As a fan of Kido/Hendra, its also quite depressing to see Japanese pairs (which Kido/Hendra never have problems with so far), Luluk/Alvent, and now a Chinese-Taipei pair (who got beaten by both Luluk/Alvent and AG/Hendra) capable of upsetting Koo/Tan, and yet, Kido/Hendra never even capable of forcing a close match in all their encounters this year :crying:

They should study how these pairs manage to beat Koo/Tan :cool:

KKK/TBH have the tendency to lose to lower ranked pairs or unknown players.....however....it's not really a problem for them to beat top pairs like MK/HS....Maybe they are too overconfident and underestimate their opponents...if that's the case, they had better learned their lesson.

my report on Malaysia's performance today:




Day 2 of the China Open proceeded with marginally less upsets than day 1, although several major hiccups have emerged.

The most severe hiccup was that of the departure of first seeds and world number 1 Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in the hands of a relatively unknown Taiwanese pair in two tame sets. It seems that even the first round opponent of the Taiwanese were able to put up a better fight, going down in 3 tight sets. Instead, the hot favorites for the title shockingly went down tamely to this relative unknown. The emerging trend in this pair is that they have no problem in sweeping past known seeded pairs, while relative unknowns seem to trouble them. Lack of respect or psychological weakness, I am sure doubles coach Rexy Manaiky will address this problem. Hopefully he will be successful.

Hafiz Hashim's comeback to the elite club of shuttlers seem to have taken a heavy blow today. With the departure of top seed Lin Dan, Hashim's path to the quarterfinals could not have been any easier. However, Hashim lost to Korean Park Sung Hwan, Lin Dan's conquerer in 3 sets despite leading crucially in the 2nd and 3rd set; not being able to close up the game. With chance number 1 blown, Hashim better hope he performs more convincingly in Hong Kong next week.

There are some similarities too Fu/Cai in 1st round. For FU/Cai, like they're tired, dont have strength to chase the shuttle. In KKK/TBH case, more like they mentally tired, no strength to read the game.

Both KKK and TBH did say(KKK in his blog, TBH in in intv before leaving for China) their fitness level dropped a lot since European tour.

It's not the 1st time. But in other tourneys, at least one of them is in form. That's how they won Denmark Open. Watching the game, both seemed unfocused. There are some similarities too Fu/Cai in 1st round. For FU/Cai, like they're tired, dont have strength to chase the shuttle. In KKK/TBH case, more like they mentally tired, no strength to read the game.

Both KKK and TBH did say(KKK in his blog, TBH in in intv before leaving for China) their fitness level dropped a lot since European tour.

They had 3 game points at 20-17 to win the first game, only to see the Chinese-Taipei pair nailed 5 straight points and stole the first set 22-20.

Likewise, they held a 7-1 advantage early in the second set, only to see the lead evaporate and the Chinese-Taipei pair levelled it at 13-13. Once they did that, there was no turning back as Koo/Tan were only allowed to win 3 more points to end the game at 21-16.

If in that case Rexy should not hv send them to both CO and HKO, whats the point letting them go with such poor form? These humiliating defeats might further damage their confidence

1) They need to earn Olympic points. Same with pairs from other countries, they are also tired. Just those who crashed put early rounds in previous tournaments have more time to rest compared to top pairs.

2) LCW also went for all tourneys, he doesnt seem tired, maybe used to it .
3) WMC said her fitness level drop a lot from so many tourneys but still managed to beat Pi from France. BUT that's WS and MS.

My conclusion : It seems to affect MD pairs more, they are more or less same level, must be in top form all the time, cant drop.

but now let we concentrate on the their next tournament...

1) Rexy's from Indonesia, so he knows how to beat them and teach his players the needed strategies. + there are 6 Msia MD pairs mah. Sure to meet one of them along the tourney.

2) Rexy & other coaches have discussed and found ways to beat China pairs.

I believe that the main reasons for Koo/Tan's loss are that they are mentally and physically fatigue, and lack of preparation on unknown pairs. I don't think they were overconfidence and underestimated their opponents.

Anyway, we still have two pairs of men's doubles made it to the QF, likely SF.:)

Actually TBH look uncomfortable like he always is when facing the media. True, KKK look down only, he felt bad. Anyway, from highlights can see clearer that both of them look fatigued while the Taiwan pair fired up.
