Kam Po Chinese restaurant (as people who go to our supper, Kam Po is the sistershop of ocean king in king's way, Glen Waverley)

I think you have made a good decision... dinner time from 8pm is better because we can stay longer and later.

Just a 2nd thought, the parking arrangement of forest hill at night is quite complicated.

if you guys were to park on mahoneys rd, watch the sign cos most are only 1/2 hour. Please park inside the forest hill shopping centre to avoid any fines.

On friday, to those people who are slightly interested who said i am not sure, i have explained clearly to them individually that i would really like them to tell me by sunday because i need to book.But out of all the people who told me they might/would give me a call by sunday, no one does.

Do you know if they have tables with sitting greater than 10 ? Round tables, I hope.

If not, then it should be better for us to squeeze in the eleventh person. So... just tell them we need ONE table for 10.

This dinner is different from the one that I've organised for the Chinese New Year, where we have to inform the other restaurant the exact number because we were pre-ordering a Special Banquet.

also knowing from experience of this particular restaurant, i specifically ask them to give us the special table near the entry. they said "we cannot gurantee"

the location of the "special table" feels we are shield away from everybody else. Otherwise we might have to yell to get our point across.

anyhow, it would be nice for a chance when someone else raise their eyebrow for our noise level instead of the other way around.

But once i saw you pick up pen and paper for writing down the address last friday, i knew you were in for this!! if i knew you were going to help me, i would have done it more thoroughly and give it more than 1 week notice. Cos i remember i talk to you about this but you said you were not even thinking that at the time. Guess you are now!!

Is the noise level @Kam Po much higher than the noise level @Ocean King ?.


good question. on a sat day? in terms of noise level, i think ocean king just beat kam po by a little bit being in forest hill which is a location that people don't normally go.

Let me clarify, from a scale of 1-10.

- kam po on a week nite dinner would be around 4
- ocean king on a week nite supper would be around 5 (which is reasonable for anyone to speak to the other end of a big 10 person table )
- kam po on a weekend dinner should be around 7 or 8 (which is just ok for people to hear each other on a huge table)
- oceak king on a weekend dinner would be around 9 (which is pretty much near impossible for anyone on the other of the table to hear you)

is that clear enough?

Since we are having problems... having to relocate our CCC@Waverley to another venue, from Wednesday 2-January-2008 to Friday 25-January-2008(inclusive), due to maintenance requirements@Waverley, I am again under great pressure to find another venue, as to where we could find the best venue(s) for our interested members. Different members are telling me and/or requesting me to organise at different venues. :(:(:(

However, our decision will be based on what venue is available for us, and how many members have requested/suggested for it. As you know, our thread located at this link http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50819 , is very quiet.

With my mind fully occupied with this relocation of venue... I am afraid that I will not have the time to organise our Chinese New Year 2008 Dinner. Are you free to organise it ???... And when I have settled down with our venue relocation, I will pick up the pieces somehow.

Also, Steven has asked for you to post our photos taken @Kam Po.

- Me and Marina were “surprised” that Chris made it to Kam Po on 8:15. consider your record at box hill CCC, that’s early, well done!!

- Chris was very happy that his usual dish – fatty pork is ordered by Steven.

- Molly was surprised that she was supposed to be at Kam Po on 8:00 sharp. and you arrive when the food start coming. Great timing!


- $18 / person is very cheap for a dinner.

- Marina and Steven had some fun trying to convince hkhung that he look like japanese, vietnamese or anything else for that matter

if anyone want to put down any funny incident, you are all welcome. and x mas (i know it's too late for that!) and happy new year!

No man, i thank you for doing my work for identifying er .... myself.

Since i post everywhere, some people might "shoot" me now that they know who i am.

It's good that we "shoot" Kim at some other photo as he turned up to support our friendly match vs JTUltra (1 of the 3 friendly matches vs JT) when we play at doncaster not that ago.

The result of that particular friendly was forgettable. And i was involved in it.

It's not as smooth sailing as you think... because the confirmation of players coming weren't there. :(:(:(

as someone who's been with you since late 2002 from box hill to wantirna and now MSAC. regarding to the stress related to the big question "how many court to book?", i know how you feel.

in long run, you might even have to turn away people if the following scenario happen
- say on friday, there are many permanent booking. So if you book 1 court, and there are more than 8 people coming. basing on the principle of "8 person per court", you have to turn away the 9 person. this is especially troublesome as some people arrive half an hour late (as we know this is notorius for certain people in wantirna).

Hence, the importance of letting chris know we are coming.


It is hoped that more of our players@ccc will be more definite in whether they are coming or not, and then post in this thread, like what Kim has done.
