My uncle in Shanghai is going to buy them for me. The RMB price should be cheaper than the tickets from foreign countries.

..just wondering, is that the official ticket distributor/seller??..I would imagine if we get the tickets straight from the organizer, it would be cheaper??..
On that note, the prices of the tickets are really mind-boggling, esp. for the Finals day:eek::crying:..I wonder if the badminton tickets during the 1996 Olympics were also sold around those prices:confused:...And if they seem cheaper now, wait til the scalpers stand outside the venue and try to sell those tickets at an even more extravagant prices~god forbid!:crying::(:p

Hi ctjcad,
I should think it would be cheaper to get tickets straight from the organiser than from a ticket broker, as described in this one provided via the link:
http://www.cheappremiumtickets.com/general_results.cfm?kwds=2008%20Olympics:%20Badmin ton&type=2
We can read their policy, as provided in their link: http://www.cheappremiumtickets.com/privacy.cfm#1
Perhaps it is best to shop around. Some Beijing BC members might be able to help to direct us to cheaper brokers in China.
BTW, here is another ticket broker, located at:
http://www.beijingticketing.com/advancesearch.aspx?Searchstring=Badminton
Just comparing the above two... we can see some differences in their prices for the Preliminaries, although there is little difference for the Finals tickets. :)
Cheers... chris@ccc

Olympic tickets on sale illegally
By Michael Bristow
BBC News, Beijing
Black market tickets for next year's Olympic Games in China are already being sold illegally on the internet.
Individuals who were initially allowed to buy 50 tickets each are cashing in by selling them for more than 10 times their face value.
Beijing's Olympic Committee (BOCOG) allows tickets to be transferred between users, but not for profit.
The second round of ticket sales has just been launched, and applicants will be randomly allocated seats.
A BOCOG spokesman said: "We will work with relevant departments to respond to the practise of reselling tickets for profit."
Huge mark-ups
More than 1.5 million tickets were allocated in the first round of ticket sales, which was only open to people living in mainland China.
Some of those who secured tickets in this round are now advertising their unwanted seats on Chinese websites.
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/44208000/jpg/_44208168_queue_b203_ap.jpg Customers have been eagerly queuing for tickets
Tickets for the opening ceremony on 8 August are on sale for as much as 39,000 yuan ($5,270, £2,600). Their face value is just 3,000 yuan.
Seats for a wide range of events are being advertised, including events that are likely to be seen as highlights of the Games.
Tickets are available for the 110m hurdles final, in which Chinese athlete Liu Xiang won gold in Athens in 2004. He was the first Chinese man to win a track and field gold at an Olympic Games, and his appearances regularly attract big crowds.
Individuals who have been allocated tickets will not be given them until next summer, but this has not stopped people selling them beforehand.
Some buyers and sellers are signing contracts that promise tickets will be handed over immediately after they are issued.
The BBC bought two tickets for two badminton semi-finals from a man who insisted we sign a contract giving transaction details.
He charged a total of 2,000 yuan ($270, £133) for two tickets that cost him just 600 yuan. We paid a deposit of 600 yuan, with the remainder to be paid when we get the tickets.
Tracking tickets
These sales are being carried out despite a ban on speculation. There was a similar ban in Athens in 2004 and Sydney in 2000.
At a recent press conference, Zhu Yan, director of the Beijing Olympic Ticketing Centre, said: "We prohibit the resale of tickets."
"If people want to transfer a ticket to someone else, that is OK, but you cannot resell it for profit," he added.
People who flout this rule face 10-15 days detention and a fine of 1,000 yuan, according to state media.
The large stockpile of black market tickets is perhaps the result of allowing people to buy up to 50 tickets each in the first round of sales.
That number is being reduced to just eight tickets in the second round, which will be open for applications from December 10-30, 2007.
BOCOG officials say they reduced the number of tickets each person can buy to give more people the chance to watch an Olympic event.
But preventing them being resold for a quick profit was another reason for the change.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) says it is up to the Chinese authorities to prevent people from making money by reselling tickets.
It says the Chinese have the means to do this because each ticket has a tag that identifies the initial buyer.
"Given that the tickets can be tracked down, we hope this will deter people from selling them on," said IOC spokeswoman Emmanuelle Moreau.
BOCOG says it has already introduced systems to help it prevent the resale of Olympic tickets, but at the moment they do not appear to be working.

Beijing Olympic tickets go back on sale today
By Lydia Chen
2007-Dec-10
THE second batch of Beijing Olympic tickets went on sale for the second time today after the booking system crashed due to overwhelming demand in October.
Sports fans in China can submit ticket orders through the official Website (www.tickets.beijing2008.cn (http://www.tickets.beijing2008.cn)) or at 1,000 designated branches of the Bank of China across the country, Xinhua news agency reported today, citing a statement released by the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee.
Ticket sales will run from today through December 30, the statement said.
The ticket center will later adopt a lottery allocation system to decide who will get the tickets. This will replace a first-come, first-serve scheme that led to a computer system crash on October 30, when the second phase first started
Each applicant is allowed to submit only one order for a maximum of two competitions and a limit of four tickets for each event, the statement said. It is an attempt to give everyone a fair opportunity, Zhu Yan, the director of the ticketing center for the Beijing Olympics, said in previous reports.
A total of 1.85 million tickets will be sold in this second and last round.
Organizers announced on November 5 that the lottery allocation system, which was adopted for the first-round sale of more than 1.6 million tickets, will be used to replace the first-come-first-serve scheme after high demand crashed the computer system.
The first-come, first-served ticket sale was suspended after less than a day as the ticketing Website saw eight million hits in the first hour. The ticketing hotline received 3.8 million calls, according to the center.
The results of the lottery will be announced after the deadline and the Bank of China will deduct the money from buyers' accounts in several batches, Zhu said in a previous interview.
Buyers can browse the ticket Website or call the ticket center (010-952008) to check the lottery results and whether their money has been withdrawn, Zhu noted.

Its not easy to get a pass for the Olympic event. It has to get thru your local Olympic comittee. As for Press pass.. not easy as well.

In order to get the press pass for the OG, you need to get the national press pass plus the international press pass .. but even with those passes they can still refuse

Some said that to stay in any hotel in beijing around august would cost more than 10 times than before.Let's say to live to a cheap 3star hotel would cost around +300rmb(43USD) a day before..then at around olympic,it can go up to +3000rmb(430USD) a day. So,if i'm going,i have to stay at my friend's place. Then we can talk about the cost.=P

I think the ticket prices are in yen; starting from 100 yen.
You can do the currency exchange here:
http://www.xe.com/ucc/
(i believe you can get the cheapest ticket at around RM44).
Btw, the Phase 3 ticket sales, for non-Chinese citizens, will be available starting in April til September.
