thanks robin for starting the thread.
the match of the day though, is Chen Hong vs. Taufik Hidayat for obvious reasons. we will see how that match pans out as how Taufik plays is really dependent on his mood.
i hope to be there to watch it and maybe record it if possible. not sure though. we will see how it goes.
badMania 11-26-2007, 10:32 AM TUESDAY
12:50pm Tadashi Ohtsuka/Satoko Suetsuna vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [4] -- Flandy is still not fit yet, but, they should beat the Japanese pair.
1:30pm Wong Man Ching/Lam Sin Ying vs Jo Novita/Greysia Polii -- another breeze for Jo/Greysia.
2:10pm Taufik Hidayat [6] vs Chen Hong -- undoubtedly MOTD and Taufik has the slight edge.
3:30pm Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya [6] vs Chien Yu-Shun/Lin Yu-Lang -- on paper, Tony/Candra should win this one , but, Chinese-Taipei pairs have lately shown great improvements and created waves of upsets last week
robin7 11-26-2007, 10:45 AM thanks robin for starting the thread.

badMania 11-26-2007, 10:42 PM The Danish pair stole the second set 22-20 . However, they trail Zheng/Gao 7-11 at the interval of the rubber-set.
badMania 11-26-2007, 10:43 PM Looks like Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg are also losing early in Hong Kong.....
CLELY 11-26-2007, 10:43 PM Seems hard opening match for XD top-seed Zheng/Gao, losing 2nd game to Dane pair 20-22.

Misty100 11-27-2007, 12:15 AM aiya Louisa, you called that on fire kah? Against a weaker opponent, World No. 1 (ah-che) worrrrr... if she wins by a closer margin, she should have consider herself a failure.

Louisa 11-27-2007, 12:17 AM aiya Louisa, you called that on fire kah? Against a weaker opponent, World No. 1 (ah-che) worrrrr... if she wins by a closer margin, she should have consider herself a failure.
yup, i consider that as on fire. Why? hmm, if xxf is against me...even if the score is 21:1, 21:1, i consider a failure for her. But this is international arena, so, based on the score, i would say she is on fire.
I think, her opponent today even able to trash me 21:1, 21:1.
well-son 11-27-2007, 12:22 AM yup, i consider that as on fire. Why? hmm, if xxf is against me...even if the score is 21:1, 21:1, i consider a failure for her. But this is international arena, so, based on the score, i would say she is on fire.

On the other hands, I want TH to go far so badly.
madbad 11-27-2007, 12:39 AM Seems like it took CJ the loss of a game to snap him out of his daydream. More likely the fatigue from the CO was the main factor. Easy rubber game in the end.
madbad 11-27-2007, 12:40 AM CH is getting manhandled by TH. Can't believe this is happening.
robin7 11-27-2007, 12:40 AM TH rushed to 5-0 lead. TH must be very determined to meet LD in QF.

Misty100 11-27-2007, 12:55 AM Must be from the inspirational preformance of WMC, which is so encouraging for the whole MAS team, even the Juniors are performing well, though they lost, but the scoreline is not that bad.

Erwin Kyoto 11-27-2007, 01:02 AM CH vs. TH match was under-expectation. CH just didn't have the hunger to win. but at least both players seems to be having fun in the court.

Misty100 11-27-2007, 01:08 AM I think KKK/TBH is just toying around in the 2nd set, or rather used it as a practise match after winning the 1st easily. I think they will win, if they want to in straight games, just ignore the scoreline.
robin7 11-27-2007, 01:08 AM Koo/Tan must be careful not lose the 2nd game...
2 more pts to seal the match....

Misty100 11-27-2007, 01:15 AM Wow, I just read about it, LCW gets RM15K incentive/monthly for keeping himself in no. 1 or 2 in the world ranking. I think KKK and TBH also get that same amount. And they get to keep their prize money too... :p
it's a first rounder, i doubt they would show it on tv
i have it on my camcorder. very boring match though.

Misty100 11-27-2007, 01:20 AM The much hyped match of CH vs TH turned out to be a one-sided anti-climax.
pjswift 11-27-2007, 01:20 AM End of the road to CH... he should just follow ZM and WC, represent HKG instead. Then he won't need to heed to any request from the higher stinking officials from CHN.
Good riddance, CH.If you are playing to be a CHN pawn, retire now or you will be disgraced later and remembered with disgust.Quit now while the impression is still ok but starting to rot.
sweetlover 11-27-2007, 01:24 AM why i cant open tournament software???

Too early prediction, I think. It's not so easy for TH to beat LD.
Both of them are very hungry, for the title....
carine 11-27-2007, 01:33 AM PARK leading 12-10 now
robin7 11-27-2007, 01:33 AM PSH regains the lead 13-10. Go go....
NUMBER1 11-27-2007, 01:33 AM I think KKK/TBH is just toying around in the 2nd set, or rather used it as a practise match after winning the 1st easily. I think they will win, if they want to in straight games, just ignore the scoreline.

Misty100 11-27-2007, 01:56 AM WPT/CEH tore the MJ apart, leading so far 17 : 4
FCY/MHY won 1st set against Thai WD pair 21 : 14
CW/TG won first set 21 : 13 over Taiwanese MD
Misty100 11-27-2007, 01:58 AM So, what's happening after the last match of WPT/CEH vs MJ? That's the last match reflected on tournamentsoftware.
robin7 11-27-2007, 02:14 AM Fong/Mooi are still fighting hard with Thai pair as they are trailing 7-9 in the decider. Not a good sign...
Wong/Chin thrashed the juniors in straight sets.
during 2-3rd game interval, one of the thai girls instead of listening to the coach, she was listening to Saralee who shouted instructions across the court. haha.
badMania 11-27-2007, 02:40 AM Not a bad day for Team INA as Jo Novita/Greysia Polii thrashed their opponent 21-8, 21-9 in 18 mins, while Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya also beat the tricky Chinese-Taipei pair 21-13, 21-16 in just 20 mins. They will face either Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock or Simon Mollyhus/Anders Kristiansen in R16. Meanwhile, Jo/Greysia will face possibly the top-seed Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen on Thursday.
The biggest news is of course Taufik Hidayat triumphing easily over Chen Hong 21-11, 21-13 in an anti-climax match. He will face another tough tie in Park Sung Hwan on Thursday.
More actions to follow tomorrow with 7 matches involving INA players in R32.
Smichz 11-27-2007, 02:53 AM Great run by the indonesians..hope that they can keep their paces..
eaglehelang 11-27-2007, 02:57 AM WOW, Tony/Chandra trashed the Taiwan pair in just 20 minutes. In Japan, they trashed the Japanese pair that beat KKK/TBH in WC. The Malaysian MD should learn from Tony/Chandra, must be something in they game plan that works.
eaglehelang 11-27-2007, 03:13 AM Wow, I just read about it, LCW gets RM15K incentive/monthly for keeping himself in no. 1 or 2 in the world ranking. I think KKK and TBH also get that same amount. And they get to keep their prize money too... :p
For Doubles is it shared? The prize money is - for SS MD usually is USD14,400 for winner, shared between the two players (I think)
Anyway, sad to think Malaysia women players only get RM8k, half of what the men gets if they are World top 2. No wonder we often hear of female players are quiting and gone to full time study after they finish their junior career.
Hopefully BAM is successful in changing that,WMC's win have made inroads. With a female sports minister who's very supportive of women in sports, our female players may get better support/incentive.

I guess it's fair...males should get more than females as males have more financial responsibilities to shoulder than females

eaglehelang 11-27-2007, 04:02 AM I guess it's fair...males should get more than females as males have more financial responsibilities to shoulder than females
Not in these modern times where there are many single mothers(divorced, widowed, etc). Statistics show many men leave their families and leave the wife to shoulder responsibilities of the family. Often times, it's the daughter who end up taking care of aged parents - both financially and physically.
It's called Equal Opportunity. How would you feel if at work you only get paid half for doing the same work, shouldering the same pressure, just because of your gender, not due to ability.
In any case, beefing up the women's department is good as a whole. At least more junior players see a future as WS or WD. Before, they think the great wall cant be penetrated.

LOL, LOL, and more LOL. Of course I'm sensitive new age- I happen to be female, just not a young teenager like most of you. So, of course, I wouldnt tolerate that type of opinion, to put it mildly. I cant imagine what the other female BC members would say when they read Indra's post.
2) And being somewhat older also made me more forgiving to our young players - when I was 18 - 22, dont think I could have withstood the pressure our players go thru.
3) Also Reading between the lines, seeing things under the surface/bridge/whatever the proverb, not face value comes with errrr much 'real world' experience, in terms of PR, office politics, how to cope and counter. Sounds like Shu Tze art of war eh?

Is not about fairness, is all about MONEY! More money to the men because most people likes to watch the men games. Like tennis the women games is catching up so do their prize money :)

they played pretty well actually. the Taiwanese pair didn't have much response to them. Tony/Candra was pretty consistent, but not as powerful and fast as they used to be.
