View Full Version : Yonex Nanospeed 9000 X
WalzY 12-07-2007, 05:03 PM If anyone has a Yonex Nanospeed 9000 X and knows alot about badminton like myself, please leave comments on your thoughts on it, i.e. the strings it comes with: Yonex BG 65 Titanium (I don't know much about strings but I'm an aggressive player), the rather large grip (which i don't like), the flexibility of the shaft and the isometric light head.
I have this racquet myself and I bought it as my Armortec 800 Offensive was becoming worn down.
My opinion is that it's hard adjusting from the armortec, I prefer the armortec's thin grip compared to the Nanospeed 9000x's larger grip which doesn't suit my hand (I'd like to know if I can have it removed and replaced with a thinner grip). This affects the way I play slightly, as I like smashing and dominating the singles court but for some reason I feel that I can't swing and flick as effectively with the nanospeed 9000x as the armortec 800, maybe I just need to adjust to it?
Please leave your comments, i'll appreciate it alot!
Capnx 12-07-2007, 07:26 PM did you buy the correct grip size? Both AT800 and NS9000 come as G4 or G5 grips.
Optiblue 12-07-2007, 07:36 PM I personally bought this racquet new back in the summer in 3UG5. I've also tried a 3UG4. My other racquets are MP100 AT900P, and carlton Powerblades. I strung it to 30lbs with bg-80, didn't like it, restrung with bg-68ti, didn't like it. Initial feeling of this racquet is that it sucks since it's too stiff. It's not so much just the lack in flexibility, something about the different material makes the shots feel sort of disconnected as compared to my other racquets. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't buy the Type-S, but whatever, I'm sticking to the armortec series as it's an easy transistion from the Muscle Power series. When only one pro uses the Type-X, you just know that there's some issues to be sorted out. Ended up selling mine for dirt cheap since that's what that racquet meant to me, utter rubbish.
shaoyut 12-07-2007, 08:34 PM i have a 2u one it is hard getting used to but good at smashing i used bg 65 and now nbg 95
shaoyut 12-07-2007, 08:34 PM o yea and at 24 and 25 tension
WalzY 12-08-2007, 05:03 AM I've just found out that the flex is the same as my armortech 800 offensive, extra stiff and i like that or it's too whippy. However, when you say I could have bought it with two grip types - I can change it can't I!? I hope I didn't buy the racquet with a set grip, i.e. the handle is bigger? I really hope I can change the grip, and if I can what grip can I change it to? I want it smaller but I dunno about grip size =/.
Also, tension? I dunno about tension of strings, or strings themselves - all i heard was BG65 Ti was best for power (smashing) and has a nice balance between durability and bounce (found that on another part of forum about strings).

Really? LOL, 30lbs seems too high for BG80, did it last you for more than a day? :p

It lasted for more than a day~ that was before I cut them and gave bg-68ti a go and the results were pretty similar! It's all in the past now for me, so whoever's using the Type-X, I hope you can make it your main racquet as I didn't really give it a chance~
Badmintan 12-10-2007, 02:38 AM I have used this racquet for some time...with type-66 string @24 lbs tension. 3UG4
I feel this racquet is a bit weird in the beginning...but I got the hang of it.
I feel the lower tension suits this racquet better rather than high tension...as a powerful smash with this baby is difficult since the racquet is even balance...need to hit the sweetspot to hear the 'bang'.
The armotec 900 power is superior to NS9000X as armotec 900P is head heavy in terms of smash.
but the drop shots, drives and clears for NS9KX are very good....so I use it primarily for singles. The extra stiffness helps....as the control at net and shot placement is very important in singles...more importantly I can 'feel' the shot...but it's just my taste.
Another good point for this racquet is the easy maneuverability since it's even balance and therefore good for defense.
There's a review on this racquet already.

Badmintan 12-10-2007, 09:34 PM Correction: Nanospeed 9000 type X is head light balance.
Optiblue 12-10-2007, 09:50 PM I think Badmintan pretty much sumarizes this racquet up! :P
