It's a great achievement for Kendrick. Hopefully, he can teach Taufik a lesson "NOT to be Arrogant"
While Kendrick was busy giving Taufik a life lesson, Taufik gave Kendrick a badminton lesson. :D

Not surprisingly, Kendrick has chosen to wear Singapore's national colours for the final
Singapore's national colours are the same as Indonesia's national color! :p I don't know why Lee Kwan Yu chose that in 1965 when Indonesia already chose the red-white color in 1945... It's not like Indonesia didn't give sufficient time for Singapore to choose a different color... :p  :p

Yup, yup, I wasnt expecting much from the juniors, just the seniors like YKB, KBH, Gan/Lin didnt step up the game when needed cos it's their chance to prove themselves. Some of the other BCers arent happy abt it but I'm glad the junior gals gave a good fight.

Was concentrating on the other events for this SEA Games. Wow, Msia won 4 gold already from the 5 diving events today. Looks like can reach target of 64 gold.
Dear eaglehelang,
I also disappointed with the seniors in the squad but I believe that they need to be groom and learn from their mistakes. I believe that if they do not step up their games, they might lose their places with the juniors especially the project 2010-2012.

where do you got that result???
BOLA news... I think you can usually also check it in www.bulutangkis.com (http://www.bulutangkis.com) or www.pb-pbsi.net (http://www.pb-pbsi.net) . The article came out last week and was called "Misi Empat Emas"... The INA team exceeded the KONI expectation by far! :D Yeah, Indonesia need all the help we can get... Our status as a regional sports competitor is dwindling here and there... Well, except in badminton, I guess... :p

with snooker we have representative in the final and later got 2 more diving event while not forget also gymnastic mayb we will have a chance...
erm, a bit off topic i think;...
anyway i think this time the malaysia badminton team that was sent to korat to compete in the sea games gave a good fight and i think they had do their best....
Dear george,
I agreed with you that our badminton team gave the good fight and do their best. Thank you shuttlers, for giving us 4 bronze medals where we did not put hope to deliver.
George, I believe that Malaysia can achieve the target. All the best!

According to official website, one more diving event left, Msia already won 4 out of 5 golds. I've watched when they show our male divers in SEA, other countries no fight. That's why they can qualify for Oly on merit.
Yes, there's still snooker, gymnastic, and equestrian...
Back to baddy, yes, yes, One Soul One Mind, the blood brothers vs the Mighty Mouse & Mighty Pillar. Let's see if One Soul One Mind can break thru to Mighty Pillar and withstand the cannons from Mighty Mouse.

Indonesia was the regional sports superpower when SEA Games started. We were the overall general medal count champs many times. But later on, Thailand passed us... Then Malaysia... Then Vietnam...
Who knows, maybe later on Laos, Burma, even Brunei will pass us by in general sports achievement... :crying: but not in badminton! Many people will shoot themselves in INA if Laos, Burma, and Brunei pass us in badminton...

Each country has their own clean sweep event such as Singapore with table tennis,Malaysia with diving and Thailand with boxing.Well, the athletics and swimming are the most competitive events and i am glad that there are many talent in this two event especially swimming.Hopefully South East Asia athlete can done well in the Olympic game.

As expected, Indonesian men and ladies completed a gold medal whitewash as the badminton team event programme of the SEA Games came to a close in the Thai city of Korat on Monday evening.
With a vastly superior lineup that included the world ranked Taufik Hidayat and Sony Dwi Kuncoro, the Indonesian men breezed past Singapore, winning both the singles and the first doubles to secure the gold-medal winning margins in the best of five matches.
Taufik, who had suffered an unexpected loss to the Thai champion Ponsana in the semi-final a day earlier, was again not at his usual best. Playing the Singapore national champion, Kendrick, the Indonesian ace lost the opening game 12-21, survived the second by the narrowest of margins, 22-20 but was in his element in the third when he demolished the exhausted Singaporean 21-9.
Sony was in a class of his own in his match against Chew Swee How. The winning score of 21-12, 21-7 was inspiring enough to set his doubles teammates Kido & Setiawan to seal the gold medal with a straight game win for an unassailable 3-0 margin.
Earlier Singapore had shocked Malaysia out of the competition with 3-1 win. The Malaysians of course did not have the benefit of having their top singles and doubles players in this competition. In the other semi-final, Indonesia beat host, Thailand.
In ladies competition, the Indonesian girls prevailed after a nervous start against Singapore. They lost the opening singles when Li Li and Xing Aiying scored surprise wins over Maria Yulianti and Adriyanti Fidasari. But Singaporean hopes were short-lived when Bernadet pulled one back for Indonesia against Fu Mingtian before a very powerful performance by the Indonesian pairs of Liliyana & Marissa and Poli & Novita sealed off a 3-2 victory in the best of five matches.
In the semi-finals earlier, Singapore had beaten Malaysia 3-1 while Indonesian had seen off the Thai girls 3-0.
Individual events in the SEA Games begin at the Badminton Gymnasium today.http://www.badmintonasia.org/gallery/24-seagames/SEA%20Games%202007%20Mascot.JPG

The gold medal at Korat must mean a lot to Taufik Hidayat.
A loss at these games would've been embarrassing, to say the least.
Imagine the winner at the Asian Games losing at the smaller South East Asian Games :p
This should also enormously boost his spirit ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
He's already won at the Olympic Games, the World Championships and the Asian Games.
Come August 2008, he has but sporting history to look forward to :)

12-14-2007, 07:58 PM
..and not to take anything away from the INA squad sweeping of all the medals, or lowering the standard of the SEA Games, i do agree with Taufik in that PBSI, or at least himself, should have sent the newer or younger players to compete. Or at least those who haven't won or tasted victory in SEA Games, as Taufik had won it before and the chance(s) for other players to compete and take the stage should be the priority.......But i understand, perhaps they (PBSI) want to display and showcase all of their talents to the fans awaiting for them in Korat.........let alone all the die-hard INA fans in BC...:D:p;)
Btw, is it me, or does it seem Taufik tends to win those end of the year tourneys more so than during the yr??; at least the last couple of yrs?!...And yeah, concur earlier with alfa-2, that Taufik tends to play "serious" in tourneys labeled as "Games"(OG, AG, SEAG) more so than in "Opens"..:p:cool:

Finally, INA has made white wash in badminton SEAG! It's meaningful enough for INA badminton camp to taste past time glorious although can't say extraordinary achievement. Yeah, TH is so powerful and has very good record if he competes in multisport arena, from South East Asia region to Olympiad.
Wanna see INA badminton isn't only the King of this SEAG but also reach big victory in Beijing Games which gold priority depends on XD,MD and MS. So far, INA's best record at OG is 2 badminton golds collection in Barcelona 1992 and the rest edition from Atlanta to Athens just won 1 gold. Will INA bring 3 bdm golds from Beijing? Let's see...

I think this is the second time INA had a clean sweep in badminton for SeaGames held outside the country. Their clean sweeps before were Manila 1981, Jkt 1987, Jkt 1997..
Congrats for INA, inspite of only reaching no.4 in the overall gold medal count. Laos 09 would be a more fair place to see who is the best among the big 5 (THA, INA, MAS, VIE, PHI), since there is no host-advantage anymore and only less than 30 games will be contested (more aline with olympic games).

It was widely expected INA to sweep all GOLDs (except the XD). I think for the game of the development of badminton, the SEA Games should only allow badminton players U-23. Give more rooms for the juniors to gain International exposure. Afterall, we've seen enough of the Taufik, LCW, Sony, etc... in SS, so give the youngsters a chance to shine :)
