year if he faces Taufik/Sony/Simon/Andre/Tommy... then the crowd will start shouting 'Ganyang Malaysia!' again]

There are always some sour talks from the losing fans. Too bad. A loss is a loss and a win is a win whether it is 7-star tourneys or "kacang putih" tourneys. Player(s) can lose the match but can never lose the lesson.
Some die-hard fans have already prepared the excuse for the loss even before the match started.
A smart fan should always accept the truth and take it gentlemanly whether losing or winning. Sour talks are so not gentlemenly, so to speak.

INA has such a long badminton tradition that we have seen up-and-down cycles so many times... that we are hardened and mature about badminton eventualities... I remember earlier in 1992, INA lost the Thomas Cup finals to MAS... yet, a few months later in the Olympics, INA got 2 golds, 2 silvers, etc. MAS didn't get any of the big prizes... This year, INA only won 1 Superseries title in the first 6 months, but then came up with 2 World Champions. This are the realities of badminton... We are used to it... :)
We will not back down from supporting our players no matter what! [...mmm, except if Taufik gets beaten 4-21, 3-21 by a 3rd-tier player, then most probably we become furious! :p :D]
It's better to learn from mistakes now and hope Kido/Hendra will be stronger after this painful lesson and show us they can win the Gold next year!
Yeah, next year's Olympics is going to be sooo cool! By that time all the top pairs and players would have competed against each other so many times in the various Superseries and Gold GP events that they can remember their opponents strength and weaknesses in their sleep... :p
Don't count out Luluk-Alven yet... They are still world #8... and in any given day, they can beat the top pairs as well... [hint: 2007 Japan Open win agains KKK-TBH]

Anyway, I wrote it for the fun of it, not intended to dis-credit Gold Series, if Taufik get offended, please apologize for me.(I already assume Taufik win just to ease the tension between me and BadMania :D)

INA supporters has less to worry about Taufik's performance now, since he had a child, his performance was very consistent and the hunger is back. I'm not counting the World Championships, of course, maybe that time Taufik is just adapting to fatherhood and didn't have enough rest, helping to change diapers and making baby milk in the middle of the night ...... :D Simon is improving and Sony just needs to keep away from injury.
Same goes for INA MD/XD/WD, they are back among the top. Though to be frank, I expected better from Kido/Setiawan yesterday, surely even with lack of form they can at least make proper returns of serve and Kido's smashes should not be too far off target.
This Macao Open is heartwarming for MAS supporters, we got our top two MD battling for the title and WCH's brave effort through injury was very inspiring. Despite his age, WCH is about the only MAS player bar LCW that can be competitive against the world's top guns. Which is both good and bad, good to see an old warhorse beating the crap out of younger opponents, bad that MAS own youngsters haven't even reached his level, much less support LCW.

As I wrote earlier before anyone jumping to the conclusion that we INA fans didn't accept the loss. I REITERATE: KKK/TBH were simply the better pair yesterday. Sigit Pamungkas also analyzed the match well when he said that the quality of serves and balls of the MAS pair were simply more superior! The INA pair simply had no answer to them
I was disappointed that Kido/Hendra DID NOT GIVE their true performance yesterday, but, that is badminton...u win some, u lose some. I did congratulate MAS fans as both their doubles pairs have done well, didn't I? I give credit when its due.

Badmania, mind posting a review on the match btw CTF/LWW vs Cai/Fu?
Sounds like a good match, its a pity we cant watch it :(

In Malaysia, "Kachang Puteh" mean something insignificant and easy to obtain ... I may be wrong since I left Malaysia for almost 25 years ago, my Bahasa is rusty :D
Anyway, I wrote it for the fun of it, not intended to dis-credit Gold Series, if Taufik get offended, please apologize for me.(I already assume Taufik win just to ease the tension between me and BadMania :D)
Dude, I didn't even know there's a tension among us

So glad I make so many "friends"(subject to individual interpretation) in this chat room :D Keep up the good work on your pre and post games analysis, I truly enjoy reading them.
I think there's doubt on Markis's mind each time when he plays against KKK/TBH for whatever reason.
I agree. I don't know why too...he looked tense and probably fearful of the MAS pair? Remember, they haven't won against KKK/TBH  I look forward to these pairs' next meeting and I hope it won't be an-anticlimax match again

To contrast the match between Koo/Tan and Kido/Setiawan, I have not seen a more lopsided battle between two top pairs in a long time. I didn't see the Koo/Tan whitewash against Cai/Fu at the Sudirman Cup, they were probably playing just as badly then. :D
Previous top pairs in the past 40 years were almost always consistent, battles between two of top pairs were never as one-sided. OK, so I missed the good old days when battles were fought over almost 2 hours ......
Somehow the new scoring system, the breakneck speed of MD play, and participation in a number of tournaments back-to-back has impacted all current top pairs' consistency at one point or another. And this despite the average game taking only 20-40 minutes to complete.
Taking the INA coach's assesment, the quality of service is one coaching area that is under constant improvement. As they say, the rally is won mostly by the quality of the 1st 3 shots.

i think the best thing to do is revert the doubles game back to the old scoring system while leaving the singles at the new - games finish too quickly nowadays...

To all mAS fans....it is very good news that MAS MD got all Final.
Please do not overjoy as MAS TEAM said to me that MAS MD needs to prove to win major tournaments as MAS has more losing rate than winning rate.
Please do not bash our INA MDs...this is not respectful as we, INA fans cheer for MAS MD...there is always win and lose....I get annoyed to see some comments like thrashing Kido/Setiawan, etc as one day INA MD will do same thing also....
Even all MAS and INA players are getting along well.....
Again...do not celebrate like MAS MD has won major championships...CY/FHF as well as other INA MD will be back.....

The match quality of MDs is better in the old days. Most of the matches r finished under 30mins nowadays. Blame the new scoring system.
Base on what you said then we should basically do nothing :D:D We are all human and have feeling of joy and sadness so expression after the defeat or celebration after the triumph is still within the norm. Sure we should not trash and disrespect players and use all those unnecessary "F" words but nothing wrong to express disappointment and frustration thru individual view.
Malaysian fan has always been accused of very critical to their players, I for one don't quite agree with that. I love Malaysia players so when they fail to deliver then I get frustrated and express my view about it, what is so wrong about that? If this chat room is going to limit to only positive feedback then it loses its charm.
We throw stones at one another during the tournament but always hug and love again after the storm, I prefer that kind of feeling, more natural than suppressive.
Well, as usual, only my thought and hope doesn't raise the temperature of this chat room again. Now, about that "kachang puteh" .... :D:D:D:D
Cool and peace !!

I have to admit that even though this Macau Open is not even a Superseries. In the MD category it is no 'kacang putih' laaah.... The top 4 pairs were all there... :p

For MS it may be kacang putih as LD and LCW are absent but not that kacang putih as Taufik is playing. However, I don't think it is kacang putih for the MD as the top pairs are participating.

Hau-ge, I was so touched to know that the whole INA camp was cheering for CTF/LWW against FHF/CY. Thanks for the support. I believe that the MAS camp would have done the same when INA is playing against CHN.
But, what I don't like is that some INA fans finding excuses for the loss even before the match and make some self-comforting talk by bringing out some history and downgrading others.
After their ungentleman behaviors being pointed out, then they started to "clarify". I call it "gali lobang tutup lobang".

I did not suggest that you should not do anything,..it is okay to cheer and say good things about your players when they win....but no one has a right to thrash the opponents, saying here and there....sometimes..certain players are off at that day...I do not think it is fair to say bad things about kido/handra....thats all...

Huang, who in the Msian team you talked to? Assistant coach Pang? KKK/TBH, CTF/LWW?
I'm not super overjoyed, just glad they broke the drought barrier so the critics will get off their backs(meaning leave whole MD team in peace ) for a while.

actually many players are friendly toward each other....even Kido's lost, still joking around with KKK or TBH...even Mas Coach joked with Kido....
WCH is very friendly beside ( as far as I know and I saw), Xie ( CHINESE XD guy),mostl;y taiwanese players are very nice..as well as Korean women players, joking around and taking pics with KKK and Tan Foo Keong...I can see many Korean players love KKK....I can see that CHN team did not make too many contacts toward other players....Lu Lan gets along with some MAS as wll as Taiwanese....
yeah... even some of them called each other "anak Haram" among the Msian and Indo players. I would not say who to who.. but it shows how close these guys are. On court they battle for their country and for themselves.. off court they enjoy and eat with each other.
