I only remember they won the Singapore Open and many runner ups. They are certainly under-achievers in my book, one of the best pairs that not good at cross the finishing line! Still, to be the top pairs after all these years is never easy, give them credit able to sustain that.

LCW needs to add some real meat and muscles to his frame...I mean real meat, not potato chips...hehehe!!!
On an other note, unless LCW is injured that he resort to playing rally instead of his usual speed and attack style, I am very impressed he can play a Tan Aik Huang style (actually better than Tan) and still beat world class opponents. Now, LCW proves he can excel playing both style and provided he is healthy next year, he is in my opinion and (I should avoid saying that) a favorite for OLY.

It really depend on who they face against, if you put KKK/TBH there, I think the Malaysians will win. Sad to say CTF/LWW just not the right team to be in the final based on their records. Still, give CTF/LWW credit for getting that far, they have gave their best.

Fu and Cai are one of the top Md if not the top MD this generation.

But having look at their style and play, and the fact that they are struggling to dominate world MD and having to lose so many times to veteran pairs like CTW-LWW , Eriksen-Lundgaard both of whom werent so top in their prime, I believe that Fu-Cai cant match Tony G-Chandra V, Sigit-Chandra, Ha-Kim, , rexy-ricky or even Cheah Soon Kit -Yap Kin Hock in their prime.

Fu-Cai lacked depth, they are fast and powerful but their game lacked technique and variation. They are at the top now because the other young pairs are not as good as the pre-2004 top pairs in technique and depth except maybe KKK-TBH.

Post 2008, Fu-cai would definitely slip down the ranks as their power game cant last Cai Yun age and without depth in technique they may not win many tournaments after 2008.

I think if we talk about peak performance, Fu/Cai, KKK/TBH, CTF/LWW are at the same level (if CTF/LWW is not a little bit higher). Markis/Hendra is almost there. However Fu/Cai have big advantage over other pairs in that they never lose to non-top pairs, therefore they can always reach at least SF. Actually that's why they can stay at No.1 for a whole years despite the fact that they were beaten many times after 06 WC.

The reason for this I think is indeed their "lack of depth". Lesser pairs simply cannot withstand their fast and furious attacks. But this simple game plan usually has trouble when facing the best opponents. :cool:


Fu and Cai are one of the top Md if not the top MD this generation.

But having look at their style and play, and the fact that they are struggling to dominate world MD and having to lose so many times to veteran pairs like CTW-LWW , Eriksen-Lundgaard both of whom werent so top in their prime, I believe that Fu-Cai cant match Tony G-Chandra V, Sigit-Chandra, Ha-Kim, , rexy-ricky or even Cheah Soon Kit -Yap Kin Hock in their prime.

Fu-Cai lacked depth, they are fast and powerful but their game lacked technique and variation. They are at the top now because the other young pairs are not as good as the pre-2004 top pairs in technique and depth except maybe KKK-TBH.

Post 2008, Fu-cai would definitely slip down the ranks as their power game cant last Cai Yun age and without depth in technique they may not win many tournaments after 2008.

There was an unusual thing that all 5 final matches finished by straight games. Finally, INA brought 1 title from Europe, well done FlaVi! Seems it's very hard to grab more than one title in SS tourney except the powerful China. Until 10th leg INA 'only' collects 3 titles and a half :
- SIN SS : XD (FlaVi)
- CHN SS : WD (Vita/Lilyana)
- JPN SS : MD (Candra Wijaya)
- FRA SS : XD (FlaVi)
Still hope INA will get another title through MS or MD (especially the World Champ).

Congratz to LCW for his 3rd SS title, one title behind LD. Next stops, CHN and HKG SS more interesting to watch when this two bests hunt 2 SS titles remain...

I was quite surprised to see Vita play and attack from the back which I do not think Zhang Yawen would do that....she did play well and luckily that Flandy did not mess up the net play...when I was in DO, they played so bad against He Hanbin/Yu Yang....on last point, I was shocked that XZB could not return her smash to end the game.........anyway..hope they will play like that...

Zhang ya wen , Gao Ling, Yu Yang plus Zhao Ting Ting can master XD and WD.......the question is if they have enough stamina to play tough super series........
