Here's my opinion for the two strongest contingent for winning the 2007 Denmark Open:

Mens Singles: Lin Dan /Bao Chunlai
Womens Singles: Xie Xienfang/ Zhou Mi
Mixed Doubles: Nova/ Butet / Flandy/ Vita
Womens Doubles: Zhang / Yang / Gao/ Huang
Mens Doubles: Koo Kien Kiet/ Tan Boon Hong/ Cai / Fu Hai Fang

How bout u guys? any comments

i think there's no way you can discount TH or LCW for MS, given their current performances. also, because it's PG's home tournament, he's got to start as one of the favourites. BCL has had a tough time lately, i'm not sure he's up for it just yet.

KKK/TBH are looking good again, after a long string of poor performances, hopefully they can do the business. CY/FHF and MK/HS are still the most consistent pairs aound at the moment, so i'm going to be predictable and say the winner will be between these 3.

is GL/ZB playing in the XD? if they are, i would never bet against them.

for me, WD and WS are potentially all CHN affairs again, will tine pull out another good showing at home? possibly ....

You have to say LCW because he is training so hard it is coming out of his skin.

IO was good and JO was sweet revenge but the Denmark Open would be heavenly.

KKK-TBH begs contradiction frequently but if I have my last penny I would have no other thoughts then a 'straight out' win bet on the pair. Go fellas !

Something to add......in MD section...there is a possibility that LP/JR will perform very well in their home ground...they were good in Japan Open..early October..so be aware of this pair...from Den..they may face KKK/TBH in QF....its going to be a tough match for KKK/TBH...

MY prediction is
MS - Lin Dan as he dont have to face TH and LCW before Final.
MD - between CY/FHF or KKK/TBH ...CY/FHF is about to rebounce from theirs low form lately.
WS - All the women singles from Chn are at their low form now...so Tine Rusmusen will win with home ground advantage.
WD - YW/ZJW is on fire....for sure to grab the title....only obstacle maybe from GL/HS.
XD - it will be the INA ...Nova/Butet.

MS - Lin Dan better not discount Gade, this is his home .... TH or LCW will await at the final.
MD - CY/FHF didn't actually have a drop in form, both their recent losses to Choong/Lee were close, and the same goes to their loss against Rasmussen/Paaske at JO. Looking forward to seeing all top 3 pairs in peak form. World No 1 ranking at stake.
WS - Uphill task for Tine even with home ground advantage, LYB will whip his girls into shape and get revenge.
WD - Agree with your prediction, still, there is this small matter, of Marissa/Natsir in round 2.
XD - Agree wholeheartedly, INA XD had better not disappoint their fans, and me ......

I wonder how many of you actually have the guts to put real money on your own prediction... without actually seeing the players' conditions and form entering the tournament, all these so-called "predictions" are more like "who you like to see to win". At least horse-racing gamblers do some "homework" before making their own "predictions".:eek:

BTW... if I don't have to bet money on this... then here is my irresponsible prediction:

Wacha will defeat Boonsak in 1st round, then defeat LCW in straight set with both sets LCW earning less than 11 points/each, then Wacha went on winning the title (includes beating Lin Dan in the final) without losing a single set or getting to a deuce.:D

How about this then? In order to garner REAL predictions instead of each fan base simply blurting out names of their countrymen/women, I am willing to GIVE 5,000 of my PAW points to someone who gets ALL 5 predictions correct. so LD will face big problem against PG..
maybe not enough to win, but enough to slow him down..
i will like to see LCW win the title again by beating TH & LD in a row..

women doubles should be in CHN pocket,maybe GL/HS will get it this time..

the hard one to predict is MD and WS...

Just because KKK/TBH won the last tournament doesn't mean they will win on the next tournament. It has been proven time and over time not only with MAS players but also with other players. It is difficult to do that even for LD. And for MAS to win 3 titles? Not a chance.

Personally, I believe LD, TH, LCW have the same chance of winning this tourney. The same goes for KKK/TBH, Cai/Fu, and MK/HS. China has more chance on the rest of the titles, with INA has a slight advantage on XD. But upsets might happen and the tourney could take a totally different turn. Who ever predicted Tine R. would win JO?

I see so many predictions on MAS, but that's just because there are more people from MAS here. As usual, they are the most talkative and loudest fans. :o But when their players loose, they are the quietest ones. :o:) I often admire China. They have the best players and more than 1 billions people, but they are the quietest. ;)

Majority of the BCers are from MAS and those who are the most "talkative" and "loudest" mostly are teenagers. On the other hand, CHN is considered a minority in this forum, so they are the "quietest".:rolleyes:

I don't think there are less Chinese citizens (either in China or living abroad) on this forum than the Malaysians. They are probably just guests without any posts. Why? Many reasons. Maybe they are just being humble, or shy or they just don't speak English well.

If you want to find general, "fair" and "balanced" opinions, you need to visit a diverse forum, like this one. The Chinese forums will have Chinese fanatism, as well as the Malaysian forums will have Malaysian fanatism. Only on this diverse forum can we see the attitude of all fans.

Agreed!

I see so many predictions on MAS, but that's just because there are more people from MAS here. As usual, they are the most talkative and loudest fans. :o But when their players loose, they are the quietest ones. :o:) I often admire China. They have the best players and more than 1 billions people, but they are the quietest. ;)

Please also note that this is an English forum. A lot of people from China are not well versed in English(no offense to those from China) , try looking at the Chinese forums.

A number of China players themselves have admitted they don't speak English well, they always speak in Chinese with translation.

And when Malaysian players lose, actually the fans here also are the loudest in critizing, look at the looong posts on 'why they lost....'

Sorry, I meant Msian fans are loudest in critizing when Msian players lose(remember Pemuda and other like him), you said quietest. Same goes for our government and media, that's already covered in other threads.

That's why I said "one more character of MAS fans to notice", which means MAS fans do not stop at being quiet when their players lose, but they go even further by criticizing their idols. Criticizing their players is another character of MAS fans, which if it is not constructive, is even worse than being quiet.

I just didn't want to make MAS fans upset by saying they have criticized their own players, so I stoped by saying they were the quietest. But you're right and you have pointed out this fact.

It is a shame for MAS fans, sometimes they are just over reacting...
When they won a title or two.. Many are live in the heaven, while if the lost tamely in the opening matches or failed to even advance into the finals.. Some will start their bashes here & there.

Ben L, I dare to point that out cos I'm also Malaysian, of course at the risk of being bashed myself :). Sometimes they pick up from our critical press and Sports Council,so one thing leads to another. All the intensity and anxiety over any potential gold medal contenders cos Msia have never won gold in Olympics.

Prediction wise : I hope Malaysia can win the MS and MD in this time, that would stop the critics for a while.

To some extent I do agree with you, but this trait is probably predominant all throughout other countries, and not just restricted to Malaysia only. Why you see more of this in the BC forum is because there are more Malaysians here, while I am sure, if you go to for example, a Chinese forum, such bashings and praises will be predominant. I think this is the trait of all fans, regardless of what country they are from, and I think you are unfair in saying that this trait is restricted to Malaysia only.

When you are at home, you can do/talk/act whatever you fell good. Nobody worries about it. But only in public places will your attitude be judged. Do you get it? On your home forum (Malaysian forum), you can talk/bash/praise whatever you want and nobody minds, but on a diverse forum like this one, you have to watch your attitude. Do you get it?

Yes, the caucasians are the majority in the US, but they don't have a say and authority over everything. It is a free country and a land of opportunity, and nobody has to live with what someone else does. And tend to do whatever you want doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. You brought up a good example which even proved that you were wrong.

If you are immature, you tend to do and say immature things. And you last post proved it. :D:D:D

Nevertheless, should also be aware of Nat/Gail(european) and TL/KRJ (host pair), Chinese threat as well in XXB/ZYW and HH/YY(they may surprise and overwhelm the INAs)

WS: Tine, shall reach the final if she can maintain her performance as in Japan OPen, upset all top Chinese WS players in one tournament blow (ZN,LL,XXF), simply awesome! XXF could demand for revenge should one of them reaches final and meet Tine.would be amusing match of XXF vs Tine episode 2 (empire strikes back/revenge of the sith!) :D:D:D

MS: not too exaggerating I guess if I put LD,LCW,TH,and Peter Gade as top candidate of champion, however TH and LD have to meet at earlier round, so my prediction would be advantage this time for LCW if he can overcome SDk or SDK if he can surprise once again badminton's paw n through to final against LD or Peter (sorry Mr.President, doesn't mean that I dunt luv U :p)

WD: hmm..this is big opportunity for Vita/Lilyana to prove that they can do sumthing to upset all great Chinese WD pairs..however my bid would be CHN as the champ still even if one of them meet Vita/Lilyana in the final

I think this time, would be the good chance for INA young gun of Hendra AG/Joko Riyadi..they can upset KKK/TBH..They haven't had any jinx with this pair..and they improving so well so far.

So, in the final would be

XD: all INA
WS: Danes vs CHN
MS: PG or LD vs LCW or SDK
WD: CHN vs LN/VM from INA
MD: JR/LP or HAG/Joko R vs CTF/LWW or CY/FH

I think objectively, INA will take one title from XD, CHN 3 from MS, WS and WD, and Denmark one from MD.

That's my prediction guys..
Of course I hope INA can take as much as we can from XD,MS,WD, and MD as for the WS..hmm..maybe 10 years from now..:rolleyes:, hehehhe :D:D:D

Oh dear, now they're bashing you . Next time, let us fellow Msians comment on the Msian fans - they can't say a Msian don't know any better, we live here.

Daniel Wong - Ben L is more indirect, if you read some of the posts by some other Malaysians, they are much much more critical. And as I stated, NSC (with the media following suit) are putting very high hopes on badminton. Look at the other successful sports - bowling, squash, karate, recently archery, coverage much more low key.
