Intercollegiate badminton is being resurrected at De Anza College for the upcoming Winter quarter. The team is open for students of both De Anza & Foothill Colleges.
Even tho' the team is designated Women's Intercollegiate Badminton, the associated class (PE 90) is open for both sexes. The coach for the class, Bill Pickthorn, is planning to form a club team for the guys that sign up for PE 90.
Note that Bill Pickthorn has previously coach the Stanford University team as well as the US National team.
PE 90 class info (http://deanza.edu/schedule/classes/schdetail.html?detailNum=7021)
The online schedule shows TBA for class days & time. Bill says that he plans to run practices 4 days a week (Mon? thru Fri?) from 6pm to 8pm. (Once league competition starts, matches will usually be at 3pm on Tues & Thur).
Since the class is listed as TBA, students are able to sign up for PE 90 even if they have 1 or 2 class times that conflict with intended practice times.
(Note that neither PE 90 nor the Sunday Tournament Badminton (http://deanza.edu/schedule/classes/schdetail.html?detailNum=6584) class appears in the printed schedule of classes. You must go to the online schedule to find both of these classes).
