View Full Version : Badminton shop in Singapore Lao Liu 09-02-2001, 03:51 AM I will be grateful if players in Singapore could recommand addresses of badminton shops in Singapore, in which I can get ti10 around $150. mustafa 09-02-2001, 07:46 AM For $160 you can go to Bras Basah Complex, Ranking Sports on the 3rd floor. Becker 09-02-2001, 07:54 PM Hi ! mustafa Please the prices of the rackets in Singapore : mp 100 mp 77 iso ti swing power iso swing power 900 ti 10 ti8 ti7 iso 600 Thanks! Gladius 09-03-2001, 01:56 AM Here's what I know off hand: mp 100 - SG$165 mp 77 - SG$165 iso ti swing power - SG$160 iso swing power 900 -No hope ... hard to find! ti 10 - SG$145 ti8 -SG$ 135 ( maybe less ) ti7 - ?? iso 600 - SG$79 with BG-66 strings thrown in You can go to Bras Basah ( Pronounced 'Brazz Ber-sa' ) Complex. Music Room on the ground floor, Zenith Sports and Ranking Sports on the 3rd storey. For the latter 2, you may need to bargain a little. The first shop has the prices labelled already, no bargaining entertained. Becker 09-03-2001, 02:30 AM Thanks ! Gladius According to the prices you quoted, the prices in Singapore are lower than Hong Kong. No need to buy rackets in H..K. for foreigners. Lao Liu 09-03-2001, 05:22 AM Thanks a lot, Gladius! Gladius 09-03-2001, 10:52 AM No problem ! The shops are quite ok, just note that the stringing done in Ranking Sports is pretty sucky ... ! modious 09-03-2001, 05:05 PM IMO, it sucks big time!! mustafa 09-03-2001, 09:16 PM I agree! It SUX BIG TIME! Gladius 09-03-2001, 11:57 PM Hahaha .... well, never thought it was that bad !!! :P Lao Liu 09-04-2001, 05:44 AM Are their rackets pre-strung? If they are 'sucks', I will buy them without string and do them myself. Your guys are really helpful. mustafa 09-04-2001, 07:29 PM Yes! You better do that! : ) Budi 09-05-2001, 04:44 AM there's also another shop on the ground floor called IT @ work Byro-Nenium 09-05-2001, 08:46 AM The stringing at IT @ Work seems quite good. The stringing at Music Book Room is good Gladius 09-05-2001, 12:24 PM Yes, Music Room's stringing is quite good. Tension is pretty even and holds well after breaking in the strings. Just that they do not put enough wax at stringing like Kemin does and strings wear in a little before even breaking in ! But not bad at all a place to string. Lao Liu 09-22-2001, 02:44 AM I am back with two MP100SP rackets for SG$170 each, thanks for the pointers from everyone. mustafa 09-22-2001, 04:51 AM $170?? Hmmm... how do I say this? "You wuz robbed of $10!", unless they include stringing, of course. modious 09-23-2001, 08:29 AM You can definately get them slightly cheaper than that!! Anyway, I thought you were getting a Ti-10?? Lao Liu 09-23-2001, 01:15 PM Changed my mind at last minute. I intended to get another ti10 as a spare, but couldn't resist the temptation of trying out the MP100. I managed to find MP100 at the 4th shop I visited. I guess S$170 isn't the best price. Not very surprising since I am a non-local buyer. Have strung my new MP100 with BG66 at 22-24 lbs. I felt that mp100 is considerably less head-heavy than ti10. Of course, need time to have a real taste. Cheers! modious 09-23-2001, 10:26 PM I see! I'm curious, which shop did you purchase your racket from? And which shop did you got your racket strung at? ET 09-24-2001, 01:14 AM haha....You have done that! Lao Liu 09-24-2001, 04:46 AM It was one of the shops on the 3rd floor (Ranking Sports?) at the Bras Basah Complex. I bought them without string and strung them myself after I got back. I noticed the shop at the ground floor, stringing there was done by amatures, looked way off my league. Thanks for the tip of not stringing there. I was not impressed by all four shops (3 in the complex) I visited on their technique of stringing, frankly. Your guys in Singapore need to be more selective about where to get your rackets strung and by whom. Otherwise, all the benefits of having top range rackets will be diminished. Another thing, don't forget to get some cash handy if you want to buy things there, credit card is no good. Gladius 10-06-2001, 12:14 PM Lao Liu, actually, I don't know whats your definition of good stringing technique or are you referring to good stringing equipment? For that matter, actually the 2 shops on the ground floor have better stringing techinique than the other 2 on the 3rd floor. My guess is that " I was not impressed by all four shops (3 in the complex) I visited on their technique of stringing, frankly. " meant minimalist equipment ? Or do you mean you actually spent the time to watch them do stringing? Please do not equate quality of stringing with quantity of equipment used. I have visted shops which have expensive computer controlled stringing machines and their strings sucked big time after I strung them ... and it lasted only half as long as my regular one which uses the 'normal' hand pull machines. Am I correct on my guess ? pom 10-21-2001, 01:47 PM In THAILAND mp 100 - SG$136 mp 77 - SG$108 iso ti swing power - SG$130 iso swing power 900 -No hope ... hard to find! ti 10 - SG$1135 ti8 -SG$ 116 ( maybe less ) ti7 - SG$108 iso 750 - SG$ 125 benz86 08-22-2006, 12:40 AM hi anyone know where is the location (street, etc) of a shop in queensway?
