Why Indonesian players not come? I think this tournament also good to add their points, mainly for 2nd layer players in Pelatnas than they lost to top player in preliminary round at Kejurnas......

yeah, Allan Tai is ex BAM. discarded in the same batch with Ismail Saman, Sairul Amar Ayob and Ong Ewe Hock. I'm not sure if he was really given the chance to prove himself back then before they downsized the squad.

Looks like he's finally back with some hot steam in his engine. watch out anyone in his way.

Notable recent results :-
1) This year Kedah Open dragged Yeoh Kay Bin to full rubber sets.
2) I think he took a World Chinese title last year by beating a China Player. Not sure which age category.

His technique is very sound... and he is fast, very fast.
Not surprisingly, he grabbed a game from the maestro (21-16) :)

If I were Arif, I'd work on my blocks (which were rather wayward) and my smashes (for both punch and angle). He appears to be hitting the shuttle when it's right above him... instead of when it's in front of him. :)

I agreed with you that Arif is a talent player whom one day will represent my beloved team Malaysia. He has good skills but he needs to improve on his stamina to prevent him from getting cramps and injuries during match. I believe that he will learn from his experiences in the tournament that he participated. From a small boy is my eyes when I saw him play at the age of 14 now he has proved that he one of my future heroes.

I also had meet him before. Actually I met him when he was 14.He played for the junior team. I am one of the Arif fan who will always be by his side in shine or rain. I hope that he will make the greater impact to our National Team. As Arif has said before that he will try to be in the National Squad in 3 years time. Let's pray that Arif will make us proud of him.

At 16, Taufik Hidayat won the Brunei Open.
At 18, he won the Indonesian Open and also played in the Sudirman Cup.
At 19, he won the Asian Badminton Championship, the Malaysian Open and the Indonesian Open (again). Of course, he also played in the Thomas Cup (which Indonesia won).

At 18, Lin Dan won the Korea Open and reached the semifinals of the All England Open.
At 19, he won the Denmark Open, the China Open and the Hong Kong Open, was the runner-up at the German Open and reached the semifinals of the Singapore Open.

Closer home to Arif, Lee Chong Wei too started early.
4 days past his 21st birthday, he reached the semifinals of the India Satellite Championships. A month later, he won the Malaysia Satellite Championships - his first major crown.
As a 21 year old, he also made it to the quarterfinals at the Thailand Open and Korea Open before winning the Malaysia Open in July. Unfortunately, he missed making a mark at the 2004 Olympics.

So, what is Arif waiting for?
If he can take a game off Taufik, he should be good enough to lock horns with the best out there. :cool:

Cos there's a seniority system, Arif knows that better than we do. His older brothers - Zakry(senior MD team with Fairuz) and Razif (back-up squad, MD with Khoo) are in the sport too.

Razif/Khoo are older than Arif, still in back-up squad. Of course that cos our senior MD team has many good pairs. 6 in total, Hoon will get new partner after CCM retire,only one slot to be filled.

Before Arif, there's Tan CS - aka Monkey who's already 21 but still in Back-up squad (under Rashid Sidek). Tan CS has won a few satellite tourneys.
And Chan KB= 20 years old, improving but not quite there yet. Definitely, Tan CS would be the 1st to be considered in promotion to national/senior squad.

Of course, if Arif is exteremely outstanding and there's no others more senior than him, like LCW's time.....

I think Arif put the target for 3 years so that he will not pressure himself too much. I believe that he needs to be in the back-up squad to gain more experiences in dealing with pressure in higher level matches. I agreed with eaglehelang that he needs time in order to rise to occasion as he has many outstanding players to challenge him.

It is common that the players will encounter ups and down. It is a process of learning and experiencing for the players and I hope that they will move to the greater heights. I always tell the juniors do not give up always believe in themselves whenever I met them in the junior tournament held in Singapore.

It is the good indicator that they lost to the junior so that they can sharpen their skills during training. I believe that the coach will look on this matter and try to make them ready for Sea Game in Korat in December. Good day for us as we are champion in MX, MS, MD and WD. Chun Seang on course to win third title of the year
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s top back-up shuttler Tan Chun Seang is one step away from winning his third men’s singles satellite title this year.
Yesterday, he took 30 minutes to beat compatriot Chong Wei Feng 21-7, 21-19 in the semi-finals of the Rakan Muda Yonex Sunrise Malaysia International Challenge at the KBA Badminton Hall in Alor Star.
Just a week ago, Chun Seang lost to fellow national back-up player Chong Li Qun in the second round of the Vietnam Open in Hanoi. But this time, there was no such setback.
In today’s final, the Korat SEA Games-bound Chun Seang will take on KLRC Bhd’s Sairul Amar Ayob, who downed former international Allan Tai 21-12, 21-10 in the other semi-final.
Chun Seang has won the Vietnam International Challenge (May) and the Asian Satellite meet in (June).
There were, however, upsets in the men’s doubles competition.
Two senior pairs – Gan Teik Chai-Lin Woon Fui and Chew Choon Eng-Hong Chieng Hun – were shown the exit by the nation’s back-up shuttlers.

Sairul overcomes SEA Games-bound Chun Seang for title

ALOR STAR: KLRC Bhd's Sairul Amar Ayob finally nailed his first international title this year, winning the Rakan Muda Yonex Sunrise Malaysia International Challenge at the Kedah BA Hall here yesterday.
And the 27-year-old former national player achieved it in a convincing fashion – blowing away the country's top back-up shuttler Tan Chun Seang 21-13, 21-14 in just 30 minutes.
It was Sairul's first international title since winning the Dutch Open last November.
The top seeded Sairul was happy that en route to lifting the title, he defeated three players who will feature in the SEA Games next month. Besides Chun Seang, Sairul also downed Chan Kwong Beng in the third round. In the quarter-finals, he beat Thai Tanongsak Sansomboonsuk.
“It may be a small tournament but I had the satisfaction of beating three SEA Games players,” said Sairul.
“I had expected a stronger fight from Chun Seang. The win here will certainly help me in my bid to get back among the top 20 in the world rankings (he is currently in 28th spot)”.
The KLRC Bhd also pocketed a second title through top seeds Lim Pek Siah-Haw Chiou Hwee in the women's doubles. They beat SEA Games-bound Goh Liu Ying-Ng Hui Lin 23-21, 19-21, 21-11.
It was also a disappointing day for the SEA Games representatives in the women's singles and mixed doubles and men’s doubles events. Julia Wong, Tan Wee Kiong-Woon Khe Wei and Mohd Razif Abdul Latif-Khoo Chung Chiat lost in their finals.
