Hasbullah Awang? He's boss. In fact he often does so like commentating a football game - boisterous and loud. He'll sometimes get carried away, and you with him! It's hard not to feel excited when he does it.

hasbullah awang is the best commentator ever.... he likes to always overstate the obivous, which although gets annoying sometimes during tense moments like the Thomas Cup finals 1992 (thats going way back!!)

Calm down, according to Astro website, French Open will be on TV both the SF and Final, however, it may not be "Live". I do agree Astro should dedicate one channel for racket sports to avoid schedule conflict among sports and I think it's very easy to get enough petition to force this issue in Malaysia as the pool of fan for badminton is so huge.
Below is the cut and paste from Astro website :

Not necessary that we have to pay extra as Astro still have enough bandwidth for that. Just like during big events of Olympic and World Championships, Astro open out few more channels without additional charges. Further more, Astro most probably already pay for whatever right to broadcast badminton so dedicating one channel for rackets sports should not raise the expense that much. Malaysia is really lucky to have Astro!

i knw astro got a lady english commentator..
feel like wanna sleep when she is on duty..
so boring!!

She is quite neutral, most of the time stating something obvious and with her trade mark slogans "how on earth ...", "badminton at its best". She is best when team up with Morten Frost. Julian Clark still is one of the best in the world, the only combo that I think did better that her is Zhoa Jianhua/She May Yen back in Star Sports during 90s in Mandarin.

More like nerves of very thick concrete walls supported by steel. :D That was how Yang/Zhang won the World Championships in KL. They were far down against their compatriots, but still came back to win it.

Brilliant performances has displayed by Lu Lan and He Hanbin/Yu Yang based on their hard efforts to win the titles here. Lu Lan has defeated world class WS shuttlers, XXF-reigning World Champ Zhu Lin and Zhang Ning also similar strory for He/Yu who has dumped three XD top-names successfully, Flandy/Vita-Xie/Zhang and former World Champ Nathan/Gail.

Seems MAS world #1 Koo/Tan have found a new way, back to right track as high calibre MD pair who possible will take back-to-back SS titles after AE and SUI SS... Yeah, once again they have denied China to create clean-sweep same as they had done in All England last March. Congratulation!

Unfortunately BCL remarkable breakthrough to beat TH, CJ and LCW in second round, quarter and semifinal respectively must stop at the end by his compatriot LD. I think MS final was the anti-climax and totally uninteresting match yesterday when LD outclassed Bao with straight games. Honestly, LD reached his 4th SS title this time 'supported' by BCL who has destroyed LD's two arch-rivals en route to finale. And we will wait and see, how far can Super Dan walk at upcoming French SS? (as he gets tough drawing there...)

Astro should have one dummy sport channel to broadcast live in case there is a clash in schedule like today's Danish Open. Wth, Astro has a golf central channel, why can't we have one for badminton or racquet sports?
Couldn't agree more...:D That was what I thought when they came up with the Golf channel... No offence intended to anyone, but golf is boring in my opinion.Astro should have a badminton or racquet sports channel as robin7 had suggested as many Malaysians love badminton and even squash:D p/s:I'm still a bit upset about Nicol David's loss....don't give up Nicol!!! :D

Undeniably, LD's win is "helped" by his teammate BCL, and his title in DEN is much easier than LCW's title in JPN.

from badzine....

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-He-Yu.jpgDanish and English hopes for getting a gold medal vanished when the mixed Robertson/Emms was stunned by youngsters He and Yu, while Erkisen and Lundgaard ended their fairy tale against Malaysia’s Koo and Tan. Lin Dan and Lu Lan won the singles event.

Don Hearn, Badzine Co Chief Editor. Photos : Badmintonphoto (live)

First up was the mixed doubles where Asian Champions Yu Yang and He Hanbin took their third title of the year with an exciting win over former World Champions Robertson/Emms.

Yu/He got off to a rather shaky start, trailing 5-10 before coming back to keep the second half of the game very close. Fighting back from 16-17 down, however the Chinese began to have some success in trapping Gail Emms at the back and also benefitted from some key errors by the English players, including one rather comical serve by Robertson directly into the back of his partner's head. All this allowed the Chinese to make a 5-point run to take the one-game lead.

Robertson/Emms fought back in the second game, using a lot more precision, and doing a better job of keeping Robertson attacking from the back. They got out in front and needed all three of the game points they'd earned at 20-17 before finishing the game 21-19.

The deciding game was a showcase of thrilling rallies but the Chinese pair, having taken the lead at 3-2, kept the English pair always a few steps behind and closed the match confidently at 21-17.

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-Lin-Bao.jpgDanes Denied Doubles Win at Home

In the men's doubles, the question was whether Denmark's senior pair of Martin Lungaard Hansen and Jens Eriksen could come away with a win at home to match the feat of Malaysian Open Champions and world #1 Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong. Unfortunately for the Danish pair, however, there had been more than homecourt advantage to the success of Koo/Tan, who are definitely the year's hottest pair and who came primed and ready to take their seventh title in their 13-month partnership.

Koo/Tan kept a slight edge through the first half of the first game and looked set to run away with it when the Danes, trailing 10-13, put together a 6-point run to take the lead. Once they had it, they went from precision play to relentless attack and only allowed the Malaysian youngsters a single additional point before they took it home 21-14.

From the outset of the second game, Jens Eriksen came out firing, clearly hungry for his first title in over a year. However, it was the Malaysians who once again led at the interval and this time they kept the pressure on with their attacks and didn't let the Danes back into it, producing a mirror-image scoreline with a 21-14 finish.

In the third game, the Danes could feel things slipping away from them. Koo/Tan seemed to get every break. Their focus and intensity were phenomenal and they left no doubt that they deserved their No. 1 ranking. Lungaard Hansen/Eriksen still showed moments of brilliance and even looked, at times, as though they were on the verge of getting back into the match but in the end, they couldn't match the Malaysians' pace and went down 12-21.

"We are still very happy with our results, even if we lost today. We haven't played so well in 6 months, but today, Koo Kien Keat was all over the place in the second and third round," said Lundgaard. "We didn't concentrate on our game in the first game, but then we started playing more tactically," said the latter after the match, which saw them win their 4th Super Series tournament this year.

http://www.badzine.info/images/stories/News/DEN-LU2.jpgLu Lan in the Limelight as Lin's Win Lacks Lustre

Lin Dan (photo up, right) put on a textbook display of domination as he allowed teammate Bao Chunlai to lead exactly once in the full 36 minutes of his straight-game rout. Bao became increasingly desperate and never managed to find the lines with any kind of consistency.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles, Zhang Ning's tough week and her injury proved to be too tough to cope with against younger compatriot Lu Lan (photo, left), who stunned the Olympic Champion for the first time in her career, 21-17, 21-14. "I am very happy about my first win against Zhang Ning as I've played really well this week, but I still believe that Zhang and Xie are the top two players in the world," said a humble Lu.

Koo/Tan were smiling when the PA introduced them as "Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan from INA". She apologised and corrected later.

hahahahaha..
she apologized again to koo and tan later after the final..
markis and hendra just laughed.. lol..
..maybe someone gave Anne the wrong cards with the wrong names??...Hmm, yannie, was that one of the reason Anne called/smsed you last week and asked for your help in pronouncing the players' names?? just for this task??:cool:..I can see the picture now & understand:cool:

No.. Cuz Saturday evening when Anne was doing the reports, she wrote Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan on the sheet for the MD final (LOL! Cuz we were cheering for KINDRA during the match and apparently thought they could win, then forgot to change the names for the final after the semifinal match...) Hahahaha

(blame it on the lack of sleep, i guess, on Anne's part??)..:p;)
..good thing she didn't write Rian Sukmawan & Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki, on the sheet, on Saturday night...that'll really turn the whole place into a frenzy...:p

yes yes yes.. tease me as much as you all want to... i made the mistake.. i made the speak-sheet the evening before, while cheering for the INA guys, went to our dinnerparty, got in bed late, woke up and gave the report to two different persons, neither of them corrected the mistake.. weird! and when I pronounced the game I could suddenly hear that the names that I was saying outloud were not the players on court! man! the whole audience laughed! it was soooo embarrasing...! gezz! i knew it was live at tv-2 in Denmark but not that the broadcasting-rights had been sold further-on to the rest of the world! my god!
but i apologized to KKK and TBH and said i'm sorry guys, i'm sorry, and they replied in a funny-tone, yeah you should be.. lol!
the day went on, and I were embarrased! jesus!
so make fun of it if you want, i wouldn't blame you for doing so, but i'm only human<, i make mistakes, that it was to happen on international tele and thereby live was not so good. But well..
i'm back for the CPH masters, let's hope it will work out better then

...don't worry, your overall contribution, by providing the livescores et al, outweighs the small simple mistake you did~maybe because you've been working very hard the whole week & a bit tired??;)...But glad you have a pretty good sense of humor abt it;):)...And yes, we are definitely looking fw to the Copenhagen Masters and you helping out with the organizer, once again!!...:)

thank you soooo much for saying that.. i'm been a nervous wreck.. lol! no, just gotta get back into the saddle I guess... I try to pronounce the asian names as well as possible, but it is hard! I only speak Danish, English, German and French (and understand some more) but no asian yet!, so my asian is kinda like english with french pronouncation... maybe not the sapkulchananart and the prapakamol (my god i would marry that man just to get that lastname, it's so cool!)...
but hey i've heard some of the asian players trying to pronounce the Danish players names, and nooooo! that was sooo bad!
my god! lol!
well we can't all talk the same language, now can we.. we'll try the english version! yeah!
sorry for the goofy-ness and all the spelling mistakes,, it's late in denmark now! i should really go to bed!
