Just wanted to know if there are any good places to buy badminton stuff in Phuket or Bangkok. Or any streets where there are black markets?

thanx

I've just got back from Thailand last night. I bought 2 MP100's packages that came with Yonex socks, T-shirt and MP100 strung with BG-85 for about $87 a package from Yonex showroom in World Trade Center.

Tell me when you come. If I have time, there will be a better place to buy. Just 2,000 m. from WTC.
However, I'm not happy with my Ti7, now looking for MP77 or MP100.
Did you try Ti7 already?

i'm headed to Bangkok by the looks of it instead of Phuket coz of that disease thing in Phuket. So i was wondering, anyone in Thailand got any good places where i can find cheap genuine Yonex stuff? or any sorts of genuine badminton stuff? Or black markets prehaps?

thanx

The only place I go to in Bangkok is the Yonex shop @ World Trade Center. Most expensive racquet (MP100) there costs less than S$160, inclusive of a shirt, socks and strings.

Racquets there are 3U though, so maybe you can pickup a MP100 3U version ? I bought a 3U Ti-10 from there.

You can also visit the department store in World Trade Center, there is Zen, which sells Carlton quite cheaply, about S$95 for a AB900 (exclusive of string). I even saw the Wilson Hyper Carbon there !

My previous trip there, was very tempted to get the AB900m but end up getting the Ti-10, anyway, my fren just got a AB900, so will borrow and test it out to see if it is really as good as claimed.

Happy shopping !

S$ = Singapore dollars.

Only disadvantage is that the lady at the shop will not string for you higher than the recommended tension.

The shop has a electronic scale which you can weigh the racquet.

hi byro-nenium,
i know of some places that are quite inexpensive cos i live in thailand. there are SUPER SPORTS sections in the Central department stores that has almost all the sport products including a large selection of badminton products. two monts earlier i was there and i saw the tag of Ti-10 costing about 4000 baht and the MP100 was samething like 4800 baht ( i do not confirm ) but if you tell them that you are a student or show them somekind of student identity you can get a discount of 15%. another place is behind the MBK (MA- boon -KHRONG ) centernest to the main stadium you can to tell the tuk tuk to take you to this place. it is an area that you wil have to explore but just a bit. i bought my Ti-10 here for 3260 baht including bg65ti and a cover. i hope i am not too late. yes but i find the prices at the zen world trade a little expensive.

The serial number ends with TH. How could you tell if a Ti-10 is a SP version ? Coz mine bought there does not have SP

According to the price given by King, I think WTC is cheaper than Central Super sports, as my Ti-10 is I think 3870 baht, but the place behind MBK is definitely cheap !

king
06-29-2001, 09:27 AM
thanks scooby.. for the SP thing. the serial in thailand always ends with TH. when are you going there byro. i can find out exactly how the racket costs are if you want but this might take sometime.

Central Depatment Store Chidlom has a good selection of equipment. I bought a Isometric Swing Power Ti SR for 4650 Baht in Feb. I was told there are some great shops/stands on the road beside the National Stadium.

Hey ! I might just do that ! Heh heh....

Anyway, I managed to find the receipt, but since it is all written in Thai, I can only give you the numbers that I see, so you will have to try your luck in calling them.

1) 259-0103-5
2) 2599893

I think the second number might be the phone number, country code for Thailand is 66, not too sure about the city code, it is Bangkok.

Hope that helps !

1) Central Chidlom on the right, walk along Rama1 (Sukhumvit road).Next is Worldtrade centre(WTC) on the right, Siamsquare on the left, MBK on the left, National stadium on the left, then, some little shops on the left.
2) Super Sport is by far more expensive than WTC and the shops next to National stadium.
3) Yonex shop in WTC can give you a good price if you buy in set, nearly the same price as those little shops.
4) National stadium is not Hua Mark stadium.
5) MP100 is 3,300 baht- Ti 10 at 3,100 around. Do your own negotiation.
6) Racket is TH.
7) Bangkok is now use new area code. Dial 02 before phone number, even that you will call from Bangkok to Bangkok. (01 for mobile phone).

Hope this will help some.

Hi guys...just to add a bit...I was in Bangkok just last month...was walking in Siam Centre Shopping Complex and saw this sport shop on the upper level of the building...they are selling Winex Ti-8 for only 990 baht...which is equivalent to S$42.70...I did not get it coz I was short of cash...now I'm full of regrets...

A friend bought one package from SUPER SPORTS in CRC SPORTS SILOM COMPLEX.

- yonex MP88, TH, 4U - unstrung
- 2 pcs BG 65 Ti
- 1 yonex replacement grip
- 1 yonex knapsack/sportbag

All above for 3,790 Baht

I asked a friend to get me an MP99 3U/G5 at the Yonex Store at WTC Bangkok. It came with a pack of BG65Ti Strings (White) and cost me 4,790 baht. Dont know if I got ripped off.

The sticker price tag says 7% VAT included. Would anyone know if the racquets sold there are genuine 'coz mine came with an ordinary black vinyl case (that had muscle power in gold and gray print) and not the usual yellow "Ultimmum Ti" thermal bag.

Though the racquet head had the red-striped grommets. Will appreciate any reply on this.

it is fine. different markets give different bags. the Yonex store in WTC as far as everybody in the forum can tell, do sell genuine items. (being a Yonex store, it better be genuine!)
