MEN'S SINGLES
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [8] vs Lu Yi -- Andre will be the favorite to win the title tomorrow, however, Lu Yi has beaten Tommy and Alamsyah in succession. Andre needs to play aggressively and don't let Lu Yi catch up.

MEN'S DOUBLES
Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintaro Ikeda [1] vs Kristof Hopp/Ingo Kindervater [5] -- the Japanese pair deserves a title after a spectacular year, winning the bronze medal at the World Championships. They have really improved a lot under Park Joo Bong and a title will bring a sweet ending to to year.

WOMEN'S SINGLES
Xu Huaiwen [1] vs Wang Yihan -- tough to predict. Xu has the slight edge.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing [1] vs Du Jing/Yu Yang [3] -- the Chinese pair to win their second consecutive titles.

MIXED DOUBLES
He Hanbin/Yu Yang [1] vs Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk [2] -- the Chinese pair has an edge and they should win their 4th titles this year.

If the Poles win, badminton will become even more BIG in Eastern Europe, thus... better for world badminton! We will get more friends who don't want to throw badminton out of the Olympics...

Thus, we should all support the Polish pair!

Thus, we should all support the Polish pair!

Indeed...the Poles are traditionally strong in the doubles with Michal Logosz/Robert Mateusiak (ranked no 15, they beat Sigit Budiarto/Tri Kusharyanto in the Athens Olympics opening round match), Kamila Augustyn/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk (ranked no 21), Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk (ranked no 11). This year, Przemyslaw Wacha (according to Hau-Ge, pronounced as Wa-Ha) joined the crowd and becomes the highest ranked European player after the Danes (at no 14).

I heard that Equestrian is pretty big in Western Europe... but in most parts of the planet: Asia, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, Carribeans...and basically in almost all the major places where 5 billion humans live [out of the total 6 billion], Equestrian is a non-factor... :p

I completely agree with you! :D  :D This Animolympics might include dog-sleding, Karapan Sapi [Cow Race], etc...

Golf... on the other hand, deserve to be an Olympic sport and it would be extremely cool to have a Golf Men's and Women's champion... :D Individual [and maybe also team, if they have time]... ;) Now that's an Olympic sport worth following!

Andre forces a rubber with an attacking display in the second game as he takes it 21-11. 10 smashes+10 clear winners+1 net winner from Andre vs 0 smash+4 net winners+6 clear winners+ 1 unforced error for Lu Yi.

He needs to maintain his momentum for the rubber-game....come on Andre!

China has: Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai, Chen Jin, Chen Yu, Lu Yi etc...
Indonesia has: Taufik, Sony, Simon, Andre, Tommy, Wahyu, Alam, Rivai, etc...

China is very deep, but Indonesia is not too far behind... ;) Not too many other countries have Indonesia's depth in MS...

Oh... that's it China got 3 titles, Poland 1, Germany 1, INA zero...

To begin with, a title in Moscow will be a big bonus, given the competitive field :)

Nevertheless, its a good achievement by Andre Kurniawan Tedjono. Honestly, I never expected him to reach the Final, given that he has to beat Chen Yu.

Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki performed to expectation with a Semi-Final finish. Fransisca Ratnasari and Alamsyah Yunus exceeded every expectation by reaching the Semi-Final, losing to the eventual champion.

A host of other players like Tommy Sugiarto, Ari Yuli Wahyu Hartanto, Anggun Nugroho/Tantowi Akhmad, Anggun Nugroho/Nathalia Christine Poluakan did well to progress to the QF.

Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka, Fran Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya, and Nathalia Christine Poluakan/Yulianti fell in R16 to more experienced opponents. Maria Elfira Christina lost to a more aggressive Eastern European player.

Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan lost to the eventual champion in the first round. The only disappointing result was Tantowi Akhmad/Yulianti's first round loss.

Finally, Sylvinna Kurniawan and Maria Febe Kusumastuti lost in the Qualifying Rounds.

There will be more actions in the Italian Challenge...let's see if Team Djarum can steal a title or two.

No title for INA in this tourney, unfortunately Andre has failed at the end but probably this is maximal result from INA's back up team. Meanwhile CHN small squad booked 3 titles here with Lu Yi and Wang Yihan are the unpredictable winners. And Europe representatives, Germany and Poland taste victory this time to overcome strong faves Japan and China pair respectively, Congratz!
