badMania 10-20-2007, 01:27 PM MEN'S SINGLES
Prezmyslaw Wachavs Kendrick Lee Yen Hui -- Wacha barely won today and I am picking Kendrick to win his first title this year.
MEN'S DOUBLES
Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan vs Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki -- an all-Djarum Final in the MD is certainly greatly appreciated and I think Rian/Yoke can win their 2nd titles this year (first GP title as a pair). They should be ready compete with the best in the SS next year.
WOMEN'S SINGLES
Li Wenyan vs Judith Meulendijks -- Li is on fire as she reaches her second consecutive Finals  I think she can make up for her loss to Firda last year
WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Nina Vislova/Valeria Sorokina vs Anastasia Russkikh/Ekaterina Ananina -- battle of the RUS pairs and I think the first pair will take it based on their impressive victory over Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia
MIXED DOUBLES
Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia vs Rasmus Bonde Nissen/Christina Pedersen -- the SIN pair should take it home.

No, he was not top seed. Chen Jin was top seed. Park Sung Hwan was 2nd seed. Kendrick was 5/8 seed but he beat Park Sung Hwan.

Oo man...Eng Hian must be really fuming now. The Danes come out from nowhere and beat the fancied SIN pair
badMania 10-21-2007, 06:44 AM Looks like Wacha has gotten himself a band of supporters since his stunning performance in the China Masters.
Meanwhile, I am rooting for Kendrick Lee.
badMania 10-21-2007, 06:52 AM Wacha is leading 18-17 in the crucial phase of the rubber-set.
badMania 10-21-2007, 06:52 AM ...and Kendrick levelled it at 18-18 before he wins another 2 points and have 2 match points at 20-18. It's Kendrick's match to lose now...
THEbaschti 10-21-2007, 06:53 AM Matchpoint for Lee...
extremenanopowe 10-21-2007, 06:55 AM Well done again to Kendrick Lee for his first big tournament. Hope more to come. Cheers!:D
badMania 10-21-2007, 06:55 AM Kendrick Lee Yen Hui has won the title after beating Przemyslaw Wacha in rubber-sets 20-22, 21-11, 21-18.
Wacha was leading 5 pts at 16-11 before Kendrick eventually caught up and won it. Congrats to Kendrick Lee for his first title of the year.
Krisna 10-21-2007, 06:58 AM Wow, congrats to Kendrick. I admire him for not sacrificing his studies even though he is a pro badminton player...
badMania 10-21-2007, 06:58 AM Well done again to Kendrick Lee for his first big tournament. Hope more to come. Cheers!:D
Indeed, the Dutch Open 2007 title represents his first GP title since his US Open victory in 2004.
badMania 10-21-2007, 07:01 AM Look's like everyone is going home happy:
MEN'S SINGLES -- SINGAPORE
WOMEN'S SINGLES -- CHINA/HOLLAND (but I think Li is also based in Holland).
MEN'S DOUBLES -- INDONESIA :D
WOMEN'S DOUBLES -- RUSSIA
MIXED DOUBLES -- DENMARK
taufik-ist 10-21-2007, 07:08 AM wacha lost.. :( *faint*
samuel882 10-21-2007, 07:47 AM Li WY is without a coach during the whole tournament
samuel882 10-21-2007, 09:17 AM AS expected.. Battle of teeth to toe for both INA MD Pair
badMania 10-21-2007, 09:20 AM Rian/Yoke gain the upper-hand as they go into the interval of the first set, leading 11-7. Rendra/Fran were leading 7-6 when their team-mate suddenly surged ahead with 5 straight pts.
badMania 10-21-2007, 09:23 AM Too many unforced errors from Rendra/Fran (12 vs 3) as Rian/Yoke head into a comfortable position at 17-10.
demolidor 10-21-2007, 09:23 AM WOMEN'S SINGLES -- CHINA/HOLLAND (but I think Li is also based in Holland).
....... Danmark ........
badMania 10-21-2007, 09:25 AM Rian/Yoke take the first set comfortably 21-13 in 10 mins.
badMania 10-21-2007, 09:26 AM 6 smashes a piece from both pairs, but what makes the difference is unforced errors (15 vs 6). Rendra/Fran can be very lethal as we saw yesterday, but they are also more prone to committing errors  Rian/Yoke are certainly much more stable.
Krisna 10-21-2007, 09:28 AM Yeah, they know each other's shot-making ability... I heard, most of the time Rian-Yoke wins in practice...
Krisna 10-21-2007, 09:28 AM Astro is showing the match live, my friend said...
Krisna 10-21-2007, 09:30 AM Rian-Yoke is killing Fran-Rendra now... C'mon fight, guys! Just make the fans happy to watch a good match laaahh...
badMania 10-21-2007, 09:30 AM It's a one-sided match as Rian/Yoke are once again dominant and lead 11-4 at the interval of the second set. This time 6 smashes vs 0, while all the pts Rendra/Fran got were from unforced errors by Rian/Yoke.
badMania 10-21-2007, 09:37 AM It's all over as Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki have beaten Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan 21-13, 21-12 in just 22 mins. 13 smashes vs 0 in the second set
TH_4_President 10-21-2007, 10:02 AM It's all over as Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki have beaten Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan 21-13, 21-12 in just 22 mins. 13 smashes vs 0 in the second set
It's Ok..the most important is that Indonesia has brought one title from young all-indos MD pairs..good to conserve Indonesians MD strong tradition ;):D:D:D:D
taufik-ist 10-21-2007, 10:13 AM congrats to rian/yoke and Djarum..

Sandy 10-21-2007, 09:04 PM Rian was dominant in front side play, netting & drive, Yoke/Rian has good defense and many time Yoke give tricky and unpredicted return.
They played in fast pace, many error from Rendra, wide smashes.
Good match to watch, so sad I couldn't record it.
Xinguy 10-21-2007, 10:44 PM Kendrik congratulation u've done us proud, keep it up hurray:)
Sealman 10-21-2007, 11:11 PM very surprised that Saputra/Li Yujia lost
Singapore players fumble again:crying::crying::crying:Eng Hian must be fuming with both md and wd top seed:D:p:confused::eek:;):cool::o:mad::c rying:Well done, well done to Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki and the Russian gals. Ate your heart out, didn't they?:D

Now you should give more respect to Kendrick Lee for being the Dutch Open 2007 Champion! In the past, for whatever reason known to yourself only, you have been rather sarcastic and uninspiring towards Kendrick. I hope you'll be more positive from now onwards.
CLELY 10-22-2007, 12:59 AM This Dutch Open/07 is balance for 'title contribution', 5 titles spread to 5 countries. That's good and quite surprising result!
MS -- SIN, impressing performance from Kendrick to beat Lee Tsuen Seng and Wacha in last four and final round
WS -- CHN, Li Wenyan was runner-up of last year event but still unfamiliar shuttler. Seems she's rare to participate many bdm tourneys?!
MD -- INA, all-INA-final in two consecutive years
WD -- RUS, wow a breakthrough from Russian girls
XD -- DEN, another shock to stun the top-seed
Rian can defend MD title succesfully with different partner, yeah well done! I guess yannie is so happy about this...
badMania 10-22-2007, 01:04 AM Rian was dominant in front side play, netting & drive, Yoke/Rian has good defense and many time Yoke give tricky and unpredicted return.
They played in fast pace, many error from Rendra, wide smashes.
Good match to watch, so sad I couldn't record it.
I noticed that Rian/Yoke won quite a lot of pts from net winners in their earlier match against Dean George/Chris Adcock (17 vs 9), so, I presume the strategy is Rian in front and Yoke at the back.
Now, Rian/Yoke is perhaps my second favorite MD pair, after Kido/Hendra. I am looking forward to see them lift the World Championships perhaps in 2009 or 2010 when their playing hours against the top pairs have increased.
This year, the target is top 25, next year is to break top 10 and in 2009, time to be one of the best.
Linus 10-22-2007, 04:02 AM I believe SBA is being very realistic and pragmatic in sending Singaporean shuttlers to GP level tournament. This is where our players can go really far and even a fair chance to win.
The SS is far too competitive and it usually take a combination of favourable draw and a peak in form to see our players go as far as the semi, let alone the rare occasion that they win a SS series.
Players are human too and they need motivation - and being knocked out often in early rounds in SS cannot be good in long run, hence a win or a good showing the GP series would boast their morale and confidence once a while.
Of course, the main goal must still be on the SS and major international events, although these GP trophy are good to have too!
Tommy Susanto 10-22-2007, 04:16 AM Neither is US Open 2004, that's the reality:crying::crying::crying:It bites, aint it? Can we ask for a certain consistency out of Ken-Ken?:p:crying::D:rolleyes::confused::eek:;):(:oExp ectation is higher now, and guess what do you get this week in Denmark? A 1st round TKO by Taufik in a super series event(that's the key word:ss):crying::crying::crying::D:D:DRead my lips: a win in GP Gold or above=tonnes of respect:p:eek::rolleyes::confused::cool:;):D
May i add that Li Yu Jia is over over over rated. I saw her match in Macau, she talked a lot with Hendri Kurniawan, who did not give a sxxx about her:p:eek::cool:;):o
Tommy Susanto 10-22-2007, 05:10 AM Oo man...Eng Hian must be really fuming now. The Danes come out from nowhere and beat the fancied SIN pair
:crying::crying::crying:SIN got 3 TOP SEEDS in 5 events. Do i need to elaborate more?:crying::eek::confused::mad::rolleyes::(:o;)
george@chongwei 10-22-2007, 07:00 AM very surprise that local favourites Judith Meulendijks lost in the final to Li wenyan of china....
:crying::crying::crying:SIN got 3 TOP SEEDS in 5 events. Do i need to elaborate more?:crying::eek::confused::mad::rolleyes::(:o;)
You are being totally unrealistic and 'revengeful'.
In this tournament, unseeded qualifier, Li Wenyan became the WS champion.
Singapore players appeared in six semifinal matches and 2 final matches, winning the MS and runner-up in XD. I personally think this is a good outing for our players and has added to their confidence and exposure.
Haven't you seen or heard of the world's top players like Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat, etc, being beaten, sometimes by much lower ranked players and even to 'unknowns'? Haven't you heard of a single country represented in all the final events in a tournament and winning no titiles at all? This is all part and parcel of the game and we must learn to accept it.
Kendrick Lee was seeded 4 and yet he managed to beat the no.1 and 2 seeds to win the titile. But you just dismissed his performance and didn't even give him credit. Remember Kendrick has also beatean Chen Jin in this year's Singapore Open.
Do I need to elaborate more? What are your personal motives against Kendrick and Singapore?

judging from his name "tommy susanto" i suspect he is indonesian or half indonesian-singaporean.. ... hhmm i forgot ... :p congrats to kendrick on winning ductch open 2007 ...
Krisna 10-22-2007, 11:27 PM I noticed that Rian/Yoke won quite a lot of pts from net winners in their earlier match against Dean George/Chris Adcock (17 vs 9), so, I presume the strategy is Rian in front and Yoke at the back.

I am optimistic Rian-Yoke will be INA's #2 MD pair once Luluk-Alven retires... :D They are surely more potential than Joko-Hendra AG and Bona-Ahsan...
Yoke is unusually talented. His shotmaking variety is fun to watch. He is fearless ...to the point where he takes unnecessary risks, though... :p And sometimes he looses focus during the match. :p Oh well, youngsters are like that... As for Rian, he is the dependable powerplayer, similar to Candra Wijaya in many respects, but not as experienced (yet), of course... :D From what I understand, Candra-Tony often practices with Rian-Yoke in Djarum's courts. Their mere presence is an inspiration for the youngsters...
Oh, furthermore, both Rian and Yoke are reasonably tall & good-looking and will invite the attention of many female fans... ;) Badminton needs as many fans as possible and should do whatever it takes to bring people to watch (thus attracting sponsorship interests)... Maybe next time we can arrange a Nina Vislova - Rian Sukmawan XD pairing just to get press attention... :p
Tommy Susanto 10-31-2007, 04:34 AM You are being totally unrealistic and 'revengeful'.
Take a chill pill Loh:p, i am not holding any rackets nor have the X-Men power to cause one's defeat(s). On second thought, hey:D not bad if one can shoot laser beam out of eyeballs like Scott Summer aka Cyclops, ain't that cool:p

Loh, i ain't stingy about giving compliment to a player but it has to be a GP Gold event or above. Mark my words:cool:

Chill it Loh, it could have been you and some young SIN posters:rolleyes:, you know?:pWhy drag the entire SIN into this:crying::crying::crying:

Facts: no one gives a JACK who i am and who you are;). Let alone, if you are from INA, SIN, LA, CAN or HKG:pCouldn't be clearer now, isn't it:D
