huangkwokhau 11-04-2007, 05:24 PM why are lilyana/vita seeded?
Some of criteria are not clear...........you can see XD or WD where SEY ( country) where its WD or XD is seeded higher than from Taiwanese eventhough Taiwanese ranks much higher.....
Even gao Ling/Du Jing is seeded quite high eventhough they never play together before in international event....
BWF has a lot works to do if they want badminton goes to fully professionally like Tennis in future....

I get the BWF's idea of notional points but I don't see how the INA ladies qualify for it since they are a brand new pair and not a scratch pair made of two higher ranked players. Gao Ling/Du Jing are seeded cause they both are ranked within the top 20 w/ GL at #3 so they are deserving of a seed since they have separate rankings, but Lilyana/Vita are just a new team. I don't see why they don't have to crawl up the rankings to get seeded like everyone else...
On a side note, sucks for Huang Sui who seems to have been ousted from playing for now for some reason. She hasn't been on form lately though.

I just checked again on Version 3, ( pls click on M&Q), Vita/Natsir is not seeded anymore...their place is taken by ZTT/Yu Yang....now Taufik is seeded 7 in version 3....

Hm...I hope Huang Shui is not retiring....someone said that Du Jing is retired..now she is back with Gao Ling......interesting and I would like to see how they play in China.....
jasonmarc 11-05-2007, 03:18 AM I am happy to see...Tony gunawan/Candra Wijaya is in the list........i really miss them a lot..

But i do like more Hendra AG pairs up with Lita Nurlita or Jo NOvita
Sandy 11-05-2007, 09:25 AM But i do like more Hendra AG pairs up with Lita Nurlita or Jo NOvita
I also prefer Hendra paired again with Lita Nurlita. This pair was 1st choice in INA Jr team in WJC 2000.
tommy_bun 11-05-2007, 09:50 AM I saw Gao ling/zhao tingting seeded 5

It is clearly stated in the regulations. Look at Section 9 of http://www.internationalbadminton.org/PDF%20-%20Regulations/197%20APPENDIX%206%20-%20WORLD%20RANKING%20SYSTEM.pdf
There are two ways a pair can be seeded higher than their world ranking.
1. A newly-forged pair but with high rankings with previous partners, as in the case of Gao Ling/ZTT or DJ. (see Section 9.3)
2. A pair with only less than 10 tournaments, as in the case of Vita/Butet. (See Section 9.4)
In fact, the mistake they made in Version 2 was taking 5 tournaments into account, when they should have taken just 4, which is the number of tournaments they have completed at the seeding deadline (I did not check, just assumed their mistake).

robin7 11-05-2007, 12:43 PM The seedings are a bit unexpected. Chen Hong is unseeded and so is Wong Mew Choo (both at 9th position). Wong/Chin are again unseeded at position 10th, right behind the tomboys. Sony and Taufik are seeded 7th and 8th respectively. I don't think this is final yet.

The seedings are out and are based on the rankings as of 1 Nov 2007.
For MS: Taufik is not seeded. Sony is seeded 7th.
For WS: Wong Mew Choo is not seeded.
For WD: Gao Ling/Zhao Ting Ting (note, not Du Jing as in the early version) is seeded 5th. Thankfully, Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir are seeded 6th, which means no top Chinese pairs in the early rounds, although they might encounter pairs like Pan Pan/Tian Qing.

I think thats version 1...they have updated yesterday till version 3...I believe that they will use Version 3 for final seeding....if I am not wrong..
huangkwokhau 11-05-2007, 07:14 PM Hm..now they have Version 4....there is a note " oraganizer to rank the pairs"....what does it mean???
hcyong 11-05-2007, 09:16 PM Hm..now they have Version 4....there is a note " oraganizer to rank the pairs"....what does it mean???
I just realised Version 2 is actually the correct one (and Version 4 is the wrong one, how misleading). Version 4 takes rankings on Oct 24, while Version 2 rightly takes rankings on Nov 1.

The one I posted is Version 2...which should be the correct one.
huangkwokhau 11-05-2007, 10:07 PM But the drawing date is Nov 8 which they may use the new ranking./...let me ask them today...
huangkwokhau 11-05-2007, 10:11 PM BWF confirmed that they will use Version 2 or by ranking by Nov 1, 2007...it is clear now....so why they need to update version 3 or 4.....haiya!! so misleading!
hcyong 11-05-2007, 10:27 PM http://www.internationalbadminton.org/draws.asp
01-11-07 is the seeding date. They won't use other dates. This has always been the case.
The M/Q Report is only to determine the main draw and qualifying draw entries (and also reserves if neccessary). The seedings for all events (based on ranking 01-11) are correct. I have checked.
hcyong 11-05-2007, 10:31 PM BWF confirmed that they will use Version 2 or by ranking by Nov 1, 2007...it is clear now....so why they need to update version 3 or 4.....haiya!! so misleading!
The M/Q report is Version 4. The seedings are all Version 2. They are 2 different documents, it should not be misunderstood that Version 4 is newer than Version 2. A bit misleading, got a bit confused myself also.
There could be new versions if there are withdrawals.
badMania 11-05-2007, 11:40 PM But the drawing date is Nov 8 which they may use the new ranking./...let me ask them today...
The draw date is TODAY, 6th November. The seeding for the Hong Kong Open is 8th November, with draws being made on 13th November.
huangkwokhau 11-06-2007, 06:53 AM The use of version 1, not 2...haiya! TH is not seeded but Butet/Vita is seeded....mix feeling for me..........
