Lu Lan bt Zhang Ning - I only picked Lu Lan because she's faster than Zhang Ning is in general, and since ZN is injured, Lu Lan's fitness could win her the match as she did in the Chinese National Games.

Koo/Tan bt Eriksen/Hansen - Coming into another hot spell, Koo/Tan can do it if they keep their minds in the game. It could turn into a tough 3 setter with the Danes having homeland support.

LD had his way to the finals pretty much carved for him, with average opponents, except for KJ. On the other side, BCL is in surprisingly good form as he really battled it out against top players: Taufik, Jin Chen, and LCW. If he can convert his mind into the finals where he failed in the last years, then he will surely win.

Lu Lan vs Zhang Ning
Acutally, this a very tough match. Lu Lan has yet to win this year, as she lost twice in the finals. But her mind is really made up and has huge confidence with her win on XXF and ZL. She can defeat our veteran Zhang Ning. And if she does, she can claim having beaten the best players in the world.

Koo/Tan vs Eriksen/Lundgaard
The match in the SF with the Danes against the Chinese was quite surprising. Notwithstanding the fact the CY and FHF are having trouble lately, the danes really battled it out in their homecourt. The danes outplayed a very fast pair. Since KKK and TBH really like to kill everything fast, the danes will again have their defense put to the test and needs to outwit the young talents. Still, it wouldn't surprised me that the Danes win in a very heated battle.

Yang Wei/ Zhang Jiewen vs Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Jung
Two great pairs, yet the koreans are playing extremely well. For me, it isn't an upset that the korean would win against the second seeded strongest pair. Tall LHJ is a perfect match with LKW, and both have improved immensely. LKW's agressive play and the pairs precision is what will take the koreans to victory.

Robertson/Emms vs He Hanbin/Yu Yang
No surprise here. The british pair are back this year with a vengeance, propelling them once again on the top of the world leaderboard. Thank you Lee Jae Bok !

It is from their efforts and coaching structural changes that CHN grew to challenge INA, the powerhouse of that time, and on to dominate world badminton.

Totally agreed that mix flavors are always good and I see MAS has benefited from this. China will always go with their past players as coaches, is it pride or just the culture....???? Just like in the states, we went with foreign coaches and players to build the soccer program (football) and groom locals to step in at a later stage. Isn't that the same with Singapore ???? I saw that Singapore recruit at junior levels too ... right ? Global affect !!!:D

Under normal circumstances, I would say that Lin Dan would most certainly prevail. But after seeing Bao survive Lee Chong Wei, Chen Jin and Taufik, I think this might be the match for Bao to shed his Mr. Runner Up status. Denmark certainly brings back memories for him; that is where he won his first international title, when he ironically beat Lin Dan in the finals. But circumstances have changed ever since. Lin Dan has become the poster boy for Chinese badminton, while Bao has been somewhat shunned into the shadows of the great Dan. Bao is a man with a mission, out to prove to Li Yongbo and his female fans that he can win titles. While it is rare for me to say this, I would say that Bao will prevail over Lin Dan in 3 tight sets.

Agreed with you on this point.. On many occasions, a player can played extremely awesome today but lost poorly in the next day..
It will be difficult for Bao as LD is also eager to win more SS titles. He knows with the absence of LCW & TH in the finals, this will be his chance..
As for MD, KKK/TBH played like a killer yesterday, but will they remain their superior?? That's a question mark....

It could be somewhat of a rematch from last yr's Thomas Cup's great marathon Semi Finals match, where KKK & CCM won a thrilling 30-29 set against the same DEN pair JE & MLH (to put it midlly, that was some intense, edge of your seat actions, full of drama with a couple of red-cards & warnings from the umpire:p)...For those of you who still remember, y'all know what i'm referring to..:p:)..But unlike last yr, where KKK partnered with Chan Chong Ming (who just retired from BAM), this time he is playing as a leader with the young TBH...Hopefully it'll turn out to be another good one...Another 30-29 barn-burner, firecracker set in the making?? The duo of Danish veterans, not doing so well lately with very busy schedules outside their training in Brondby, were taking on the top seeds Cai and Fu. And The Danes, in the best match of the day, stunned the Chinese in three games and a score line of 21-16, 21-23, 21-19 in over one hour of play.


Yet it wasn’t the only match going close to an hour, as many fights were close ones. Lin Dan and Bao Chunlai took just about as much time to beat their opponents of the day, Kenneth Jonassen and Lee Chong Wei respectively. I 'm so delighted for BCL that he never let a poor G1 bother him and went on to win against LCW.LCW , after a flawless G1, became vulnerable late G2 and by G3, it was obvious he was experiencing energy leak because there was sudden speed loss,futile smashes and poor,costly baseline judgement.There was no way he could deliver and sustain his attacking game without sufficient energy backup.
Can BCL beat LD? LD disgusted me in his match against KJ.As usual, he likes to show that he can defeat tier 2 opponents just by playing at 50% of his level.If you can choose between seeing a WN1 playing sharp and short in 30 mins or sloppy and long in 50+ mins, what would you have? The last thing I wanted was a WN1 waste 20 mins of my (and perhaps almost everyone's) time.
LD has the advantage over BCL since they know each other's game well.The only time when I thought BCL can beat LD but maybe was not allowed to ,was in WC06, right after taking out LCW.This is the second opportunity and this time I believe BCL will have the full freedom to battle LD.Coming off enviable victories over TH and LCW (esp. LCW) will inspire him and hopefully can energise him for one more win. It's not easy against LD but if it's going to happen,it has to be today. Like LCW mentally braced himself in his JO match against TH by saying he's not going to come this far to lose,BCL can do just as well.

If ZN were injured,it certainly did not impair her game. She must be the ultimate pain blocker to be able to win 3 gruelling matches consecutively.It's sheer proof of mind over matter.
