looks like there are some interesting 1st round matches... the 2 Hashim brothers will face off against each other while wong choong hann will vs peter gade....looks like lee chong wei 2nd round opponent should be most likely boonsak ponsana and should set up a possible QF clash against Sony....taufik hidayat 2nd round opponent should be bao chun lai... lin dan will have a possible QF show down with either PG or WCH....
while in the WD, CHIN/WONG will have a tough 1st round matches...they will meet 1st seed ZYW/WYL of china.....
here are the draws....

In general, tough draw for Team Pelatnas.

XD
No Zheng Bo/Gao Ling means that Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir and Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa occupy the top two seeds.

However, the draw is not kind as Nova/Butet will face Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam in the first round  Flandy/Vita has a better draw and they face a tough test only in the QF, possibly against He Hanbin/Yu Yang.

Meanwhile, Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita face a qualifier in their first SS match and should face Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg in the second round.

MD is also a tough one
All the INA MD (including Pelatnas, Djarum and INA-born pairs ) are in the top half  Gila man. The top seed Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan faces a tricky match against the Danish pair Simon Mollyhus/Anders Kristensen. If they win, they will should face Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo next.

Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto also has a tough match against the Hong-Kong pair Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo. If they win, they will face the Djarum pair of Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki. Rian/Yoke should beat a qualifier in the first round. It's likely that Kido/Hendra and either Luluk/Alvent or Rian/Yoke will meet one another for a place in the Semi-Final.

The next quarter will see Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi pitted against a European pair in Roman Spitko/Michael Fuchs. They always have problems beating Europeans  If they win, they have the unenviable task of beating Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong. Meanwhile, Koo/Tan have to beat Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Hendra Wijaya first. Remember that Hendri/Hendra beat Choong/Lee in the Japan Open SS

If it goes according to seedings, then its likely that Kido/Hendra will face KKK/TBH again in the Semi-Final. But, anything can always happen

Yet another atrocious draw for WD:
Jo Novita/Greysia Polii vs Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen in the first round.
The winner will face Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir in the second round.
Also, Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nursugianti vs Gao Ling/Huang Sui....geez....they may as well withdraw

As for WS, expect them to last till the second round only:
Adriyanti Firdasari vs Kaori Mori -- might have a chance, but if she wins, she will face Zheng Ning.

Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Yip Pui Yin -- not a good draw

In the MS, it will be very good if INA were to have at least 1 in the QF. Sony Dwi Kuncoro has the kindest draw, facing Chan Yan Kit in the first round and possibly Park Sung Hwan for a place in the last 8 (and likely against Lee Chong Wei). Taufik Hidayat should beat Kendrick Lee in the first round but, Bao Chunlai should be awaiting them next. Simon Santoso also faces a tricky tie against Ng Wei, with the winner entertaining either Peter Gade of Wong Choong Hann next.

MD

Choong/Lee are slated to meet their nemesis, Lundgaard/Eriksen if both pairs qualify for q-finals, the winner of which is expected to play Cai/Fu. A big problem for them, Lundgaard/Eriksen had always had the psychological advantage. On the other side of the draw, I don't expect Cai/Fu to have trouble disposing of the Koreans or Japanese.

The draw is kinder for Koo/Tan, but even then, they have to be careful of the Danish threat. They should pass through the 1st 2 matches unscathed. But both Boe/Mogensen and Rasmussen/Paaske have caused MAS pairs a lot of grief.

A bit of bad draw for top 2 INA pairs to possibly meet each other in q-finals, but on the other hand, if both make it, at least one INA representation is guaranteed for semis.

XD

It's Indonesia's for the taking, and in fact I would consider it a huge failure if they don't. Their strongest challenge will be the inconsistent English pairs (for Nova/Lilyana) and Denmark's Juhl/Laybourn and China's Xie/Zhang (for Flandy/Vita)

WD

Not so promising results and dropping out of top 8 rank has cost Wong/Chin dearly. Now they have to battle the World No 1. Too bad but life is tough. Coach Soon Kit will just have to deal with it.

Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen are expected to battle Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir in 2nd round. A mouth watering clash which would indicate to us how far Indonesian WD is progressing against China's best pair.

Frankly, I do not see any other credible threat to China other than this INA pair. Sure, TPE, KOR and JPN pairs have stretched or beaten some Chinese pairs, but only Vita/Lilyana ever won tournaments where all top Chinese pairs bar YW/ZJW were competing.

MS

At the top half of the draw, Lin Dan is expected to play either Gade or WCH for a place in semis, which he should win comfortably. Although WCH did well in Macao, Gade has the advantage over him.

Meanwhile, Chen Yu is expected to play Chen Hong or Roslin for the other place. My money is on Chen Hong (assuming no fishy walkovers). Mr Yo Yo Hafiz gets to keep his title with an expected 1st round exit.

In the bottom half, LCW should meet Sony or Park for a semis slot, but has to be careful with Boonsak in round 2.

I am confident that if he maintains his form, Taufik will pass the q-final stage and set up a grudge match against Chen Jin. Bao is vulnerable and could possibly be upstaged even in round 1.

WS

WMC has to play Jiang Yanjiao, which is not necessarily a bad thing, she had beaten Jiang before. But even if she wins, the World Champion (whom she had never beaten) will be waiting. WMC's style of play and footwork limitations are vulnerable against tall opponents.

As usual, it looks like the HK brigade and Pi Hongyan will be the only ones capable of causing a ripple in Chinese ranks.

http://www.thestar.com.my/archives/2007/10/10/sports/71chong.jpg PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's top singles player Lee Chong Wei (pic) faces an uphill task in his bid to win the Danish Open title for the second time after 2005.
Chong Wei is the second seed and have formidable opponents in his half of the draw in the tournament scheduled for Oct 23-28.
They are Indonesians Taufik Hidayat and Sony Dwi Kuncoro and Chinese Chen Jin and Bao Chunlai.
Chong Wei will open his campaign in the ninth leg of the Super Series against a qualifier and should meet Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the next round. He has Sony in the same quarter.
Chong Wei performed impressively to win the Japan Open last month but in the next tournament, the Taiwan Open, he was eliminated by Indonesian Simon Santoso in the quarter-finals. He did not play in the Macau Open last week.
The unseeded Taufik, who was the runner-up in Japan, Taiwan and Macau, is tipped to play against the fourth seeded Chunlai in the quarter-finals.
Mohd Hafiz Hashim has a first-round match against his elder brother, Roslin.
Macau Open semi-finalist Wong Choong Hann has the toughest first-round match among the Malaysian shuttlers.
He will be up against local favourite Peter-Gade Christensen and in the same quarter as the top seeded Chinese Lin Dan.
Yeoh Kay Bin also has a stiff opening test against Denmark's number two Kenneth Jonassen.
The top Malaysian doubles pair of Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong have a fairly good draw.
They are expected to play against world champions and top seeds Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan in the semi-finals and are comfortable in the fact that they were winners in all four previous encounters – the latest was a straight-game victory in the semi-finals of the Macau Open.
The other Malaysian pair, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah, have in their quarter Danish veterans Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Hansen. China's Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun are the second seeds.

Wednesday, 10 October 2007 http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-Gade.jpgPeter Gade will not only face long time friend Wong Choong Hann in the first round of his home event, but the Dane has been set to meet Lin Dan as early as the quarter-finals according to the draws, which were released today by the BWF.

By Tarek Hafi, Raphael Sachetat. Photo (archive) : Badmintonphoto.com

If Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Chen Yu, the top three seeds, will play qualifying players in the first rounds, Peter Gade (picture) will have to heat up really quickly to make it to the second round. He faces long-time friend Wong Choong Hann of Malaysia, whom he has beaten on most occasions, but with the form the latter’s has been showing recently, anything is possible. Moreover Gade may have the toughest draw for his home ground tournament, and is likely to have on his road to the quarter-finals, the new serial top seed killer Simon Santoso, followed by world number one and world champion Lin Dan.

Fourth Seed Bao Chunlai will have the chance to take revenge for his Japan Open first-round defeat as he's drawn to meet Ronald Susilo of Singapore. The latter seems to be in great shape recently and Bao Chunlai's recent poor form won't help him to get over this task.

Malaysia's favorite brothers Roslin Hashim and Hafiz Hashim are also drawn to meet in the very first round of the event for their fourth meeting, and the winner is most likely to meet fifth seed Chen Hong in the second round. This fratricidal battle shows how Super Series draws treat the crowd and viewers to many interesting matches from the first round onwards, and even in the qualifiers ...

The entries include 21 of the 22 best players in the world, with only Dicky Palyama from the Netherlands, ranked 21th in the world, missing. The Dutch has decided to play only in his home event the week prior to that.

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-KooTan.jpgThe men's doubles sector suffers from an important absence as the legendary pair, Tony Gunawan and Candra Wijaya, didn't enter the draw, giving the Danish pair Jonas Rasmussen and Lars Paaske a chance to be seeded and to avoid top players early during their home event. However the draw sets them up against their compatriots Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, who is back from a severe foot injury.

All top seeds should have few problems reaching the second round, which will probably show some fierce battles, with the current world champions Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan likely to meet dangerous Chinese pair Xie Zhongbo and Guo Zhendong. The Indonesian duo should then face their compatriots Luluk Hadiyanto and Alvent Yulianto in the quarter-final.

Recent Macau Open winners Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong (photo) from Malaysia, back on form, have a good chance of meeting rising Indonesian pair Joko Riyadi and Hendra Aprida Gunawan. Same goes for the new sensation from Japan, Shuichi Sakamoto and Shintaro Ikeda, who will be given the chance to avenge their defeat in the semi-final of the World Championships when they take on Korea's top pair Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae sung in the second round.

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-Ras.jpgIn the women's singles event, Tine Rasmussen (photo) will be able to repeat her fantastic run at the Japan open, which ended in a magical win after she defeated four Chinese players in a row! In Odense, Tine is drawn to meet one of her best friends off courts Anu Nieminen from Finland, and should face, in the second round, former Chinese player, Xu Huaiwen, now playing for Germany with a possible clash in quarter-final against the in-form player Zhu Lin, recently crowned World Champion.

Japan's cutest player, Eriko Hirose, is back after many months spent recovering from injury. She will face Bulgaria's top player, Petya Nedeltcheva, who is also coming back from injury but whe won her home event easily last week. A possible second round against last week's Macau Open semi-finalist Lu Lan from China is on the card for the winner. Zhang Ning and Xie Xingfang should reach the quarter-final stage without any problems.

Unfortunately for all spectators, they won't have the privilege of watching Gao Ling and Zheng Bo as they're not appearing in the mixed doubles draw. Therefore the Indonesian pair Nova Widianto and Lilyana Natsir are the favourites to win the title in Odense. However, they're drawn to meet, Thailand's best pair Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungtongkham, with the latter on a comeback from a back injury. The Thai pair have been ranked in the top five all year and could upset the world number one and world champions as early as the very first round.

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-Juhl-Lay.jpgHometown favourites and fifth seeds Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Thomas Laybourn (photo) should face some problems in the quarter-final with a possible encounter against the Chinese pair Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen although they must first be ready for their the first round matchup against Danish pair Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Britta Andersen, who can possibly play the role of the troublemakers as they have in the past.

The Denmark Open is the second tournament of a European Tour composed of one Grand Prix and two Super Series events. The European tour will end up with the French Open.

Looking at the draw:

The champions are as follows:

MS: TH
MD: MK/Hendra
MXD= Vita/Flandy
WD= Vita/Natsir...

very obvious

MS: Taufik Hidayat(100%)
WS: Adriyanti Firdasari
MD: Markis/Hendra

MX:Vita Marissa/Flandy Limpele
How abt:
MS: Lin Dan

NOPE it should be :

MS = LEE CHONG WEI
MD = KOO KIEN KEAT - TAN BONG HEONG
MXD = CANCELLED
WD = WONG PEI TY - CHIN EN HUI
What about this?
MS: Peter Gade
WS: Tine Rasmussen

Ok, let's have fun,

Yes, it is interesting...
But I doubt she will be able to repeat her fantastic run at the Japan open.
That time was her miracle's performance. Very very hard to repeat it again, even though she will be playing in her homeground.

Eye- catching MD first round matches:

1. XZB/GZD Vs Sudket/Phattapol
- This is the time for Thai Pair to shine in SS, the CHN will find it hard to breakthrough ...

2. MK/HS vs Simon/Andres
- Don't be surprised if the host pair can shoot down the World Champs. Dannish MD are on very high spirits after the success of JR/LP in Asia..

3. KKK/TBH vs Hendra/Wijaya.
- Very tough one for the MCO champs.. The Singaporean have improved alots..

The rest of MD matches should be one sided affair...

Haha, thanks for the correction.
I am just not good enough in english, if you do a search in all of my posts you will find something to be corrected (including this post, I think :D).
Anyway, I hope you can still understand my poor english :(

It takes me several minutes just to make ONE post/reply, you know?
That's why I seldom make a post/reply here :(

As for Hau-Ge (for example), he needs only a few months (3 months?) to make 4000 posts, and for me, it might take 3 centuries :D

Koreans like to mix-up their MD and XD a lot. Frankly speaking, I don't think it would help them much in the qualification to Olympics, maybe they're just trying to confuse opponents.

Although I agree WCH and Hafiz are 'suspects', I think they are now working hard enough to be considered possibilities. WCH has been thereabouts and building up his game - he is ready to step up. Hafiz, as we know him, has been shamed and want to make good -- although I would be still be cautious in predicting a win for him.

But on the two making it in their matches, it is a fair call nevertheless.

In the past 5 DO tourneys, in MS department:

Chen Hong won the title TWO times
Lin Dan won the title TWO times, too
Lee Chong Wei won the title ONE time.

Do you think one of them will win the title again?
Can Lin Dan make it THREE?
Can Lee Chong Wei make it TWO?
(Sorry for Chen Hong, I think his chance to make it THREE is just too small)
or Can Taufik Hidayat will win the title for the first time? (If he has not ever won it before...)

I don't know who was the winner in DO before 2002...
Has Peter Gade ever won DO before? (I think he has)
And Kenneth Jonassen? has he won it before?
If they really have, I think they have the chances to repeat it (again).

Oh, with his last performance in MO, Chen Jin might get the title, too. And I don't think Bao Chunlai should be discounted...

What do you think, guys?
