See, your frustration is really unnecessary.
I do agree; but the second set admittedly had a lot of BC-ers on the edge. :)

I agree bad calls would affect a player's performance. However I don't see obvious bad calls in the first game. And Wrong calls always happen which should be expected by any playes.
Secondly, it was not players fault for the bad calls, and it is unreasonable to say Chinese players won only because they had favorable conditions - they didn't win all the titles at home. In fact they won only two this time.
I am not saying that what the referees did was right. I just want BCL to receive fair treatments from spectators. After all, he did nothing wrong. Fair enough?
No bad calls in first game? Maybe you need to go for eye check or cognitive immersion (training to think sharper).
If there were no poison used in MSF, CHN may have won only 1 title, not 2. CHN used to win more in the past. What do you think is happening to CHN? Why is CHN a walkover specialist?

I am just wondering why did they let the second game go - is it for sake of "strategy"? But Rexy always encourages a fast finish, none of the fancy shots or dilly-dallying or whatsoever. Guess I'll be left wondering about this.
Apparently Guo's the one injured, not Xie.

Snippets from yesterdays highlights (Sorotan Harian):
1) Intv with LWW on injury : sustained hamstring/muscle pull on thigh in China Open. Same leg as his knee injury. Was hoping for it to heal, didnt heal as fast as expected.
2) Intv with Rexy on Zakry/Fairuz lost to Fu/Cai : In 2nd set, Fu/Cai play safe (the audio not clear this part, I think that's what Rexy meant), Zakry/Fairuz also play safe, then lost.
3) Intv with Yap Kim Hock on WMC 1st round lost : WMC have improved a lot, performance good but just need to learn how to be world class player, since she's now reach that standard,
WMC needs to learn also how to beat unseeded players. Pretty much what he said to The Star newspaper too.

It was a long day and I did watch a few match at the QES.
First was the MD match between Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto and Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen. Me, fastdrop, and huangkwokhau were seated right at the second row near the court where Luluk/Alvent were playing. Later on, our big boss here kwun also came and joined us in watching Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Yeoh Kay Bin.
The MD match was neck-to-neck in the first set, with Eriksen/Hansen making crucial service errors late in the game and that costed them the first set. They were making a strong charge early in the second game and led 8-2 before Luluk's turn to serve. His serves yielded 5 points and levelled the score at 8-8. Then, at 13-13, it was Luluk's turn to serve yet again and this time round, the INA pair managed to get 6 quick points to make it 19-13. The INA pair eventually sealed the match 21-19, 21-14. They have a big chance tomorrow against the tricky Polish pair Michal Logosz/Robert Mateusiak.
Up next in the same court was Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Yeoh Kay Bin. The Malaysian player tried hard to match Sony, but, Sony proved to be too strong for him. Sony won quite comfortably in straight sets 21-17, 21-13 and will play Chen Jin tomorrow.
It was break time since there were no more INA players involved till 6pm. So, I went out to have an early dinner with Hendrawan. In the night session, there were 4 more matches, with 3 matches being played at 6pm and 6:45pm. When I got in, Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir already won the first set 21-6, but, the scores were pretty tight in the second set against Fang Chieh-Min/Cheng Wen-Hsing. I was quite impressed with Fang, with his powerful and effective smashes that won a number of points. The Chinese Taipei pair managed to force a rubber-set, winning the second set 23-21. The early stage of the third set was a tight affair too until the score was 8-8. Then, Nova/Butet upped the tempo and eventually won the set comfortably 21-13. The INA pair will face their nemesis Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl tomorrow. Remember, the Danish pair has beaten them twice recently, in the Chinese Taipei and French Opens.
Up next were Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa vs Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama/Chau Hoi Wah and Jo Novita/Greysia Polii vs Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen. The WD match was predictable as Jo/Greysia lacked Wei/Zhang's skill and power. The first set was won easily by the Chinese pair. The INA pair improved in the second set and played some nice badminton, but, it was still not enough as they lost 10-21, 16-21.
The XD match turned out to be more like a practice match for the INA pair. They were not really giving their 100% and looked like saving their energy for the more important QF match tomorrow  The Hong Kong pair was leading 18-16 in the first set before the INA pair stepped up a gear and won the last 5 points of the set. The second set was similar, with the INA pair contented on having a slender lead. The HKG pair nearly came close and managed to force a deuce at 20-20, but, it was not to be as the INA pair was way too experienced and they won it 21-16, 22-20. Flandy/Vita will face another Korean pair Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung, who were impressive in beating Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms in straight-sets.
The last match I watched was the MD match between Tadashi Ohtsuka/Keita Masuda and Lee Jae Jin/Hwang Ji Man, together with Alvent, Kido and Hendra. The Japanese pair was much improved than the last time I watched them  They were actually leading 17-10 in the first set before Lee Jae Jin decided to retire due to injury. Later on, I saw the Korean player's foot heavily strapped with icepack. The Japanese pair will play Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan tomorrow. Should be a manageable match, but, the World Champion better don't underestimate their opponent.

In conclusion, only those who are not playing any matches in the following round can be "injured".
In this case, only Guo Zhengdong is "qualified" to be "injured" while Xie Zhongbo is not as he needs to play mixed doubles with Zhang Yawen.
It seems reasonable and fair, right?

So the partner that plays in 1 event more likely to get injured than the one who plays in 2 events? The less a CHN player plays, the more he gets injured. Or the more a CHN player plays , the less he gets injured?
Not quite logical because LYB said his players needed to compete less so decided to pull out of SS Masters.
Oh, dear, LDQ, pls warn LYB his players may get injured more if they play less.

Some of the highlight reports from rtm2:
1) Chin Ee Hui/Wong Pei Tty vs. Maeda/Suetsuna - Someone mentioned an injury - nerve inflammation but I didn't pay attention to who was the one that said it...probably Chin as she was more injury-prone.
2) Roslin vs Bao - the commentator said something about Roslin making Bao run all over the court (asakan demi asakan) and Bao (cuba bertahan) eventually had to retire because of injury. Roslin said he felt confident after the match with Lee Hyun Il - wanted revenge against Lee Hyun Il and he also wanted to avenge his defeat to Bao therefore he just played his hardest.
3) Yoyo Hafiz vs Kenneth Jonassen - Hafiz managed to lead at first but eventually lost to Sony - at one point conceding 8 points in a row. Misbun was interviewed and said that strategy was formed after the first set but Hafiz was slow in responding in the second set - hadn't recovered from his fever last night. Misbun said that even if Hafiz had won the first set, he didn't think Hafiz would be able to win a three-setter. Misbun thought that the match between Roslin and Kenneth tomorrow can go either way - will be a good fight. Roslin is more physical and Kenneth depended on the power of his arms. Roslin needs to be quick in returning rallies and he will be able to have an edge over Kenneth.
4) Yeoh Kay Bin vs Sony Dwi Kuncoro - I got distracted by my noisy little sister so that I didn't really know what was going on...something about an overhead smash being the winning point, I think. x.x
Ad-break now...probably just Lee Chong Wei + KKK/TBH highlights left, me thinks.

Continued highlights reporting from rtm2:
5) Lin Dan vs Shoji Sato - Lin played his usual best with his signature smashes etc and won quite easily to advance to quarter-finals. And he will meet Taufik Hidayat.
6) Taufik Hidayat vs Park Sung Hwan - Experience of World Champion and Olympic Champion prevailed over Park Sung Hwan. His challenge lies ahead in the quarter-finals facing Lin Dan.
7) Ong Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock vs Chandra Wijaya/Tony Gunawan - The Indo/US pair too experienced for the Malaysian pair - every smash they attempt to make were returned by Chandra/Tony - especially Tony who is really good at the net, managed to thwart the Malaysians' attempts to score.
8) Lim Khim Wah/Mak Hee Chun vs Michal Logosz/Robert Mateusiak - The speedy attacks by the Polish pair were too much for the young Malaysians to handle and their defense eventually fell through. The Polish pair will meet Luluk/Alven.
No highlights shown from KKK/TBH and Lee Chong Wei - I'm surprised. Or maybe they showed it at the very beginning and I missed it!? I keep getting distracted anyway. :P

(2) Roslin wrapped up the 1st game with a smash down the line into Chunlai's backhand and it was amazing. The highlight showed Roslin played aggressively while Chunlai was on the defense.
(4) Kay Bin said that he was a bit disappointed and it was his worst match against Sony so far.
Woke up this morning and took a quick glance on the scoreline, this is my opinion on few of the selected matches:
WD : Maeda/Suetsuna bt Wong/Chin:
Is about time this Malaysian pair show some consistency, can't beat the Chinese pair is understandable but now the one with lower ranking too!! Sad to say Cheah Soon Kit has been in charge for so long and yet no significant results are produced, ... How much longer do we need to wait?
MS : Roslin vs Bao :
I think Bao body is not build to play the style that brought him the title in China Open, everyone likes to play like Lin Dan but the degree of difficulty is so high hence the potential injury. I hope he recover soon.
Lu Lan vs Yao Jie:
What happen to Yao Jie? I use to think she is one of the top female players that can really challenge the Chinese but judging from her recent performance, I don't think she will even be a dark horse in any Open.
MS : Taufik Hidayat vs Park Sung Hwan:
Park reminds me of younger Lee Chong Wei, so content with his defense and neglect other importance ingredients of success in 21-point system, ATTACK. With Li Mao as his "see fu"(coach), I am yet to see any trace of Li Mao trademark in Park's plays, really strange.
MD : Wijaya/Gunawan vs Tan/Ong :
Only got 5 point in game 2? I think Kwun and I most probably can get more than that after Satay negotiating with this legend pair. I never understood the make up of this pair, both players lack of smashing power yet team up as a pair, Rexy must be drunk!
WS : Eriko Hirose vs Zhou Mi :
Why Zhou Mi couldn't win after the free walk from Wang Chen is really beyond our imagination especially Hirose just came back from injury. We may blame team China for those strategic walks but at least they know how to capitalize those walks!
MS : Jonassen vs Hafiz:
Now I am convince, Hafiz should not be send to Olympic. Send someone who really work hard and really want to win(Choon Hann and Roslin fit into that category). Downgrade Hafiz stock to "under-perform" and stop sending him to SS tournament. Hafiz confident needs to rebuild.
WS : Jun Jae Youn vs Zhang Ning :
It will be interesting if China only have 2 qualifiers for Olympic, will Zhang Ning still be selected as one of them? I think NOT if her performance continues to slide.

Woke up this morning and took a quick glance on the scoreline, this is my opinion on few of the selected matches:
MD : Wijaya/Gunawan vs Tan/Ong :
Only got 5 point in game 2? I think Kwun and I most probably can get more than that after Satay negotiating with this legend pair. I never understood the make up of this pair, both players lack of smashing power yet team up as a pair, Rexy must be drunk!
MS : Jonassen vs Hafiz:

.
MD, Tan BS/OngSC - Ong supposed to have powerful smashes but I dunno if his shoulder injury caused him to slow down like CCM. This pair was benched for 8 months last year when Ong injured his shoulder.
They were paired up since their junior days. I think Rexy didnt a reshuffle cos : 1) All the other pairs already reshuffle, left TBS/OSH and the oldies, CTF/LWW. CTF/LWW have been together for years, in top 10 ranking, no use risking Oly points by changing partners. 2) Rexy wanted to give them time after Ong came back.
Hafiz- Misbun should send him to smaller tourneys, let Hafiz start from scratch again.

I am confused here. HH is from Nusa Mahsuri, his coach is Misbun. And LCW is also coached by the same guy. So, Misbun is under which payroll? The Club or NSC . And did he even got the rights to choose which tounys that HH shall participate

How i envy you that you actually CAN watch the tournaments!!!
Why dont you just record matches and share them??!!
So mane thanks would be completely yours.

Not really! There were three medics. But they couldn't even remember his name that well! But they only had the one person to attend to so it was pretty obvious who it was.
I know the medics pretty well. Kwun didn't believe it was true that there was a problem. I went back to the medics and asked them if there was any possibility of a fake. They said 'no' because the ankle was pretty swollen. There was even a possibility of more serious ligament damage. All the three medics are orthopaedic doctors.
Kwun had to believe me after that.:D

But Guo only played 1 match against INA MD #3 .Won in straight sets in 32 mins. How tough is that? And these are pros? CM, Guo also injured just thinking of meeting cai/fu?
Anyone knows how to inflict a swollen ankle on demand? Not difficult when there's a need to. Are we idiots or the medics?

This is not your first time showing your biased.
And with a simple jokes, you come out with so many evil ideas that we Malaysian never thought of it, but only yourself. who underestimated who, who have no respects for other and who puih at others.
Haihhh, you are the reason why Rexy rather not stay at Indonesia.
Well..ok,i get it.So,it's just a joke,ok..Maybe i was a lil bit on the emotions yesterday. All rite,my bad,..forgive me.:D:D:D..but i bet u will feel the same if others make fun/joke of ur player.Esp ur legends,ur idol, when ppl making fun of them just because they win less nowadays. At least u'd expect some respects from them,rite?..
i didn't expect much from u guys.If u can't have respect from others, then at least dont say anything that sounds underestimating them. Not much rite?
I bet..when i made a similar joke..some ppl would be upset like i was as well.So..my reaction is preety understandable, rite?
All rite..i am not looking for any further problems amongst us..if i was wrong about what i say, forgive me..
N as i said b4..Tony/Chandra beat Tan/Ong..21-12,21-5..yesterday.:)

Are we idiots or the medics?Let's put it this way. I know those medics. Between the three of them they've got roughly 40 years of medical experience altogether.
They do not follow badminton in such a fanatical sense and are not involved in the intricacies of the politics. They are volunteer medics. I've seen the circular inviting interested persons to be on the medical team to cover this event.
They only report what they can see and examine. I didn't see the mechanism of the injury so I cannot comment.
I mean, it's really easy to explain! I would do the same thing myself.
Initially, the injury may not hurt so much and there may not be significant swelling especially if you don't take off the shoe. So, if it happened in the 2nd game, why not carry on and see what happens - especially if you've won the first game.
Once the endorphins have worn off, more pain sets in. The swelling probably gets worse (because the footwear has been removed for a while). Your next match happens to be the world no.2 pairing - a pair where your chances were less than 50:50 even in the best of conditions.
DO you or would you risk aggravating your injury in a further match? Making it worse could put you out of action for more than 4 months in a vital run up to the Olympics which are 9/10 months away. Can you sacrifice so much time for just one match?
If it were me in that position, I would be very tempted to withdraw rather than risk more severe injury.

1 question. If guo/xie were facing non-CHN MD today, would Guo have played?

On the eve of the big tournament, the coach is deciding team strategy.
Player: So, do I play attacking or defensive?
Coach: Neither. You play injured.
No prizes for guessing the name of this coach. :p

I heard he might be directing the Opening Ceremony at the OG 2008.
Well, he might yet make a movie on, um, intrigue in badminton
It could be 'House Of Injured Players' starring You-Know-Who :D

If I not mistaken, Misbun under BAM payroll, that is NSC. Misbun is also consultant coach for Nusa Mahsuri. Jailani Sidek runs Nusa. Look at their website. Since Nusa only have 2 players - Hafiz & roslin....
I dont know how Misbun's contract goes but he has coaching this way for years.
Misbun also helps Rashid to coach some of the juniors - Tan CS, Chan KB.
Confusing eh? That was why LCW (and KBH) had a hard time getting the approval to change coach to Misbun. BAM wanted all senior BAM players train under same coach = Wong Tat Meng. Initially they said only for a couple of months as test, if ok till OG 2008.
About having the right to choose tourneys for Hafiz - sure he does, he's the coach mah. If any problem, Misbun just twist his younger bro's arm. ;) It's like Misbun helping both his younger brothers.
As for LCW, BAM pretty much gives Misbun a free hand. LCW accords much respect to Misbun, normally saying, "I discuss with my coach and see what he decides for me."
The history part, I think sonnymak might have better idea

Not possible. LCW's just being polite. It's like Spore's PM and President.PM makes the recommendations and Pres. just signs on them.
